I've just returned from a two night stay at the Comfort Inn Buckingham Palace Road, but my experience of the staff started several months ago. When I emailed with some queries they were very prompt and helpful with their response so I was already feeling...More
I had read not so good reviews about this hotel, so I booked it only because it had vacancies. In the end it has been more than OK, which is why I would like to share my good experience.

We had a family room overlooking the traintracks. The room was clean and looked much better than the hotel's exterior. However, on the day we went the room was really really hot. So we had to leave the windows open as no A/C. The trains...More
The hotel is within walking distance of Victoria Station (great for getting to and from any airport), Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and Buckingham Palace. If train noise is a problem for you, I would not advise staying here as trains can occasionally be heard. The rooms...More

Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighbourhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and
some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.

St. George's Tavern has good food. I took my 15 year old granddaughter there three times during our week staying at the Comfort Inn. Just go around the corner to the left and walk up High Street to the corner. Go downstairs to eat. The bar is crowded and noisy on the main floor. There are several convenience stores on Buckingham Palace Road on the way to Victoria Station.

I stayed in a room across the street from the lobby - part of the hotel. Didn't experience any train noise. St. George's Tavern has good food. Very near the hotel around the corner and up the street. Go downstairs to eat - it's noisy and crowded on the ground floor at the bar. My granddaughter and I had dinner there three times in our five days in London. It's that good.

Have had no experience of requesting a room on a higher floor, so can't say on that point. We had a basement room in the main building which was fine, but absolutely no view. Used the hotel as an excellent base during our stay, it was really conveniently situated for us. Il Posto, Italian restaurant, about 10 mins walk away was fantastic.
