Detailed Reviews
We arrived at The Georgian Townhouse having been let down by another hotel and were greeted with friendly helpful staff who honoured an online rate without question. The room was obviously recently refurbished which has been done to a high standard, all the little touches but especially a Smeg fridge containing a jug of cold water was very welcomed on some of the hottest days of the year,
The room was warm but with the fan provided we were able to keep ourselves cool. The walk in shower was a particular highlight and used several times to cool off after walking around the city!
The only reason for not five stars was the location of the room directly above the kitchen which had the fan going for most of the day and late into the evening. This did not particularly bother us however we were aware of it. The quality of the room however more than made up for any noise!
The hotel is in a great location and easily walkable into the city so no need to move car unless visiting outside of the city. We will definitely return and recommend to others.

We stayed in room 2 which was of the consistently high standard of previous visits to the Georgian Townhouse. The room has everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible - small fridge with a jug of milk, kettle, coffee maker, selection of teas/coffee pods - even some delicious choc chip cookies. The bathroom is spacious with a roll top bath and overhead rain shower plus complimentary Duck toiletries which smell heavenly. All the staff are polite and only too willing to help with anything. The restaurant serves a fab roast on Sundays along with a wide menu to suit all tastes, and the breakfasts are freshly prepared to order. There’s a lovely little play area in the restaurant to keep young children entertained whilst waiting for their food. The location is perfect for walking into town and free parking is provided during your stay.

We stayed here for a romantic night away and stayed in The Stables this room is stunning as soon as you walk down the path I knew I would love it!
The heating was on and lovely and warm as soon as arrived, very clean and tidy and had everything you could need!
Bed very comfy and linen spotless
The bathroom is special as in a round room and was so lovely
The lighting could do with a re think as the bathroom needed more delicate lighting like fairy lights or a lit garland on the window ledge for example and in the bedroom there is a bare bulb hanging from ceiling which was disappointing as was the ugly black spotlight.
The breakfast was delicious however we got charged £12 each when we were told on checkin that it was included!
Parking is sparse at the weekend which is a shame.
I would stay again but needs a tiny few touches.

Myself and a colleague stayed at the Georgian Townhouse as the first time we have had a business trip away since pre-lockdown. The hotel has a lovely ambience and stand out levels of customer care with every single member of staff being friendly, attentive and courteous. The rooms are comfortable and come with good quality coffee and tea making facilities as well as a mini Smeg fridge which enhances the retro feel. There was no skimping on the towels that were large soft and fluffy. Outstanding however was the outside area which is an absolute oasis in the middle of Norwich with a really beautiful garden, seating area and herb beds. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast sat outside in the sunshine. As an aside the hotel have an excellent understanding of allergies and almost the entire menu is available in gluten free!

Good location for a visit to UEA. Large room and pleasant to look at. The restaurant was good slow and pricey waitress was very good.
Arrived at 6.30 no-one on reception rang the bell as requested but no one answered. Waited several more minutes I went to the bar were I was told I didn't ring the bell or the bell didn't ring. Someone came a few minutes later but couldn't find our reservation and that took several more minutes to find. If the wait on arrival was a one off that would be fine but it wasn't as the same thing happened on check out.
We were put on the ground floor disabled room although we were able bodied. The room was nice and large but could have done with a deep clean was very warm and had to turn off the radiator off. Quilt was very thin and the pillows had to be folded in half as again very thin. Was two single beds side by side that were very hard. There was also a very large damp patch on the ceiling approx 2 sq needs sorting.
The bathroom was a wet room so everything got soaked as no screen and only a small bath mat.
Nice bar in room that has to be paid for tea and coffee but no milk. Again tried to contact reception but no answers so went to Tescos.
We included breakfast in our room rate. Went to breakfast at 8.25 waited to be seated the waitress was having a long conversation with the chef she didn't stop even though she had seen us. I had to approach her and I had to wait for her to finish before I asked her to help. They were not busy only 3 other people to the whole resultant. Waited for the conversation for so long I know all the details not management potential in my opinion. Not good customer service as as the owner of a service business myself I would not of been happy for a customer of mine to be kept waiting.
We were seated and given menus but again had to wait 10 mins for tea and coffee to arrive. Finally 20 minutes after we were seated they asked for our order only after serving another couple before us who arrived after us for breakfast. By this time we had had enough so had some toast told the waiter that we had been kept waiting so long we no longer had time to eat our all ready paid for breakfast and he said nothing.
If they were busy I would understand but there were three members of staff and only 4 customers in the restaurant I being one of them.
Such a shame as could have been excellent we would have used the hotel regularly as my daughter is moving there but we will try another hotel and maybe they will deserve our custom.

We rate this as 5 star in the context of a very reasonable Sunday night price point, cheaper than a travelodge when breakfast and parking charges are added on.
We travelled to see family and stayed less than 24 hrs but found the location to be ideal, walking distance to the city centre and with free parking. We were allocated room 1 which is on the ground floor just off reception and facing the car park. It’s a disabled access room, possibly larger than usual and with a wet room style bathroom.
The positives are the size of the room, the huge and comfortable bed, the mini bar and selection of drinks and snacks (although we didn’t require anything), the quality toiletries and linens, a coffee making machine, the number and range of teabags and fresh milk in the fridge.
On the negative side, we found the room was very gloomy with dark grey paint with turquoise above the picture rail, grey curtains and seating and a dark carpet which had a stain. The large sash windows had secondary glazing which effectively cut out the noise and draught but the voile Roman blind was fixed down and couldn’t be lifted to let in more light and appeared quite grubby. The vintage furniture wouldn’t be my choice (I remember the 1960s with little fondness!) and had seen better days.
Our room rate included breakfast which was cooked to order from a menu with plenty of choice, served at the table rather than the standard buffet and was excellent in terms of quality and quantity.
We ate in the pub at lunchtime with our relatives. The Sunday lunch menu was varied and the food was good.
What also stands out is the pleasant, friendly staff who were extremely helpful. At the right price I think you’d be suitably pleased with the Georgian Townhouse but if paying more you would find fault.

Currently staying here in The Stables which is an apartment across the road from the main hotel. Returned back from theatre tonight to bar at 9.45 pm and asked for food, bar staff told us that even though they usually serve til 10 pm, they were cleaning the kitchen down and so we were too late. Recommended a pub up the road a good walk away. We asked for cheese and biscuits or anything cold, but we were told ‘no’. As a result, evening ended in a mad dash around Tesco before they closed. Not how I thought our evening would end. Good job we were sober and could get ourselves there!! I can understand that a hotel may not want to accommodate walk-ins but it seems that even as a hotel guest, you will receive the same treatment. A disappointing first night here for us, but lesson learned - eat in the city if on a night out.

Great location, easy walk into town, complimentary onsite parking (a bonus in Norwich!). Pleasant if a little tired in parts.
We were in Room 1 - mobility impaired room, ground floor at front of building.
This room felt spacious. I booked the smallest room category, not sure if this one is larger.
The Room is well appointed and comfortable with nice additions such as water and fresh milk in fridge. Nespresso machine, kettle, tea and 2 little packets of biscuits. However bedside tables were very marked and felt dirty, not the 'shabby chick' it’s supposed to be.
The bathroom is nicely appointed with quality toiletries provided in easy to use large dispensers. However did not like the shower with seat (looked rusty) and no protection for the water, underside of toilet seat also brown/rusting.
Main downside of this room is with cars/ trucks parked in front including noisy delivery truck at 4AM with loud reversing voice, beeps and flashing lights directly outside our window. Another noisy truck delivery just before 7am which would not have been such a problem hadn’t been woken at 4am. I did raise this on checkout and they were surprised about the delivery at 4am….
Service is pleasant. Nice to have facility of bar/ restaurant too.
Despite ‘issues’ with this room we would definitely choose to stay here again next time we are in Norwich (and we have tried out quite a few hotels!), just not room 1.

We stayed in the ground floor room 1 (accessible friendly) for 2 nights. The room was extremely well laid out with a fully stocked Smeg fridge, execellent lighting and beautiful fixtures and fittings. The restaurant was huge and we ate in the covered garden area as well as within the pub area. The food was delicious and the staff friendly, approachable and very helpful. Best of all was the value -breakfast -anything we wanted off the breakfast menu -was included, and the final bill was an unexpected surprise. Would definitely recommend if you are doing a city centre break.

Situated on a busy road on the south side of the city, near the Catholic cathedral. Easy to get to from the south without negotiating Norwich’s centre. A 20 minute walk to the centre. About half an hour from the station. Free parking, which is a huge bonus in this city. However the car park did get full so if you go out on a weekend it’s likely you will have trouble when you return. This is a pub and restaurant with a massive and lovely outside space and it caters for events. This did not badly affect our stay despite some noise when people were leaving after a party.
The room was small and dark but very stylish as is the whole hotel. It did get hot at night even when the weather was chilly. Comfy bed, kettle and coffee pod machine, fridge. Fresh milk every day and a jug of water in the fridge. Storage is a real issue. We had hanging space (next to the kettle!) but little drawer space, our friends had some drawer space but nowhere to hang clothes. As we were there for a week this became irritating. The bedside tables are small shelves, taken up with a phone and a clock on one and a massive lamp on the other. The bathroom was very smart with a shower but no bath. Toiletries were good quality in large refillable containers. Towels superb quality and changed daily.
No lift. We are getting on a bit and struggled upstairs with our cases.
Breakfast extra but well worth paying for, lovely fresh food and wonderful staff. The staff generally were very helpful and friendly, welcoming and informative- a real asset to the hotel.
We ate dinner there twice and it was good. The bar is large. It would have been good to have had a few comfy areas to sit in when we just wanted a drink rather than have to sit at tables set up for food.
The hotel needs to lighten up the rooms, put wall light over the beds, provide better storage in all rooms, get rid of the coffee machine and provide instant coffee instead and remove a lot of the ‘stylish’ clutter as rooms are too small for style over substance. I want somewhere to put my book at night, a light by which to put on make-up and a drawer for my undies!
Overall I would recommend the hotel and would be happy to return.
