What amazing value we booked direct had a suite at a cheaper price than we would expect for a room. The deal with breakfast and an evening meal was exceptional. Arrived to find that we had £10 to spend as we had booked directly with the hotel. We could not fault anything exceptional service from checking in to checking out....

First impression is very good as the building looks very nice with its traditional stones from Cotswolds. The room was also quite nice and clean even if it was on the small size. The first night, we've had diner at the restaurant and it is where it started to go down! Although the food was decent but not exceptional, the...

We had a large group (32 people) and The Bear was very accommodating for us. The rooms were great. We were in the newer section - the old glove factory. The room was very nice and the bathroom super modern. Some of our group was in the older part of the hotel and it was nice too!

Work trip to stay in the great village of Woodstock. Arrival : no parking ( overflow car park was being refitted ) and we was not notified ( party of 12) Reception did an attempt to let us park anywhere but we ended up on the street moving cars . We stayed overnight with our daughters as part of my wife's birthday celebrations and had dinner in the restaurant. The meal was excellent and enhanced by Thomas who recommended an excellent dessert wine and chatted us through other wines. Amazingly Thomas remembered us from our last visit 12 months ago. A brilliant evening.

Very much looked forward to this trip, we were bitterly disappointed. We could not use the lounge in the evening owing to a private function on Thursday evening and therefore had to have a drink in the bar which was quite noisy. One of our main meals had to be sent back twice as the meat dish was delivered warm...

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Bear Hotel - great room, friendly staff and perfect location. I'll get the couple of 'bad points' out the way - noisy neighbours above our room, I know nothing the hotel can do but there was noisy door banging and the stairs woke us up at 2am both nights! The...

We stayed for 2 nights D.B.&B. booked as a 'winter special'. Incredible value! Our executive twin room was very comfortable, cosy and clean, with tea, coffee & a Nespresso machine. It had a large en-suite bathroom with bath & walk-in shower & lovely toiletries. Unfortunately the bathrobes were small and very old with all the loops broken and really need...

Although I am a British citizen and have visited many parts of England, Wales and Scotland, I had never visited Blenheim Palace in Woodstock. When I began my search for a place to stay near by, I came upon listings for the MacDonald Bear Hotel. My family had indicated that the best hotel in the area was the Bear Hotel...
