Good things? Good location, friendly and knowledgeable owner, decent breakfast. Bad things? Not cheap, so I'd expect it to be more than a glorified bunkhouse. The tea/coffee things were set out when we arrived but we had to go in search of milk, the teapot had old cold tea in it, a cup was cracked. The room was cramped, we... More

The location is great, the host is welcoming and knowledgeable and the breakfast is good. However, our room was cramped, there is nowhere to sit apart from the bed, and there is no WiFi. It's a perfectly OK stopover if you're walking Hadrian's Wall but it's too close to a bunkhouse to be a good choice for a longer stay.

A great stop off midway between Hexham and Haltwhistle on the most scenic - and strenuous! - stretch of Hadrians Wall. Comfortable, centrally heated annex accommodation is supplemented by the owners helpfulness if everything from a rack for drying clothes to a lift to the pub for dinner. Breakfast - and maths lessons! A round the family kitchen table is... More

Tris is a warm and welcoming host. Fresh tea and icecream on our arrival. Beggarbog is situated close to the Hadrian's Wall in a beautiful environment. Nice rooms, quiet surroundings. Pub with excellent food in nearby Twice Brewed. And a delicious breakfast prepared by Tris himself!

The most lovely setting, and a very warm welcome from Tris made this one of my favourite spots while hiking Hadrian's Wall Path. Very close to Housesteads Fort, be careful walking the short stretch of fast road to BeggarBog. We had two rooms, a double for my husband and I, and a twin for our young adult children. The rooms... Despite not having a sign other than a plaque on the wall Beggar Bog was easily found. We knew it was just before Housesteads and used that as a guide.... We were greeted nicely by Lucy and Tris despite having arrived a bit early after our drive down from Edinburgh. This location is absolutely perfect for Hadrian's wall walks, exploring... More

We decided to spend two nights here as part of our Hadrian’s Wall Walk so that we could explore the area more thoroughly. The double room is small (the chairs if you wish to sit on them are stored under the bed); it shares the tea/coffee making facilities with the twin room in the small corridor. The bed was very... My daughter and I stopped for a night at this lovely B&B while walking Hadrian's Wall. We arrived, wet, cold and tired and were greeted by Tris who was so helpful and accommodating. Our room (the twin) was well equipped and beds comfy. Breakfast, with fellow walkers (also staying there), the next morning was very good and Tris gave lots... More

Very nice guesthouse on the Hadrian's Wall path. Beautiful room, good breakfast, the owner could not make dinner but took us to a local pub, that was very kind of him. Just a couple of things, there's no sign on the hills to show how to get to the site, and a wifi connection would be appreciated.

We cycled along the wall and chose beggar bog as a stop due to its prime location next to housesteads. Unfortunately the dinner option is currently not available but Tris helped us to get a dinner! Many thanks again! The place is clean, warm and all you need for an overnight stay but not so suitable for anything longer as... More
