Stayed here for 1 night(Saturday-Sunday). Lots of stalls and also right outside the property. Happening and crowded. The guy that checked us is was very friendly. Notting Hill Gate Underground is a about 10mins walk away.

Lovely people, great location, but shockingly small room. There was a closet, but no shelves or dresser to unpack your clothes ( I hate living out of a suitcase). The bathroom had the shower head above the sink, so the entire room gets wet when you shower. The bed was comfy. The hotel is just above their pub , which... More

We had a five night stay at the Portobello Gold in the four poster room. The room was fantastic with hidden storage which maintained the look of the room. Plenty of space, a sofa that complimented the room at the end of the bed. New TV and great en-suite facilities. This place is in a great location for the weekend... More

We ducked into Portobello Gold for lunch on a rainy Monday. A cozy pub with very good food. I had salt beef on a bagel and my wife had the wild mushroom alfredo with arugula. Both were excellent. As my wife noted in our travel journal, "so good!"

Really charming restaurant tucked away from the bustle of Portobello Road. Skylight overhead and lots of flowers so you feel like you are dining in a garden. Good food. Our waitress seemed a bit rushed and told us their WiFi didn't work. When I asked another waitress for the password she gave it to me and we got right in... More

Location is good for us, a good walk to the Nottinghill station. Every morning when we go out, tourists are coming in because Portobello is a tourist spot especially crazy every Saturday. This guest house is plain and simple accommodation for people not so choosy. It was comfortable sleep for us, clean beddings and hearty breakfast. Cheers to Michael and... More

If by shabby chic people mean no curtains on the windows, electrics which are burnt out and thick with dirt and coming home covered in flea bites; then shabby chic definitely isn't for me. Dreadful doesn't come close to describe this dive.

Went in to this restaurant this afternoon and walked out soon afterwards. We were shown various tables and then made to feel we were at fault for not picking up the menus left on first table. Sounds a small thing but our group felt we were being chastised, who wants this when hoping for a pleasant meal out with friends.... More

Portobello Gold was our final destination since My dogs and I started a walk along the Grand Union Canal the previous Saturday in Birmingham. A much needed rest had been earned and the very helpful and friendly staff at Portobello Gold provided us with everything we needed to do just so. The rooms very clean, light and of a good... More

This is definitely a 'shabby chic' B&B, and if you go in knowing that, you'll be fine. The furnishings were antique and the bed a little lumpy, but the bed linens were immaculate and the bathroom, though small, was very clean and well-maintained. The folks who run the place are very nice and helpful. We stayed here for the Portobello... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighbourhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
