As a well seasoned Australian traveller I can honestly say that I have never tasted an English Breakfast like the one served at 38 St Giles. The tomatoes, bacon, mushrooms, poached eggs and local sausage with Brown sauce is to die for. Holly and her Team need to be commended on their service. Individually cooked breakfasts, and no task too...

We found 38 St. Giles Bed and Breakfast by default having first rented an apartment that suddenly became unavailable due to the owner's whim. We were very lucky to do so as we will never stay anywhere else on our annual trips to this beautiful Norfolk city. The rooms are lovely but the most outstanding feature is the service. We...

Me and my wife were staying in the suite and the room is outstanding, with 5star luxury and beautiful decor. The staff are very friendly and made the most amazing breakfast. I was so relaxed there it was brilliant

I stayed in the Nelson room, which is located on the ground floor. The room is beautifully decorated, the bed is extremely comfortable and the bathroom sparkling clean and featuring Crabtree & Evelyn products. However, having no wardrobe or other place to hang or keep clothing was a bit inconvenient given I stayed for 3 nights. This wouldn't really matter...

It's easy to walk past 39 St Giles - to get to the front door you need to walk down a side alley which leads to a children's day nursery! My room was on the ground floor and faced the street. I worried about the noise as it's a lovely building with traditional sash windows but it was fine. The...

I have stayed at many hotels in various countries across the world. In terms of style, comfort, service, quality and attention to detail, 38 St Giles is in my top 5. Once you have experienced a traditional English Breakfast at St Giles, you will never want to try any where else. The bedding quality and comfort is 5 star and...

The good experience started when booking over the phone and finding them very accommodating to my requests. Arrival saw a warm welcome as we were shown to our room which was spacious and spotlessly clean. It was furnished sympatheticly to the age of the place. The homemade chocolate brownies were a great touch and absolutely delicious! The bed gave a...

I was lucky enough to be taken here for my birthday. The hotel is lovely, great rooms and staff are very friendly. Very good location for lots of nice restaurants and for city centre. Highly recommended.

We stayed at 38 St Giles for 2 nights on a Thursday and Friday. When we arrived we were greeted by Holly who showed us to our room the Gurney suite. Beautiful room and very spacious. It had a separate seating area with a large leather sofa. This included a kettle and a very nice coffee machine. Each afternoon they...

After reading all the reviews I decided to book 38 St. Giles for a weekend trip with my 12 year old son centered on a NCFC football match. We've been to Norwich many times, but this was our first time at 38 St. Giles. We are used to staying in more traditional hotels, but there really wasn't a difference. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
38 St Giles is a grand house with a long and interesting history. It was built in 1700 for the Gurney family and became home to the former Lord Mayor of Norwich. Its neatly tucked-away entrance just off St Giles Street creates an intimacy and privacy that is unrivalled. We are the most centrally located boutique accommodation in Norwich, a stone's throw from the largest outdoor covered marketplace in the UK and adjacent to 'the lanes' - one of the oldest parts of this fine city and an area of national repute boasting well over 200 independent retailers of fashion, food and just about anything else that you might wish to buy. Inside the main entrance we have a grand staircase from which most of the bedrooms are accessed. From our wonderful double rooms to our two large suites you will be surrounded in comfort and a sense of history. We have chosen an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary pieces of furniture & artefacts, sumptuous throws, cushions and rugs. Our bathrooms feature oversized walk-in showers and rain shower heads, several rooms also have baths. White, fluffy towels and a range of quality toiletries help ensure that your morning ablutions are a positive experience! In selecting our bedding we have chosen simply embroidered 400 thread count white Egyptian cotton (not easy to iron but wonderful next to the skin) with goose down and feather pillows and duvets. Homemade cakes are served on arrival with a choice of teas or our specially blended and locally roasted coffee. We bake our own bread, make our own preserves and source all of our ingredients from the best local suppliers. No corners are cut in attempting to provide you with a relaxing, comfortable and memorable stay. We are happy to cater for small wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries and other group bookings. We can even create a special meal with fine wines and champagne on arrival for that extra special treat. ... more   less
