We had a lovely two night stay in room 6. It had a super big bath in the bedroom and the room had an en-suite shower room with matching hand basins. Huge mirrors were part of the design as well as a modern four poster bed which was super comfortable. A comfy two seater sofa, practical desk and chair and useful coffee table added to the well appointed furniture. It all added to making for a relaxing and enjoyable 60th birthday treat. We had breakfast each morning which was fine and we ate in the pub on Friday night when it was super busy. The staff were very helpful , cheery and polite. The Fox Inn is in a great position, opposite the entrance to the Abbey Gardens which are beautiful. All shops, amenities and attractions are within short walking distance. Well worth the stay.

Really impressed by the standard of the room, well designed, spacious, attractive fittings, plenty of wardrobe space and room for cases. Tea and coffee spot had everything you need and the dressing table is separate with a mirror above. Bathroom was roomy too, with hand wash and hand cream and bodywash/shampoo provided too. The rooms are lodge style in a extension block at the rear of the pub. With an allocated parking spot at the front. 3 mins from the Cathedral and shops.

Had a really enjoyable 3 night stay at the Fox. Good location, ample parking and just over the road from the beautiful Abbey Gardens and 5-10 minutes walk from restaurants and shops, but despite this there was very little traffic or other noise. Stayed in room 6, a superior room, which was absolutely wonderful. The room is huge, a super king bed, a large bath in the bedroom and a large rainfall shower in the well appointed bathroom. Although like all other hotels and restaurants they are currently suffering from staff shortages that did not affect the friendless and helpfulness of the staff, nor the quality of the food at breakfast or dinner. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

The location of The Fox is perfect.right across the road from the Abbey Gardens with the aviary, garden shop, cafe and beautiful displays of flowers and the history of the Abbey to explore and absorb.having done this ,an exit leads you straight into Market Hill and the shops and restaurants and a lovely market. The staff were all friendly and helpful and service was quick. The plant based burger was delicious. We stayed overnight and the room was very pretty with a vaulted ceiling and chandelier and air conditioning. We could park right outside the door as the accommodation is in what may have been the stables outside in the car park. The extra large bed was huge but very very hard.We could not sleep at all. The shower over the bath was great, lovely and hot.But to get to the taps if you want a bath, have to climb in the bath first and be careful the hot water doesn't reach you before you get out.Bath mats are available in reception.under floor heating was lovely. Breakfast was awful for me,the thick slice of sourdough bread( no options) was too chewy and the scrambled egg was extremely dry ,inedible. There was no coffee, tea, juices, cereals, fruits, yoghurt egg out on a table to help yourself to.every item had to be asked for.undoubtedly cost saving and saves wasting food but it wasn't very relaxed and once breakfast was served we didn't see the waiter again. The Fox is a location with a lot of history, friendly staff, average food and quaint rooms in a lovely area. Watch your drinks, twice asked for a short spirit and mixer, twice got half a pint of coke with a spirit in.when explained this wasn't what was asked for just got a shrug and no offer to put right so gave up.be very specific. It seems very popular with locals and visitors and the atmosphere in the evening was a happy one.. We would go back if they changed the mattress!😀

Stayed for our 15th wedding anniversary in superior room 6.Absolutely stunning room with period features, lovely looking four poster bed, huge bath, double shower, twin sinks, lovely leather sofa, huge room with private stairwell, air conditioning. And very clean. Bad points unfortunately was an extremely firm bed an we didn't sleep well attall, thankfully a big bath to soak your joints after sleeping in the bed. Really thin curtains which let all the light in early, air con is directed over the bed so if you want it on in the room you get cold in bed. No pillow protectors. Only 1 bath towel per person, I need a bath towel, hand towel and hair towel. As it's superior and how much it cost I would expect other extras like a mini fridge, coffee machine and bath robes or the breakfast included which we didn't realise it wasn't till we arrived. Food in pub next door is average, nothing special. Sorry we won't be returning as you get better value elsewhere and the bed was too hard. When I dropped key back in the morning I mentioned about the lack of sleep and hard bed but no one seemed bothered.

My husband and I stayed at The Fox for two nights in the Superior room 6, whilst attending the Just Push Play Festival at The Apex. This was our second visit, but this time I made sure to have time for a soak in the huge bath !! The room had plenty of space and a sofa to relax on. You can park your car literally outside the front door. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were provided, as well as a couple of bottles of water. The breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had dinner on our first night which was also very good. If staying at the hotel you get 20% discount on food. Have already booked for next year. (Don't understand someone complaining about the noise from the temporary freezer outside, we had our window open and slept perfectly well).

We stayed in room number 2 which was very large, bright and airy and had everything you would want for a short break. Very comfortable bed, settee in the room so you don't have to sit on your bed, enough storage space and hangers in the wardrobe. Whilst the room was not overly hot, it was good that it had an air conditioning unit which we used regardless. The bathroom is also big with both a bath and a stand alone shower cubicle. Breakfast in the pub was first class too, very fresh and with premium ingredients. The only negative was the wifi wasn't great and I like Sky Sports but to be honest, for a two night break these are not needed and not a big enough negative to mark the scored down one bit. I would say that room 2 has room 6 above and could get noisy, but we did not face any issues with this. Perfect break, we will be back for sure!!!

We went from 28 th November to 30th November for 3 nights, this was our first visit and we loved it, the drinks were a reasonable price and we got 20% off our food bill each night which made it exceptional value for money, the food was lovely and we left full every night, staff were lovely and friendly, atmosphere was very nice. We had room 4 which was very nice, clean and quiet, we had a lovely sleep every night and awoke to go to an exceptional breakfast choice, it was fresh and filling, one of best breakfasts we have had anywhere. We will be back.

After a dreadful, dreadful experience at The Lamb Inn in Ely we were very trepidatious about staying at another Greene King establishment but went because we were given another stay to make up for the appalling treatment we had at the Lamb. The difference between the two places is like comparing chalk with cheese. The accommodation was far superior and the hospitality second to none. We stayed two nights in room 3 which had everything we needed for a short stay(apart from a shelf in the shower!) We ate in the restaurant on the first evening and there was a very good selection of food on the menu, all at reasonable prices. The food was served piping hot and with a pleasant smile. Breakfast was also very good and it was great to be served a decent cup of coffee. We were worried that as it was a pub it would be noisy but it was very quiet. Another advantage was that it was only a short and pleasant stroll into town. Our thanks to everyone concerned for making our visit so enjoyable.

This is a great pub with good food, very helpful staff and is dog friendly. I cannot speak highly enough of this business. We were delayed travelling from Kent to take a relative for a birthday lunch. The staff looked after him when he arrived on time and we're there to provide drinks when we finally arrived 45 minutes late. Absolutely no problem, no feeling of being rushed but an attentive waitress who didn't hover but was there when needed. It's a shame we don't live closer.

I believe the superior room is much bigger.(we stayed in a standard room). Take your own toiletries as there isn't anything much supplied. Don't know about any extras in the superior room but I would guess there aren't any.
Lovely hosts though and it's very quiet considering it's a pub.

There is a car park owned by the fox right next door to the pub but it is often full.
If you drive past the fox and turn right the road takes you to ram meadow car park. It's pay and display but a very reasonable cost and there is a gate which leads you directly into the fox car park.
There are more places to choose from in the Bury St. Edmunds area.
