I chose this hotel because of its location near the RR station. I didn't realize just how very close it is to the station as well as the Railair buses to/from LHR. I also chose it because of mostly positive reviews & a budget price. For what I paid, I did not expect such a large, well apponted room &...

The basic need for getting a hotel room is to have a goodnight sleep. This hotel doesn't meet this requirement. I was given a room on 1st floor facing the street opposite Reading station. The noise level was excessive! On a Tues night people waking and talking and cars passing by until 12.30pm. Then at 5am I got woken up...

Dear Rosi P, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m sorry to read that your experience with us failed to meet your expectations and I am disapointed that this has put you off staying here again. Being a city centre location it can be difficult to allocate a quiet room on a busy Saturday night, but...

Fantastic location if you want to be near the train station in reading ( it's directly opposite) and handy for walking to shops ( John Lewis and oracle shopping centre recommended ) and restaurants ( go through the shopping centre to the riverside and there's loads ) lovely bar ( expensive though) and breakfast delicious - recommend room service for...

Dear lisa n, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m very pleased to read your positive comments regarding our location and breakfast with us. Your feedback regarding the amount of lighting in certain areas of the hotel is acknowledged. The Mal brand does have a warm and dark feel and we are intentionally not aiming for...

If you like a room so dark you can't see what you're doing (dressing, ironing, etc) and a view of a white wall from your window, this place is for you. I am struggling to say something nice, so I'll stop. Could be great, but actually depressing. Breakfast OK, but a little slow. Bar is acceptable. Advice: Try Novotel round...

Dear Daryn M, Firstly thank you for taking the time to write your review. I do apologise that our style and décor is not to your liking. We are indeed a dark and warmly decorated brand and we do understand that this is not to everyone’s personal choice. Indeed as you mention some rooms are darker than others so do...

My son took his old dad, me and wife to Malmaison. I have to say what a nice surprise. The selection of starters (help yourself), contained just about everything you could want and was delicious! Seafoods, salads, cold meats, warm bread. My favorite were the roll mops, they were really good. We had the Sunday roast beef, again super, melt in...

Give me a morning coffee and room service...or maybe not. Dodgey plugs in the room...the ones that go spark...meant the coffee machine didn't work...so no coffee. Reception sounded a little bit bored of our early morning plight but after a day out at the races everyone is in need of a cafine lift! Looonnnggg wait for room service but once...

My wife and I stayed her for a rare night away from the children. The hotel is up to the usual Malmaison standards and is in a perfect location for bars and shopping. We'll worth a visit if you are in the area.

I arranged my sisters Bachelorette & we stayed over night. Rooms were lovely and staff took extra care of my sister, leaving a card in her room & giving her the best room! Stephanie Dutton deserves a mention for outstanding customer service!!!

Nothing special. Dark corridors. Dark room. This could be a great example of a pioneering railway hotel. But it isn't. Dull. Only one member of staff seemed interested in being bright, friendly and generally helpful. It's too competitive out there to be mediocre.

We stayed at the Malmaison in Reading for the weekend and expected a high level of attainment for the hotel. Unfortunately for us the service, food quality and staff left us wanting. We have stayed at the Malmaison in other cities and had a great time, we feel let down this time.
