I'm not sure if it was just bad luck but we have just returned from a weekend at the Churchill and are glad to be home. It's a lovely looking hotel, a bit dusty in places but great location. We arrived on Friday night as a surprise for our first weekend away in years without our children. The disasters started...

The hotel had been recommended to us and was brilliant for our short stay in York. Easy access for all the sights we wanted, very friendly and informative staff, great breakfast and room for our family of 4, we will definitely book again.

The Churchill is well situated, being about five minutes walk from Stoneygate in the walls of York. It is also on the main road into York so finding it and parking in the grounds is relatively hassle free. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. That's about it really. No real wow factor,...

A small (42 rooms) individual boutique hotel that delivers in design, amazing service and great food. We had a family room. It was on the small side, but this is a hotel very near the centre of York and you can't expect palatial room sizes, particularly in such a beautiful building. We were treated very well by the staff.

We stayed here just for one night but really didn't want to leave. The staff were superb, unfailingly friendly and helpful despite being very busy. The hotel is really attractive and has a luxury feel to it. We had no issue paying the £10 for overnight parking. It's a 10 minute walk to the minster and the rest of York's...

We stayed in this hotel mid February and had an excellent stay. We were allocated to the Admirality suite and the room was immaculate. Beautiful reception area with very friendly and welcoming staff. Only criticism was that a large group staying at the hotel were making a lot of noise outside our room at midnight and noise can often be...

I booked this hotel as surprise for my husband... additional night away for our Anniversary. Good points - the proximity to York is fantastic and I think £10 to park overnight near the city centre very reasonable. The decor and tone of the hotel is lovely and luxurious which is what I wanted so overall happy with the hotel. Unfortunately...

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the hotel. It is very central to the centre and Shambles. The staff were very helpful and made some great recommendations for us. York is very pretty and a lovely place to visit.

A spotlessly clean place, although with no public rooms and rather small "standard price" bedrooms. Staff are universally friendly and helpful. The location is excellent to get into the centre of York on foot. Breakfasts were really very good, and (surprisingly) NOT self-service. To be honest, the dinner menu was rather unimaginative, and depressing to find that no bitter was...
