I booked this hotel for myself and two clients as it was a convenient meeting location, central to us both, or so it appeared on the map. In reality it's difficult to get to and nowhere near anything. I phoned ahead to confirm that I would be paying for my clients room and food bills and that they should not...

We let the Tripadvisor reviews put us off, and booked a family room for £39 at a nearby Premier Inn - rather than pay £120 for the Holt. The rest of our family stayed here, and I haven't heard any complaints so far. We had a family meal in the dining room - which desperately needed added atmosphere (music, lighting,...

I came for a murder mystery dinner a couple of years ago. The hotel and dinner was Ok so I came back this weekend for another murder mystery evening. Dinner was much improved- my pal and I both enjoyed the home made soup. He had a lovely beef pie and my chicken in mushroom sauce was excellent. The veg was...

This is the 4th time we have visited this hotel and unfortunately this was probably the most disappointing. Although we had an upgraded room, the beds were awful, the springs made a loud noise every time you breathed and you were frightened to move about because of this. The bathroom was looking very tatty and desperately in need of a...

What a joy for me to find a Hotel that still has Smoking Rooms on a separate floor (It's NOT Illegal) and so I stayed for 2 nights. From my arrival, through the Bar, Restaurant and Lounge the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. My room (3rd floor) was clean, adequately equipped, quiet & comfortable. The Bar Staff...

For a three nights walking break this was an ideal place to stay with friendly staff, good food and comfortable rooms. For the price we paid it was outstanding value for money. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with both bath and shower. The supply of hot water was probably the best I have ever come across.

We had a two-day trip planned to Oxford, having been invited to a once-in-a-lifetime event at Balliol College, University of Oxford. Due to logistical reasons, we had to cut it back to one, which we did before the deadline for changes. Thank goodness. While this is not the worst hotel I've ever booked--that honour might go to The Black Boy...

Thirty of us stayed for 3 nights at the hotel as part of our walking group autumn break. The staff could not do enough for us - they were unfailingly helpful and cheerful even when the hotel was full. The set menu for dinner was excellent with well-cooked food and a range of choices for each course. The rooms were...
