Detailed Reviews
I stayed here 12 months ago and stayed again for 2 nights with friends after returning from a weeks fishing at Dundee Beach. This is a quality hotel with excellent facilities, offering great rates. Palmerston is only 25 mins from the city ( via Tiger Brennan Drive ) or $30.00 in an Uber.
Facility is new, modern and rooms are very comfortable and very well equipped. Has undercover parking, a large pool and an excellent restaurant.
Front desk staff are good …. could be a little more welcoming, but check in & check out is a breeze.
The breakfast buffet is first class and great value. Like last time, the breakfast shift Chefs seem peeved when you ask them to prepare any of the egg offerings, however there are a great range of delicious choices if you don’t want to ring the bell to interrupt the chef’s to cook you an egg selection.
Highly recommend Rydges Palmerston
Highly recommend a stay here, especially if you want great value for money and a standard way better than many of the offerings in Darwin CBD.

Stayed here in the standard room not much different from the king standard.
Was a nice room clean both time stayed like the so soap only thing we did notice was the the desserts where a little pricey as we would have like to get 2 but $24.00 is a bit for it. Plus if room service so if $10 or $8 so soft serve it was one of the nights the other paid $12 for a whole place at Coles

We stayed in an executive king suite, and it was very comfortable and spacious. We asked for a high floor room and had a 7th floor suite with great views over Palmerston and beyond to the Darwin port ( very pretty lights at night) Super quiet in the room, very comfy king bed and bathroom with good water pressure and optional hand held shower, "Thankyou" brand toiletries smelled delightfully fresh. Daily housekeeping was excellent, added such a holiday feel to have clean towels daily. Breakfast had good choices (eggs benedict was a surprising delish addition to the normal egg station)and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Pool was OK, no deep end, but pool side lounge chairs were appreciated. Will definitely be staying there again in the future.

My husband and I travelled by plane from Brisbane to Darwin to spend Christmas with our eldest daughter and her partner.
We have recently sold our home and have been extremely busy packing up boxes and cleaning our home.
We thought a 10 day break would be just lovely and were so looking forward to staying in close proximity to our daughter.
A day or two before we left, the hotel at Rydges Palmerston asked if we would like to be upgraded? We thought that would make our holiday
even more special, so agreed to the upgrade and understood we would have to pay an extra $20 per night.
We arrived at the hotel on 23 December 2021 and were asked to pay the extra $200 for the upgrade and we paid that amount and set off to our home for the next 10 days.
I did expect the room to be more suited to a couple but was more aimed at a business person staying by themselves. There was one lounge chair, a desk with a chair and a bench under the Tv.
That night, or early hours of the 24 December 2021 a note was placed under our door advising us there would be limited housekeeping services until the 28 December 2021.
We were so disappointed, shocked and appalled.
How can a hotel expect patrons to us pay extra for an upgrade and then told the room would not be serviced for half of our holiday. We received a second notice on the 31 December 2021 for limited services
again for the 1 and 3 January 2022. So for over half of our ‘special’ holiday was a huge let down. The thought of a made bed, clean towels, clean crockery and cutlery truly makes for a special treatment holiday.
This was not a low budget holiday for us as we are both retired and spent a great deal of effort putting this holiday together.
The staff on the front desk were very accommodating for the first couple of days during the limited services with giving out fresh towels, toilet paper, coffee, sugar, tea, soap etc.
I had to wash our cups for 4 days, I did not attempt the glassware as I was quite concerned about breaking them when washing them in my personal vanity.
There were no staff restrictions at other hotels in Darwin/Palmerston over the Christmas and New Year period.
The Rydges Hotel Palmerston would have known about this limited service during the Christmas and New Year period, so why were we not informed prior to our holiday to enable us to decide whether we would be happy with this arrangement.
After 2 or 3 days the staff at the front desk became quite defensive when handing out the items we required. We always asked nicely, told them it was for room 710, then often got an earful about how busy it was at the moment with the holiday staff restrictions. It is not the fault of the staff on the front desk that management put this extra strain on them because they did not have housekeeping services available.
We will definitely not stay with Rydges Palmerston in the future and will be spreading this word around.

Dear D2536TFsandyb, Thank you for taking time to review us. I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. I would like to mention that the reason for limited housekeeping service was because of the Public holidays. Unlike other hotels we do not charge "Public Holiday surcharge" or increased our room rates and instead we gave limited service. We also sent letters to all the guestrooms stating the days and mentioned that reception will be available for any bathroom supplies. We had about 4.5 days of Public holidays during Christmas and 2.5 days during New Years. We provided Housekeeping service alternate day to ensure guests were not impacted. On usual circumstances we provide housekeeping service every day in our hotel and I hope you understand us too. But said that, we will definitely take this feedback into consideration and take some action. Thank you once again and stay safe! Kind regards,

We had a great stay. Staff were very friendly at check in and check out. The room cleaning ladies always polite as we seemed to be leaving as they were about to refresh our room. Loved the huge king bed. Very high quality bed and bath room linen. The block out curtains made the room so dark it was great for sleep ins. Just a shame the TV had a led which made the room light up. But the room service menu fixed that issue. Enjoyed the pool nice and refreshing.

My dad and I stayed here before and after a buffalo hunting trip in Arnhem Land, and we were both very happy.
The hotel, being located in Palmerston, is perfectly situated. You can easily get to Darwin, while also being close to many of the nature and wildlife park attractions.
The rooms are very well-priced, especially for how good they are. The beds and pillows were clean and comfy. There was plenty of room for all of our things (and we brought a fair bit of gear) and the hotel room was fitted with everything we needed to be comfortable.
There are multiple restaurants in the hotel, and they offer room service if you choose to have it sent straight to where you are.
We couldn't bring the rigid rifle case we had flown to Darwin with to Arnhem Land as there wasn't enough space in the car. The hotel was very happy to hold on to it for us until we got back. Just one example of the great customer service.
There is a laundry facility that guests can use at no extra charge, which was extremely useful. It gave my father and me the opportunity to wash our clothes before heading off into remote Arnhem Land.
There is a spacious pool available for guests to use at no extra cost, which is great if you want to cool off after walking around in the heat. The pool is quite cold, so be prepared for that if you are planning on having a swim. Best to use it during the day.
Overall, a great place to stay if you are visiting the NT.

We thought we booked our Christmas holiday with a reputable hotel chain. How wrong we were! We were absolutely appalled with the management decision to not provide housekeeping services over the Christmas and New Year periods. For 5 of our 10 day stay we had no housekeeping. We received no notification when we booked, before we checked in, nor at check in that this would be the case. We paid for hotel services, not an Air B&B! We checked other hotels in Darwin and they provided normal housekeeping services over this period. In fact we have, on more than one occasion, previously stayed at other hotel chains in Darwin over the Christmas and New Year periods and never experienced such a lack of customer service and disregard for the comfort of guests. Management must have been aware this would happen and should have notified guests before their arrival so they could make an informed decision about their accommodation choice. Not even an offer of a reduced rate for those nights. It’s all about the money. We will never stay at a Rydges Hotel again.

The Manager provided an upgrade on arrival. But the room had not been made up from previous occupants. Management had to scramble to find another room.
The prepayment quote included B and B for 2 people but we were informed after one day that the payment did not include the 2nd person's breakfast.
That had to be sorted. My wife was visibly upset.
The stay at Rydges was uneventful. Good location at Palmerston.
The room was spotless and made up every day.
Breakfasts were well presented with a good variety.
At checkout the girl at the counter advised that our payment for the 8 day stay had doubled. Naturally my wife by this last admin error exploded.
I hasten to point out that I am a member of Rydges (PGR) and we always stay at a Rydges wherever a hotel is available as part of the programme.
This has been our first negative experience with a Rydges hotel.

I am glad to hear that you found our hotel rooms to be clean, spotless and enjoyed daily room service. I am sorry to hear that we had some errors with your breakfast package. Our staff made a silly mistake and i believe we compensated it by offering you two days of free breakfast and complimentary upgrade from queen room to King room with balcony. if you wish to discuss this matter further kindly contact the management. We took advantage of the NT Tourism Vouchers with the Rydges Play and Stay package. After a wonderful dinner and overnight stay in an Executive King Room, we enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast before heading to the Palmerston Golf and Country Club for nine holes of golf with cart and drinks. Never having played before we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so much so we will be going back. We frequent Madame Za's quite often and can say this occasion did not disappoint - the menu is to die for. Thank you for an awesome overnight experience.

Our 2 bedroom apartment was simply wonderful. There was nothing we wanted for.
The room service was excellent, the staff were so warm and obliging, we felt like pampered princesses. What a lovely lovely treat for us all, after the long year with covid restrictions. The linen was fresh and crisp and the beds extremely comfortable and generous. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean, and the pool was exceptional, with swimming towels supplied also. We loved our accomodation so much, we are going back to stay again in the next few months. Thank you so much for everything.

Yes, Rydges Palmerston has 24 hours reception.
Sorry to be late responding.
I would ask the hotel about access to the secure hotel carpark at 3.00 am, but given you can park at the door, if reception is manned at that hour it shouldn’t be an issue
Palmerston is generally a safe area most of the time. The police station is about 500 metres from the hotel. It is all well lit in that area.
The public bus will be fine between Palmerston and Darwin as there are express services available and the roads are fast and not busy. Getting from the airport to Palmerston would be an ordeal I would think.
Hi DebLinz
The Executive at Rydges Palmerston is currently assessing options to have a shuttle service included in your booking - in the meantime, you are able to book a shuttle through darwin airport link at a cost of $25.00 per person. We look forward to welcoming you in due course.
