Very nice hotel near the center of Oxford. We had a very nice stay here for 2 days in june 2011 and visited Oxford from the Hotel. It is only a few minutes walking from the center of the town. We will visit it again!

This hotel is very cosy, you can feel like at your grandmother's house. The River hotel is oldfashioned, but because of that you can feel real british atmosphere. We slept very well. Beds are very soft. The hotel is clean and staff are helpful. Very nice to look at the river during breakfast.

Biggest asset is the free parking and a nice full English breakfast. Location was good. Lovely river walk at the side of the hotel along the Thames. This hotel is in dire need of a renovation as the rooms are stuck in the '60's or maybe the '50? Terrible wall paper, old bathroom and old carpets make the family bedroom...

To be fair to this Hotel, I will start with the positives: Our room was clean..... It is in a reasonably good location within walking distance of the town.... MOST of the staff were nice.... Breakfast was good.... comfy bed and surprisingly, had a good nights sleep. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. We hadn't booked anything in Oxford in...

I stayed here before and didn't mind that it was a bit tatty as it was clean enough and the shower worked. Having stayed again (and in the same room) I found that some of the grubbiness that I had thought merely an oversight was still there, a suspect stain on the dressing room stool and a brown mark on...

so it was such bonus that the Hotel was so nice. Last minute plan to stay in Oxford and we couldn't find accommodation. Looks like a big old house and upon entering, all looked a little dated, as did the room. But it was spotless, warm, cozy, friendly, quiet and provided everything you needed. All the staff we encountered were...

We liked this hotel so much we stayed for an additional night. Very convenient for city centre and the staff are efficient and eager to please. The rooms are slightly old fashioned i.e. Sheets and blankets rather than duvets but the beds were comfortable.

If you like showers that fluxuate on their own between hot and cold, after you spent the night on a mattress that offers little support and folds you up like a taco, then this is your place. Where is the second bathing towel for my travel partner, and why doesn't anyone answer at the front desk? Why is the "free...

With fear we'd have to drive back home after circling Oxford, unable to find nice accommodation within walking distance of the City for our impromptu weekend treat, we spotted the sign and braced ourselves for the worst that the 'old style' and tired appearance suggested. PJ, (the Proprietor) was on reception and booked us in in a businesslike manner, she...

First impressions the Hotel/ B&B when we arrived needed some updating....with an unique smell ! The propietor was not the most welcoming...the bedroom was basic... the shower rail was coming off, the water was intermitent, tiles in the bathroom needed some t.l.c. The breakfast and staff was good, the location with parking was priceless, late night access card good idea. Overall,...
