If Middlethorpe Hall were a run of the mill hotel, then without question I would have ranked this "excellent". However given the "status" of the hotel, I felt that this was not quite "up to the mark". The Tea itself is plentiful. There is a good choice of teas or you can have coffee. There is then a selection of...

Stayed in a two bedroom garden suite and couldn't believe how spacious it was. In addition to the two bedrooms we had a small kitchen, eating area and sitting room a well as a private patio. We arrived at lunchtime and decided to have lunch outside, which was lovely although we sat for a long time without being acknowledged by...

This hotel is absolutely first class. Everything about it is superb, from drinks in the Drawing Room, to the Restaurant, to the bedrooms. Quality of service is top class. Although it's close to the racecourse, the hotel is much more than a place to stay whilst you are going racing. Make sure you try the taster menu in the restaurant;...

I cannot praise this lovely hotel highly enough! It's a very beautiful building, in a lovely location. The staff were delightful, very professional and super-efficient. Our room was wonderful and the food was superb. What more can I possibly say? Will definitely return and will definitely try the other two National Trust Historic House Hotels.

We arrived on a beautiful English summer's day and viewed Middlethorpe Hall with some apprehension, as we are not hotel dwellers at all and really do prefer self-catering holidays. Our apprehension was unfounded, however, as upon climbing the front steps of the Hall, we were greeted so warmly by Grant and afterwards, the Receptionist that we felt at home right...

I could not recommend this hotel highly enough from the booking process, arrival and check in, staff, service and food. The hotel and grounds are beautiful but by far the best bit was the impeccable staff and service we were given, nothing was too much trouble. I for one would highly recommend and will definitely be returning!!!! I did not...

We made Middlethorpe Hall our destination for Julie's birthday as we can always rely on top-notch service, surroundings and cuisine - it was however during the start of the Tour de France so there was much evidence of yellow bikes decorated everywhere in Yorkshire and some very beautifully decorated bikes and flowers at the entrance to the hotel. Whilst reading...

Visited for a birthday dinner and overnight stay at the end of June. The property is, we believe, owned by the National Trust and is a beautiful Georgian building not far from York race course with extensive grounds, croquet lawn etc. We had booked a superior double in the courtyard but when we checked in found we had been upgraded...

Based on the reviews and experience of friends, we were looking forward to staying at Middlethorpe Hall. There is much that is good about the place, but overall we were disappointed. Pros: Superb service Nice pool, spa & fitness center Convenient to downtown York with bus stop nearby Excellent afternoon tea Cons: Tiny "deluxe" room on the third floor Ridiculously...

We are sorry that this guest was not satisfied with his visit and in particular with the experience in the dining room. The team here cares deeply about the comfort of our guests and their enjoyment of a stay, and satisfies most people as the other reports on this site illustrate.
