This B&B is at a busy street junction just outside York City walls so there was traffic noise but we did have a good nights sleep and the room, although small, was comfortable and spotlessly clean and well maintained. The owners were down to earth, friendly and helpful. The location is close enough to the centre of York to walk...

I have stayed in York many times (I even used to live in York) & this is definitely the best B&B I've ever stayed in whilst in York. I can't recommend Barbican House highly enough. Good location & very friendly hosts. Lovely rooms with high quality toiletries, complimentary sherry & an amazing tea tray. Excellent breakfast - I'm vegan &...

Adrian and Ann were excellent hosts during our recent 2 night stayat the Barbican House. From the genuine homely welcome, the sherry in our room, suggestions of things to do and recommendations for our evening dinner they couldn't have done any more to make our stay more enjoyable. Breakfast is first class - you're unlikely to find any better at...

Just returned from an overnight stay in York, having had a fabulous time. The hotel was lovely from start to finish. The hosts were extremely welcoming, providing us with a map of York on arrival and explaining some of the places worth a visit, including recommending local restaurants for dinner! The hotel itself is only a very short walk into...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights over the Easter weekend. The hosts were lovely and knowledgeable about things to do in York and even gave us free tickets to a ghost walk when we mentioned we were interested in going on one. The room was spotless and had everything we needed in it. The bed was lovely...

A family member gifted myself and my husband tickets to see Jules Holland and his Blues Band, in November 2012, at the Barbican, together with a stay over in the Barbican House. And what a lovely little gem of a place it is. We were greeted by the proprietor, who showed us to our room (No.1) on the first floor....

We received a lovely welcome with recommendations for local restaurants with directions and maps. The decor in our room was lovely, no musty old furniture and a lovely comfortable bed. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate - you name it, it was there along with a decanter of sherry. The shower room was very modern and clean. Only one little thing, the...
