Driving into the hotel car park felt like we had driven in to a post-apocalyptic, and seemingly abandoned world, with half burnt down buildings, and an eerie feel about the place. Eventually, after some aimless and exploratory wandering, we found reception, and it soon became clear that we were amongst only a handful of guests in this large complex. Walking... More

travelling with national holidays to see Charlie and the chocolate factory. for their own reasons they chose a hotel out of London to house their customers after a long drive from north east England. after a mishap with the coach we finally arrived with young children who had been up sine 5am and final arrival 9.15am without a hot meal... After reading the reviews of this we expected the worst. Never judge before seeing yourself. Yes they had a fire. And yes they are trying to fix what happened. But the hotel that is running is lovely. Rooms are nice. Yes a little dated but are lovely to stop in. And the lake view is amazing. Breakfast was amazing too.... More

I kind of expected something a little more modern so very disappointed. The room is spacious but when you see a TV from the 90's with 5 channels (the additional 3 which were Sky News & Sky Sports 1 & 2 didn't work so not really worth mentioning) you know you've stepped back in time.... As for the feather pillows....... More

Stayed for 3 nights in August. Wish I hadn't. Firstly, on their website, it says there is 24 hour room service. But none of the rooms have a phone! Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but you can't call for anything . . . . is that even legal not to have a phone in the room? I left... More

If you check my other reviews you will see I'm not a complainer and always want to give credit where possible. However with this place I feel a sense of public duty to warn my Trip Advisor friends. Now I've stayed here a lot over the years and the location and setting is lovely. But now, please move away and... More

On arriving at the hotel we were quite horrified to see scaffolding and diggers... This was because half the hotel had burned down, something I was not aware of when I booked, we found out later this had actually happened 9 months ago.... Not much improvement since then. We were greeted at the reception with a smile but not very... More

When we arrived at the hotel we nearly missed the car parking at reception. After all, one would expect the car park by reception to be full. I think there were about three other cars there. We got in and there was nobody on reception. Eventually, wandering back and forth someone in a side/admin room spotted us and came to... More

Useless staff from the moment that we arrived (lazy and miserable)Our room was riddled with spiders and bugs, water stains on the walls and ceilings, sweat stains on the sheets, broken interior, dangerous shower parts, half of the hotels fire damage still there after 9 moths! The corridors stank of dampness, not one lift in use! Once we found out... More
