The location of the hotel is fantastic - right in the centre - excellent for shops and colleges. Entrance to the reception area is up steep stairs - not for the disabled. Reception staff were friendly. The room , although booked as a "de luxe" room, was nothing special and, as an example, the duvet was old and very lumpy....

I am sorry that due to a problem that could not be sorted out immediately you had the inconvenience of moving hotels. On this occasion we could only find limited availability in the city centre. you preferred to move further out and as you say we paid for a taxi. I feel a one star is very unfair as you...

Stayed for one night in a twin room (the only room left, or would have selected double) while in Oxford for business. The bed I slept in was comfortable (I assume the other one was too but didn't check), although it did squeak quite a lot. The tea and coffee facilities in my room were good with nice quality and...

For £150 a night, I certainly did not expect the dire level of service I had the misfortunate of receiving. The quality of the room was subpar for this price range, in particular the uncomfortable pillows and mattress. The manager was incredibly discourteous and lacks basic customer service skills. The wifi was barely working. Oxford is a beautiful city and...

The majority of our reviews are in the main positive. It is always disappointing when someone gives such a terrible review. Our staff always aim to give the best service possible and deal with any problems immediately. Our mattresses and pillows are of a deluxe quality as the most important thing for us is our guests have a comfortable nights...

Stayed at the Buttery for three nights in December. Centrally located on Broad Street in front of where several walking tours begin, it is ideal for the average traveler. For those arriving by bus to Oxford it is only about a five minute walk to the bus station. The hotel is located on the second and third floor of the...

Stayed for one night, midweek while in the area on business. Hotel is average. No iron in room, no tea/coffee making facilities. Basic rooms. Bed was okay, but pillows were awful. Felt like sleeping on 2 pieces of paper. Cant fault the location, right in the heart of Oxford its ideal for exploring. No parking and none close by. It...

Good location between old and new town. Noisy if at front due to undergraduates at Balliol College. Rooms (stayed in 303 and 105). No lift and narrow steep stairs (ok for me). Rooms spacious for UK standards. Good bathrooms. 105 (and few others) have saniflow plumping which is noisy. Very clean and comfortable but old windows (listed probably) and heating...

This nice hotel is very centrally located, just about 8-10 min walking distance from airport bus shuttle stop. The train station is also about 10 min away. The building is old but nicely maintained. Our room was big and clean with fully upgraded bathroom. Oxford is a student's city so be prepared for some noisy partying outside from time to...

The staff here are so helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble. Wi-Fi in your bedroom, if it does not work just let the reception know and a quick reset fixes it or I think they will even lend you an Ethernet cable. Room 202 twin on the 2nd floor was spacious, warm, quiet, bathroom had beautiful tiles. Everything...

The hotel is very nice with all sort off stairs leading you to your room. The room we had was on the third floor and the view is awesome! Breakfast croissants are very tasty and the staff very friendly!

I just completed another overnight stay at The Buttery and once again had a delightful experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of historic Oxford, with easy access to a number of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, and of course, many colleges. The room was clean with modern amenities. I look forward...
