My husband and I stayed here several years ago and I've always wanted to come back with my family. I was unsure how the hotel would be with kids since it's a little more adult focused and trendy. It's in a very central location and you can walk or take an Taxi/Uber or the Tube anywhere Central you need to be fairly quickly.
On arrival we received a very warm welcome and in the room there was milk & cookies and a chocolate bar for her (see photos). They also had an amazing "little person" room service menu that we used a few times that was fabulous.
We stayed in a room with 2 queens which was a bit more spacious than the 1 king standard suite we stayed in last time. It was impeccably clean, bathroom was huge and the lighting was better than a few years ago (it's brighter) it just takes a day or 2 to figure out what switches are what.
What stands out to me about these hotels is the high level of service, everyone knows who you are, and wants to willingly help with anything you need. In the chocolate bar, there was a "Golden Ticket" (see photo) and we brought it down to the bar to claim. I don't want to spoil the surprise for others but my daughter had a ton of fun and the two bartenders (apologies I didn't get their names) were amazingly gracious with her.
The only negative was that we had to leave and go home. Hopefully next summer when we visit London we can stay here again.

We stayed at the Edition with our two kids, 11 and 14. Though we thought we booked a room for 4, when it turned out that we did not, the check in person was incredibly helpful finding a resolution that would be comfortable for us all, without spending an additional fortune. When I lamented to my husband I forgot my round hairbrush, I was told to just give them a little time to see if they had one - and then a perfectly new one showed up in the room. In passing while looking to borrow a scissor, I mentioned we were in London our way to Paris for Taylor Swift. That night, when we walked in after dinner, there was the latest Taylor Swift Vinyl, snake rings, and friendship bracelets waiting for us. Our housekeeping attendant was SO lovely, she saw that my kids books were out, she left them bookmarks with seeds in them they could plant in the US to take bits of London home with them. The room service was a bit "meh" flavor wise but with so many places to eat right outside (Rovi just round the way was our favorite) its not a big deal.
The attention to detail and the feeling of being home is SO VERY REAL. The place was clean, friendly, cozy - and an absolute delight. I'm sold. If an Edition is available where I'm going, it's the only place you'll find me.

One of my favorite hotels in London is The Edition. I have stayed there a couple of times, and each visit has been satisfying. The beds are extremely comfortable (I even purchased their bedding after returning home), and the elegant design adds to the experience. The robes are incredibly cozy, and the Le Labo amenities are a nice touch. The hotel staff is friendly and welcoming. I once stayed in the Loft, which is amazingly well-designed. The hotel's location is also very convenient, easily accessible from the airport by tube, and there are lots of good food options around SoHo.
It could be a bit pricy depending on the time of the year.

My sister and I stayed at The London Edition for four nights in December, expecting the same excellent standards we experienced at The Edition hotels in Madrid and Barcelona during the summer. Unfortunately, our experience in London fell far below expectations.
We arrived at 1:00 PM and were told by the front desk that we would receive a call once our room was ready. Despite the advertised check-in time being 2:00 PM, we had not received any call by 3:30 PM. When we returned to the hotel to inquire, the front desk staff rudely suggested that perhaps my phone wasn’t working. I showed her my phone to confirm there were no missed calls, but instead of addressing the situation politely, she simply handed us the room key in a dismissive and unkind manner.
Upon entering the room, we found it to be very small, dark, and poorly maintained. The vanity drain was not functioning properly, adding to our disappointment.
The housekeeping service was also highly inadequate. On the second day, we left the room in the morning and returned at 4:00 PM, only to find the room had not been cleaned. We called housekeeping and informed them we would be stepping out in 5 minutes, requesting the room be cleaned during that time. However, when we returned at 7:00 PM, the room was still untouched.
This level of service is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel, especially one with such a high price point. Based on our prior positive experiences with The Edition brand, this stay was a significant letdown.

I'm writing this as (i) a Marriott Lifetime Platinum and (ii) formerly The London Edition frequenter.
The service in this hotel went quite down over the years, and my final stay in October ended up being "never again".
It included everything from (i) a very unhelpful front desk agent "helping" with check in who's not able to manage a simple room availability conversation, supported by a duty manager named Alex who preferred not to show up to potentially a tough conversation but rather "remotely managed" the conversation through texting the front desk manager as to what she should say because he "Was busy at 10:30pm" at night.
(ii) another front desk manager who was quite far from being helpful as she "educated me" by saying that I "HAD TO" fill in the "laundry form" even as she recognized that I was rushing to a meeting.
While the general manager Paul Walters was nice in his responses, unfortunately the damage was done.
If you want to get good service without having to reach out to the general manager, stay away from the London Edition

I chose the London Edition because of its location. We arrived at 11:00 pm for two nights, were greeted nicely by reception. Told where breakfast would be served in the morning. The room we booked was a deluxe king. We opened the door to a tiny room, looked at each other, and laughed. The room was dreary, with fake 1970s paneling. I've stayed in Fairfields that were way better. Too tired to care, we tried to sleep. But there is no carpeting on the floors, and the guest in the room above us spent the night scraping their desk chair across our ceiling. With almost no sleep, we went to breakfast. As Titanium members, and told by reception at checkin where our breakfast would be served, we were shocked to be charged £54 ($68) for 2 orange juices, a bowl of yogurt, and a bacon/egg sandwich. We couldn't get out fast enough.
But because we had booked two nights and chose to leave after one night because of so many issues, I was told I could only get the points I had used to pay for the room back if I paid the cost of the room - £600! I said by all means keep the points.
I emailed the hotel once I was back in the US, explained my concerns, and was essentially told reception should have explained that breakfast is not complimentary for Titanium members, but other than that, it was "I apologize that these differences and design didn't align with your expectations"
The good news is that we moved to the Marriott at Grosvenor Square, which was outstanding.
I never leave a negative review unless it's really bad. Unfortunately, this is one of those times.

This is not an easy review for me to write . In April of 2022 when Ian Schrager announced he was stepping away from the Edition , I literally started counting the days. As a Schrager loyalists , I had been here before. I know what happens when he walks from his hotels, just walk down the street from the Edition and go into the Sanderson hotel. On my recent trip I asked if I could get into a room early, as I had just flew in from the States and I wanted to take a shower before a meeting. They told me 3 hours later that they found me a room , but it was 3 categories higher than my reservation so there would be a 200 GBP increase /nite on the room. It was in their right to charge it and I paid it with no argument . However as a regular of this hotel, I can tell you 2 -3 years ago they would not have charged me. It may seem small , but this gets at the issue of why we are witnessing the end of a great hotel. I am not walking away from the Edition because the rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, or that the water goes suddenly from hot to cold when you take a shower or even that the clientele has loss a lot of it's luster, because to be honest all that is not new. The hotel for the last couple of years has been in a decline, it is an old hotel. The thing is I didn't care, it still had that feeling of home to me. It still had that it factor that made me ignore all the things that were declining. I don't blame the brass at the Marriott, it is not their world that Schrager built for them . So they don't know how to replicate it, yes, the properties will look the same but , they won't understand the how to add the secret sauce to keep it authentic. If you don't believe me, think about how you thought about W hotels 20 years ago, now think about how you think about them now. I hope I am wrong on this review and The London Edition turns it around, it will be hard as they have lost some valuable staff members there. But if the Marriott brass keeps trying to charge a premium for the past greatness of an hotel that is no longer delivering, I can't abide.

During my recent stay at The London EDITION, I encountered significant issues that are unacceptable for a five-star hotel charging £500+ per night.
With one lift permanently under maintenance (as per my past trips), the second also broke down, forcing guests to climb several flights of stairs. A 5 star hotel with NO lifts - a basic need. Imagine the hardship that was imposed on those with injuries, or who were plain tired.
Additionally, the staff member Iza showed unprofessionalism performing reception duties, failing to issue a continuous key card for my back-to-back bookings despite my many reminders.
When I returned to request a new key (mid-stay utilizing the stairs no less), Iza was dismissive and rude, offering no apology or acknowledgment of her mistake.
While the duty manager later took accountability and offered to make amends, this does not excuse the service lapses or the behavior of certain staff.
The water temperature in the shower also fluctuates, and goes from hot to scalding, or cold to hot.
For full transparency I rejected all offers for free breakfast nor did I request for any vouchers etc.
I cannot recommend this hotel at this price point and branding until these issues are addressed.

The staff at this hotel were some of the best I've encountered. Tyrone greeted us and brought us water and from that point on made an effort to assist us when he could. We also had the good fortune to be on Prezemek's floor. He was the floor supervisor and when I asked him how to work the lights in the room, he went out of his way to bring us an extra light so we could see better. Nicola in guest services was wonderful each and every time we called her to request something, and Bobbi brought our room service with a smile daily. She had such a positive attitude that it really improved our own attitude during our visit. I thought the food at the hotel was quite good -- both room service and at the lobby bar. Speaking of which, Julia at the lobby bar remembered our orders from the day before and was a joy to talk with. The whole staff seems to enjoy working there and that good vibe is passed along to their guests!

Edition has always been a play-consistent option in my mind. Consistent design, uniform fragrances and toiletries. This is usually accompanied by a convenient and central location, and the staff is friendly——although on this stay I wasted some time because the room wasn't available in time. It doesn't usually give me that fresh feeling of meeting someone for the first time. Whether I'm visiting Sanya, Shanghai or Singapore, they're like copy and paste offering pretty much the same experience. But it's this consistency that shows that no matter where you're traveling to, Edition will always be the one place you can't go wrong.
