Nestled in the heart of the city, Hyatt Regency Birmingham earns accolades for its serene atmosphere and central location, ideal for exploring nearby attractions or attending business events. While guests admire the pristine cleanliness and commend the attentive staff, some feel the hotel's rates are steep given the outdated rooms and additional charges for services like parking and breakfast.
The spa and views are highlights for many, yet reviews on amenities vary, and noise can be an occasional concern.

Detailed Reviews
From the moment we arrived staff were helpful, polite , cheerful and efficient.
Check in went smoothly.
We had booked one of their Regency Club rooms which though costing more than regular rooms was worth it because of the views you get as the rooms are on the top floors and also you get access to their Regency lounge. Good views over Centenary Sq, the Commonwealth Bull, Broad St , the new metro tram system and the Birmingham sky line.
Room itself was clean and tidy , everything in place and working. Modern bathroom , toiletries provided , hot water coming through tap almost immediately, towels for two people provided ( the last two hotels we stayed at though claiming to be 5 star did not provide two hand or bath towels ) Tea , coffee , water etc available. Slippers provided. Room cleaned and made up in the mornings. Bed slightly harder than we are used to .
Lift system worked well and on the whole efficiently though it has to be operated by room key card and the reader in the lift didn't always react 1st time to the card.
Breakfast buffet good selection both hot and cold cuts available. Waiters and waitresses good at their job in keeping us topped up with tea/coffee , removing dirty plates.
Just would mention as they are often forgotten that the ladies cleaning the downstairs toilet and public area of the hotel were polite and cheerful and kept it clean and tidy
The Gentleman and Scholar bar nice ambience again efficient and cheerful staff who knew their cocktails. Criticism we ordered a bar snack which took a long time to arrive and though the calamari was OK the chicken fillet/ tomato and avocado salad wasn't very nice . They have music some evenings though one evening the music was outside in the public lounge in which there was nobody ( odd ).
Managed by luck to get a place in their very small 25 place car park both on arrival and each time we returned on going out . Given we only have a Honda Jazz we did lower the tone of the car park ( not really its a joke ) as all the other cars there cost at least 3 times as much and some probably 6-7 times. Quite expensive but worth it at our age as nearest public car park is about half a mile away, pay on ARRIVAL.
Check out very smooth.
Hotel has the big advantage it is in walking distance close to the main entertainment / restaurant centre of Birmingham

Stayed once again at the Hyatt as we were going to see the Jonas Brothers at the Utilita Arena. We were also here for two nights in August for Justin Timberlake concert. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff are always so welcoming from the lovely doorman all the way through to the room service guy. The rooms are always immaculate, they have everything you could possibly need from a hotel and the Room Service is delicious and unlike many other hotels its available unitl 1 am so perfect for a post concert burger!

Stayed overnight for partners birthday, car parking is very limited and £27 for 24hrs. We did manage a space though the roads around the hotel are a nightmare with roadworks and traffic at the moment, the hotel is very central though so to be expected. Checked in online and smooth on arrival, we stayed in a king bed room and it was nice clean, tidy and functional. Bathroom the same although the shower setup a little bit of a pain, shower was great in terms of power output but the wall mount was not that high and that combined with the glass half curtain just led to water escaping. The room was quiet though we both thought the pillows were too soft and not that supportive/comfortable. Breakfast was a decent selection and all fairly good quality, service was polite though a bit hit and miss, eggs, omelettes etc.. cooked to order though they didn't tell us or offer that, I noticed others around us, my wife had an omelette which was nice. The regular coffee was not good and I'd advise a specific flat white, latte or cappuccino instead. Overall the hotel was a nice place to stay and is very well located to access the centre.

Dear R50KEY, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, and we’re glad to hear that you chose to celebrate your partner’s birthday at Hyatt Regency Birmingham! We’re happy that overall, you found the hotel to be a nice place to stay, with a clean and functional room, as well as a central location. I do apologize for the challenges you encountered with parking and the roadworks nearby—unfortunately, they are outside of our control, but we understand the frustration they can cause. I’ve also noted your comments regarding the shower setup and the pillows, and we’ll take this feedback into consideration to improve the guest experience. I’m glad you enjoyed breakfast and that your wife liked her omelette, but I do regret that the coffee and communication about the cooked-to-order options weren’t to your satisfaction. We'll ensure our team provides clearer information to all guests about these offerings in the future. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you and your partner back soon for another enjoyable stay. Best regards, Hyatt Regency Birmingham Team

Disappointing visit this time. We always use the Hyatt Regency Club room when visiting Birmingham. We are also Hyatt members, but that seems meaningless as the member price was nothing special and there’s no acknowledgment of membership when checking in or in the accommodation offered. This time, the additional expense was not worth it. This was our most expensive room charge at the hotel, with the worst experience of any stay we’ve had. Not what you’d expect for a Hyatt Regency Hotel. Room was clean but scruffy, furniture scuffed and room looked like it needed a bit of TLC. Couldn’t access the lounge floor with keycard so had to use the back stairs and that’s not a great place! Three times getting the key reset. After shopping and returning to the hotel, accessed the lounge at 20:30. Coffee machine producing cold coffee, no milk available. Ended up having to go out again to get a decent warm drink There is an insistence at breakfast of offering us breakfast seating at a coffee table in the lounge area rather than a proper table in the main eating area and a reluctant attitude when explaining that we would rather not eat bent over the table. Neighbour room playing loud music at 03:00 , called down to reception no answer, so ended up having to get up and go deal with the noise nuisance myself. Did raise our concerns at reception on a number of occasions, not a great response. It just doesn’t feel like the Hyatt we have known over the years.
All in all, I’m disappointed enough to have cancelled our next stay in March.

Dear patrick_mallett, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had during your recent stay. We value our Hyatt members and it’s concerning to hear that you felt your membership and loyalty were not recognized. Your comments regarding the room condition, the issues with access to the Regency Club, and the challenges at breakfast and with noise are deeply troubling, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience caused. We take all guest concerns seriously, and I want to assure you that this is not the level of service we strive to provide. I will be addressing your feedback with the relevant teams to ensure that these issues are rectified for future stays. We understand your decision to cancel your upcoming stay, but I hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to restore your faith in our service. Please feel free to reach out directly if you would like to discuss this further. Best regards, Hyatt Regency Birmingham Team

We stayed at Hyatt Regency for New Years eve 2024 - hotel was busy and there were quite long queues for checkin. We had booked a regency suite which looked very good online and also came with club access - this is normally open all day with drinks reception in the evening and breakfast in the morning. When we checked in we were told the club lounge would not be open and that breakfast had been stopped in the club lounge for some time - this was dissapointing.
Hotel is in a great location and the team looking after us were very good.
The room was on a lower level than expected - the view was still not bad though. Room was not bad, but not what was quite shown on the website when booking and I would not call it a suite. It was perfectly fine but as it was called the Regency Suite (there are a couple of better suites but they were not available) it was not quite as special as expected.
We didnt have food in the hotel so can not comment, we did have a look and it looked good so we will try it in the future.
Great location and under normal circumstances it would have been a great stay, but as it was s special occasion we were a but underwhelmed.

Dear 326thomaso, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you experienced regarding the Regency Suite and the Club Lounge offerings. We understand how important these aspects are, especially during a special occasion like New Year's Eve, and we truly regret that we were unable to meet your expectations in this regard. Your comments regarding the suite and the Club Lounge have been shared with our team to ensure improvements are made going forward. We’re pleased to hear that despite these concerns, you appreciated our team's service and the hotel's prime location. We are also glad that the food offerings looked appealing and we hope to have the chance to provide you with a full experience next time. Once again, we appreciate your valuable feedback and would love the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to ensure your next stay is memorable and exceeds expectations. Stayed for a weekend function and went with friends and family. We all booked individually and had been pre allocated rooms on separate floors but the duty manager (Maila) was very accommodating in arranging for us all to be on the same floor practically next door or opposite each other. The welcome Prosecco and infused chilled water in reception was a really nice touch.
There was some hiccups with a event that was being held at the hotel, (not the hotel’s fault) however the staff dealt with it patiently and professionally. Food in the bar ( Cod and chips) was one of the best fish and chips we have eaten ( thanks to the concierge who recommended) Breakfast was lovely with so many choices, again staff were very attentive! Even though we didn’t need the rooms cleaned during our stay house keeping were visible pleasant and accommodating if you required any extra towels, tea, etc. The hotel is conveniently located, Bus and tram stops are literally across the road making it easy to get around but you can also walk to the city centre ( appx 10 min walk) overall would definitely stay at the Hyatt again when visiting Birmingham!

A lovely hotel. I had been here for a conference but had never stayed. Firstly the reception staff are awesome, friendly but not too much and we had a great welcome and check out experience. The high floor rooms are worth the money, my partner is a brummy and loved looking over the city and canal. The room was spacious and clean and the noise from outside was minimal. The breakfast was good, but the breakfast seating area is better, super relaxed and pretty for a leisurely breakfast and putting the world to rights. A fab location just minutes from the NIA and Brindley place with lots of parking available in the QParks nearby.

The hotel came highly recommended, and it certainly lived up to expectations.
Its central location was perfect for my needs, as I was performing at Birmingham Town Hall, and it was also ideal for my family, with the shopping area conveniently close by.
Our room was very comfortable, quiet, and disruption-free. The beds were excellent, and we all enjoyed a restful night’s sleep.
The wonderful atmosphere throughout the hotel added to our overall experience. The breakfast was equally impressive, with a fantastic variety of options that suited our wide diets.
We were especially impressed with the reception team. Their professional and efficient approach was greatly appreciated.

Stayed overnight after attending a concert at Symphony Hall - the Hyatt is very close and convenient for this and has a covered "bridge" connecting.
After the concert we requested 2 Irish coffees in the Bar. Poor service and delivered 10 minutes apart - one of which was cold. Not happy with being charged over £30 for the privilege of drinking cold coffee! Stayed on a non-smoking floor - next morning the corridor stank heavily of cigarette smoke. Alerted reception on checking out and received acceptable compensation.

Dear ColinAMcK, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. On behalf of the Hyatt Regency Birmingham team, we sincerely apologize for the service issues you encountered during your stay. We understand how frustrating it must have been to receive your Irish coffees with poor timing and one being cold, especially for the price. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we will be addressing this with our bar team to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We also apologize for the unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor, despite being on a non-smoking floor. We’re glad to hear that our team was able to offer you acceptable compensation, and we will continue to work on maintaining a smoke-free environment in all areas of the hotel. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Best regards, Hyatt Regency Birmingham Team

Booked an overnight stay as my brother & sister in law had already booked to stay. We were heading to a concert at Symphony Hall so it is the ideal location. Check in was seemless and allocated rooms on the 12th floor which still have a terrific view of Birmngham. We found that the hotel had managed to put us next door to each other which was a nice touch. Our King rooms were very large & kitted out with usual mod-cons including a safe & a mini-fridge. Excellent bathroom products including robes & slippers. A tip for a future refurbishment would be for the hotel to remove the baths as these are very narrow and replace with a walk in shower. We ate in the Aria restaurant on the pre theatre menu. Service was attentive without being intrusive and my sister in laws birthday was acknowledged with an extra desert. We crossed over the bridge to Symphony Hall so no need to go outside. After the concert we went to the bar area which was quite busy & a bit slow which was acknowledged by management that some staff were new & still in training. Sleep well was great & breakfast had everything you could possibly want & more. My sister in law used the pool in the morning for a quick swim and found that on return her room card didn’t work and there were quite a few others at reception with the same query. This was a treat for us as we usually get a taxi home and this is not the most cheapest of hotels but this is now our ‘go to’ if stopping in central Birmingham again.

Breakfast was not available in the club room and we were directed towards the restaurant which is in the atrium and very pleasant.
Room-rate booking needs to specify 'breakfast included'. Breakfast runs from 0600~1100.
Been there a couple of times needing to get early flight, leaving hotel around 0500, the team were around and managed to rustle me up some food and a coffee 'to-go', all good.
