Called in on a busy Saturday afternoon, getting a drink was slightly chaotic but we got served eventually. Hadn't booked a table for food but was told there was one available so got seated straight away, although you can't eat in the bar area and have to go into another room where the food is served. We only had a...

I organised a birthday party for my mother-in-law in the ghost room (which is amazing). The party was a success due to the excellent buffet provided by Maggie and wonderful hospitality provided by Andy and his amazing staff. Thank you from all the Eden family x

We just went in for a look and a drink, the lounge is small with round tables, -bit close together, the table tops were polished up lovely you usually see water marks on that type of surface! The atmosphere was nice made even better with the huge open log fire burning. In contrast to the dark decor here the ladies...

We stayed here with 2 other couples for a weekend of beer and ghost hunting. What a find. Great location. Free parking which is expensive in york. Wonderful traditional bar with roaring open fire and great hospitality. The food is also gorgeous and the rooms are spotless with everything you need for a wonderful stay. Luckily I didn't see any...

Our first return visit for over three decades & little had changed in character & charm. The beer is as good as ever I recall & lunch was wonderful, freshly prepared & delicious - with very generous portions! It was a fitting reminder as to how real English pubs were & fortunately can retain the same level of quality, albeit...

Lovely traditional inn serving British fayre. Lots of pies and stews. Open fire place and lovely to spend a bit of time. We had steak pies and rabbit stew - all really tasty and some nice gravy as well. Staff are super friendly and helpful - but the tables were a little close together. It wasn't s problem for us,...

My only regret is that we didn't eat their delicious food. I really wish we would have had a meal here. However, we arrived before anyone else this day and met the most wonderful Carol who was incredibly sweet and told us about this fascinating building and all its rich, rich history. Then we met some awesome people who came...
