Building combines traditional and modern style with a relaxed atmosphere. Clean, well run with pleasent staff. Excellent dinner & english breakfast. Rather limited continental breakfast. Stayed two nights in annex. Nice, comfy room.

We stayed here on a Sunday night earlier in the year - it takes me some time to remember to do a review!! The accommodation was in an upstairs, outside room which was stunning. Great sized room, comfy bed, fridge, kettle and everything else you can think of. The bathroom was very contemporary but works very well built into the...

Stayed here with a small group of friends visiting Oxford for the weekend. Clean and well presented rooms, nothing was too much trouble and the food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Despite the weather we had a great weekend at the Bear and Ragged Staff.

A clean and comfortable Inn close to Oxford. We were in room 9 at the top of the main building which has character and an excellent bathroom, but the room is only suitable for guests below 5ft 8ins! Excellent welcome and meal on the Friday night, but service on the Saturday evening not so good and we felt a bit...

Great place with loads of character. Been modernized but just enough to make it comfortable and not lost its period charm. Also modernized its menu so unlike alot of places stuck in the 1970's that just have 'Chips and Greasy' on the menu. Great location and really good place to stay if you are arriving or leaving from Heathrow and...

This hotel is set in the countryside near a lovely historic small village with many of its homes still with thatched roofs. The room was very clean and comfortable with a king size bed. Fabulous breakfast. Staff friendly and efficient. Only about a 10-15 minute drive from Oxford. Would thoroughly recommend.

A welcoming Inn in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, within easy reach of Oxford and away from the awful Oxford traffic. We loved Room 9 on the top floor - very 'quirky' but you do need to be of lesser height! Good pub grub in the evening and a full English breakfast included with the room price.

Very comfortable room with some character and lots of extras; fresh milk in fridge, lots of tea, coffee, CD player, very large shower. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast with a good variety of choice. Very hospitable hosts. Would book again.

The room was large with an amazing bathroom with skylights. Very quiet and tranquil. Dinner was lovely and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was served fast and had a selection of anything you could think of. Polite staff and great waiters/waitresses. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be staying again.

wonderful surprise at the quality of our stay here. The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The fresh milk is a lovely touch, so much nicer than the usual cartons. We had dinner - the food was amazing, with the fish and chips rated the best ever. Breakfast was also first class. Plenty of parking available, and not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Not only does the Bear and Ragged Staff serve fantastic food throughout the day, its conversion to a Country Inn is complete with the opening in December 2012 of the last five of nine rooms. The Bear is now in a position to offer a full suite of services to the discerning traveler whether on business or just looking for a home away from home for a few days. Our food ethos can be summed up very simply, local where possible, absolutely fresh, prepared in our own kitchen. The Bear's food offering can best be described as eclectic, mainly British food, prepared with loving care and attention in well equipped kitchens, beautifully presented and served by well trained floor staff. And all this with a wine list carefully selected for quality and value. ... more   less
