My husband and I recently visited London as we were attending a concert at the 02,we booked travelodge central for the 1st night and a hotel in canary wharf for the 2nd.The travelodge is ideally situated just a couple of minutes walk from kings Cross Station, we were not expecting very much for the price we paid, how pleasantly surprised we were, it is nipping clean, the room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and the staff very friendly, they even opened the bar for us to have a drink! Had we known how nice this hotel was we would have stayed both nights and travelled by underground to the 02 arena (which took about 20 mins) instead of paying double the price for a hotel in canary wharf which was dated and not a patch on the travelodge at kings Cross, would not hesitate to stay here again. Date of stay Sunday January 21st.

The hotel is very conveniently situated for travel to all parts of London, clean and has a great cafe serving a good breakfast at very low cost. Some rooms are located next to the railway lines and are noisy while trains are running and with noise from road and pubs. Other rooms are quiet. Staff are generally helpful and welcoming.

The location of the hotel is fab but that is where the positives end. To start off with the hotel has no air conditioning (apart from a hired machine in reception) and we just happened to be staying on the hottest day of the year so far. They do provide you with a fan but it is far too small and very noisy and all it really does is circulate the hot air. The room we were in overlooked the tube line from King’s Cross/ St Pancras behind the hotel. The trains run every 3 minutes at least so there was constant noise from around 5am till 1am the following morning. There is also a bar behind so light and music from that enters your room until the early hours as well. The noise was still very loud even with the windows shut and glass slider across and having the windows shut meant we literally boiled alive. We didn’t see many staff around but when we did they were constantly talking on the phone and ignoring the guests there was no customer service at all which you would expect given how much it costs to stay here. On the final day we booked a late checkout so we could do some more sightseeing before our train home, upon arriving back to our room we had to get reception to reactivate our key card as it wouldn’t let us in (which they did, whilst talking on the phone), we then entered our floor to find cleaning trolleys and laundry bins blocking the corridor. As we were travelling with a relative in a wheelchair it was impossible to get past without walking him all the way down the corridor. There were no staff around so presumably at this point the cleaners were all inside their rooms but no thought was given to guests who might be staying there. After collecting our luggage the corridor was still blocked but luckily this time a cleaner appeared and moved it into a room out of the way. We booked this hotel because of the location and price. However I would recommend anybody looking for somewhere to stay to spend the extra £100 or so and stay somewhere else because it really is not worth the price you pay!

As a location this hotel cannot be beaten - it is almost a literal hop skip and jump away from Kings Cross. However, that really is where the positives end. Staff are unhelpful and unbothered about things, the hotel while marketed as 'recently refurbished' is in poor state of repair. Soap dispensers hanging off the wall, plaster and mess on the floors throughout the hotel (including rooms which means it was clearly not cleaned before we arrived).

The person in the room next to us was loud and aggressive and often spent HOURS shouting and yelling on a night. Staff were very blase about this and it felt like you were troubling them by asking for help.

The hotel is also VERY VERY noisy - at one side overlooking the tracks into Kings X and the other a very busy main road and not all rooms have double glazing which doesn't help.

We left the 'please change towels' out on a few occasions and it was never done - even asking staff at reception for help was a chore.

The culture and management of this pool seems really poor which is such a shame as usually Travelodge's are great!

This was the worst Hotel we have ever stayed in. It has an old, tired feel to it, from the reception area, to the corridors and to our room. Our room was very small, didn`t smell fresh and the view from the window was a flat roof area with bags of rubbish lying on it. The bathroom is very small with the toilet right up against the wall and the door, the shower is old and you don`t even get a bath mat for putting on the floor so you don`t slip when you come out of the shower. You don`t get your room serviced, you have to put a note on your door asking for the towels to be replaced and bins emptied. We didn`t use the cafe area so we have no idea what it was like. We certainly will never be back to a Travelodge again. Yes it is handy for Kings Cross station and Underground but I would rather travel a little further and have a nice room. We left early in the morning and came back late at night so that we were spending as little time as possible in the room.

The staff at this Travelodge go over and above. The check on clerk (didn't catch her name) got us early check in, even though we hadn't organized it in advance and placed us on the quiet rooms so traffic noise wouldn't disturb us. Although the Cafe closed at 10 a.m., Almaz, who seemed to be in charge, insisted the two coffees I wanted were on the house. The hotel is not fancy but it is clean, in a beautiful building, and is close to King's Cross station. We would return.

We had a really nice stay for a couple of days in May. The location is amazing as the hotel is very well connected by train or underground to any other place in London, but at the same time the room was very quiet, well isolated from the noise outside. The staff was also very polite and helpful, they helped us with any problem or requirement we had (iron, iron table, hairdryer, etc). I recommend it!

Didn't provide what was expected or promised. We requested a king bed or twin beds, given a queen. But moved to a room with twin beds. However the room was set up for someone in a wheelchair, with a very very low sink, an emergency pull cord (that we thought was a close line) in the bathtub, and grab bars EVERYWHERE. Also emergency help buttons at the head of the bed that we accidentally bumped, causing staff to come banging on our door, twice, while we were trying to settle into bed. We received two bath towels and a bathmat/hand towel. No wash cloth. No facial tissue. There was a soap dispenser that leaked, on the side of the sink, nearly on the floor.
The breakfast was very minimal; yogurt, cereal, pre-made pan cakes, tea, and coffee if the machine wasn't broken down, which happened on two mornings. The bar was not manned, and one had to press a button and wait 10-15 minutes for some to come from the front desk, some of whom had little knowledge about wine, alcohol, or how to make an adult beverage.
We were surprised that there was no phone in the room as it was apparently intended for someone who might need emergency services.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and continually apologizing for the lack of services.
