We stayed here after being apart for three months due to my work and what a beautiful place!!! the setting is stunning the old walk ways are amazing and beautiful. Our check in was smooth and the lady polite, the room was great!! Lovely features and great black out blinds. It was also very quiet and had lovely views. The...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night recently. It is a very unique property, with many great features. I only gave it a 4, however, because the lighting in the room is very poor. I imagine they must keep the rooms dimly limit as an issue of preservation of the structure?? Otherwise, I just can't imagine...

Stayed here for one night as a surprise for my husband...he didn't know it was a former prison , came as a surprise, especially as he works in the prison service! The hotel entrance was very impressive and checking in was easy. I'd pre-booked hotel parking - this is expensive but worth it as the car was right outside the...

Having spent 3 years studying in Oxford, I used to walk past this hotel and say "one day I'm going to stay there" so for my fiancés 30th birthday we were treated to a night here by my family..we stayed in a superior king room which was in the newer (but by no means new!) building and was directly above...

What a fabulous building, right in the centre of Oxford. Really worth a look, just don't expect much light at night to see anything. Terribly let down by the service and food and ambiance. The brasserie is split into little rooms - ours lacked any kind of atmosphere. The food service was poor - one starter was wrong and the...

A fantastically clever building conversion, a former prison that has managed to maintain the mysterious ambience. The hotel reception is glorious as is the large bar. We stayed in the House Of Correction, which we accessed across the Exercise Yard. Despite this being five star, nobody offered to help with the transportation of our large amount of luggage. The structural...

We booked this hotel after having been treatred to a lunch at the Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons. Being honest, the hotel was the highlight of the day! A really clever conversion of a prison into a hotel, not losing any of the structural character. Our room was three converted cells - yes, a bit dark as there's only one small...

Was really looking forward to our stay here, but felt sadly disappointed. Our room was fine, big enough with a wonderful bathroom, but smelt a bit stale and was very dark with shocking lighting. Found it hard to read or even put make up on. The bed looked a good size, but I have to say the mattress was shocking,...

It's a lovely hotel but the area also known to be a honeypot fails to have anything to do. Unless the day is planned couples cannot be spontaneous as you need to search for something to do. The hotel is amazing and so is the Oxford castle tour but these seem to be the best highlights around the area.
