I'm sure in it's day this place was excellent, a great buildings, some lovely architectural features, great public areas and the rooms are ok. Unfortunately I have very little else to comment on that's positive...oh yes, sorry forgot, the parking is free. Apparently this used to be a full on country house hotel but has recently been downgraded to a...

I booked this stay on line and on arrival was informed they were closing as a hotel and changing direction to become a B&B Given the state of the place I sincerely hope that they are undertaking a massive modernisation and deep clean before they re open. There was a musty smell and plug in air fresheners everywhere to try...

Stayed here for 2 nights as a base for undertaking Great North Run, the hotel was in a brilliant location, only 15 mins from Newcastle centre. The hotel was very welcoming, staff were very helpful and pleasant despite the upheaval of all the changes which are currently taking place. The food including breakfast was very good, it's a shame the...

Over the years we have had lots of family celebrations here, from our daughters 18th birthday to my parents Ruby and Golden Wedding anniversaries. We have even celebrated Christmas here on a couple of occasions. So imagine how disappointing it was to hear today that after the 17 th September the now Willows will become a B and B only....

Found this hotel on TripAdvisor and it has a very good rating - so we decided to book it for a two night stay. It is tucked out of the way down a back street in Ryton but still in a nice location. When we entered the building there was a bit of a fusty smell in the reception. The...

An older country house, unoretentious and practically furnished, this is a clean and cosy place to relax, enjoy the peace and quiet, and the warm, especially attentive staff. Menu is interesting with Spanish elements including a recently introduced tapas selection; our meal was delicious.

Recently stayed for several nights and although comfortable and friendly hotel the standard of cleanliness in bathroom was quite poor. Didn't need magnifying glass to notice toilet and sink area were not cleaned effectively. Curtain and grouting in shower area were very mouldy with fluctuating water temperature. We complained after noticing our cups were not being changed after use, simply...

Dated place. Agree that the staff are the biggest asset, except a lot of the time only one girl seems to be doing the lot. Wifi is pathetic. Full english breakfast ok, but porridge and coffee were lukewarm. ( Porridge comes as an alternative to full english ). Corridors upstairs very creaky, but it is an old house, and does...

I thought the Ryton offered quite a lot -- a reasonable location with Newcastle and countryside not too far away, the appearance of a small scale country house hotel and very reasonable prices. Our room seemed comfortable and we booked for dinner in the hotel on the first night. The food was good and the staff serving it were very...

Visited here with the other half and ended up ordering the tapas. The squid with the lime was a nice touch. This chef seems to be the real deal. Keep up the good work. Will definitly return. Thanks for a great night!
