This was our first visit to the Shangri-La The Shard. It was excellent. All the staff we met were brilliant...friendly and efficient. They all seemed to care and want to give excellent customer service which they did. The rooms are views are out of this world. This will not be our last visit !

So only being to London twice, I wanted to make this a special weekend…and what a weekend it was. To start with we were greeted very politely by concierge staff, we then dropped our bags off at reception who held onto them until checking in time so we could go and explore London. At check in, we were greeted by a very polite and helpful lady, we were situated in a suite at room 4505 and could see London bridge and over the city. The room itself was very clean, tidy, fresh and the minibar stocked up (we didn’t really use much of the mini bar but wish we had). The shower and bathroom were amazing, would have liked a bath looking over the view for the price we had paid but the view was just as good from the bedroom. We ate at the Oblix west which I will write about in a separate view, the only downside to this was we had to queue up in the rain even though we were staying at the shard hotel. Breakfast in Ting was lovely, buffet and continental breakfast was served and was a large variety of food to choose from. Not impressed we were asked what drinks we wanted and orange juice was charged at £4 per glass. Upon check out, we left our bags in reception again and decided to go into London again and recollect them before traveling home. One thing to lookout for was when I got the final invoice, after already paying and noticing, Service charge is added onto everything - even the room, we we ended up paying £90 for a room service charge on top of the room itself which I thought was very unfair. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend away and we would 100% reform d it. Just keep an eye out of r the hidden charges.

Really good vibe, great seating and views. Food and drinks were very enjoyable too. Rahul and Jenny were wonderful hosts. We had the 5 course vegetarian meal - good to see vegan options executed to a very high degree. Dessert was especially good.

A wonderful stay in a real gem of London. The Shard is situated on the south bank and with easy reach of all Top London actractions. The hotel is top top end and it's starting to show its age a little, however the views are just draw dropping. We upgraded to a city room view which was money well spent. We was unaware of the issue with the reflecting glass a night, this was a big issue for us and to Shangri-La's credit they absoulty looked after us and went above and beyond. I do think though you should be made aware of this at the time of booking, at night with the blinds up you can see into your neighbours rooms (bathrooms) I do get you can close the blinds however when we paid for up upgrade for the view it seems counter productive to shut all the blinds. GONG was a really cool bar again with amazing views. We didn't have breakfast it Wass over £40pp. The pool is small but you have to book, I guess this is so they don't over load it. It was empty when we was up there at 10:30, I was told everyone checks out at 11 so its the best time! Nice sofa's and coffee up there. One changing room and one loo was pretty poor! We felt so special up there, I really can't wait to go back. 4pm Check in and 11am Check out is mad but it is what it is! Thanks again Shangri-la we will be back!

This is the second time we have stayed! The first time we were blown away by the whole experience so felt we wanted to return. We were coming to London for a white tie event at Mansion House so decided to treat ourselves to staying for 4 nights. Initially we were disappointed to be told on arrival the sky pool and sauna were closed for maintenance. We did feel the hotel should have contacted us as it wasn’t closed when we booked. Anyway we were offered several forms of compensation. We opted for complimentary breakfast each morning. We could have had an upgrade but the hotel wanted us to pay too large a proportion of the daily rate and on viewing the room we didn’t think it was worth it. However, the room we were allocated was very small compared to the one we stayed in previously and the view looked out over the railway lines! Not impressed! The hotel had enquired via what’s app if we were happy or needed anything so we shared our disappointment with them. Well we’re glad we did. The next day after we returned from a shopping trip we were met by Anne who wanted to show us a different suite she thought we might like. We did not like it we LOVED IT. it was much larger than either rooms we had stayed in. The views from both the bedroom and the bathroom were magnificent. It certainly had the wow factor! ` What we really like about this hotel are the staff. The majority knew our names after 1 day. They always greeted us with a cheery smile and had time to chat and enquire about our day. They made us feel very special throughout our stay. Infact I felt like a VIP! The restaurants are all fab, the views are obviously incredible. The food is also wonderful. We have to say a big thank you to Yemmi(front of house at Ting) at breakfast. He was so happy and friendly and he gave us a great table. Carmelita was our waitress one morning and she went above and beyond to ensure we had the best meal. She was so friendly and again made us feel very special. Another asset to the hotels wonderful team. So to sum this up the hotel is fantastic! The staff are even better. You will be in for a real treat if you choose to stay here. Also try all the restaurants and bars because they are all different.

This review is specifically for Jamila in the Gong Bar. As a guest at this hotel, I repeatedly experience unpleasant attitudes from people at the establishment's access points. After being asked twice at the main entrance why I am entering the hotel and meeting a cold-personality greeter at the Gong Bar reception desk, Jamila came to our table and lit up the room and all of my group's spirits. She personified what we know and expect the Shangri-la brand even in the midst of others who do the opposite. She (and to be fair, the guest services crew at check-in) were stars among clouds in guest experience.
