We booked this hotel many months before our visit but as time approached we started looking at reviews and were concerned at some of the negative feedback..

On visiting the hotel we were pleasantly surprised, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and whilst the rooms are small they provided everything we needed.
Thisbis a budget hotel but it was good value for a London hotel. The location was great, next to Hyde Park and 3 minutes walk from two underground stations and Paddington railway station.

Sure there were a few points that could have been improved but nothing major and mainly decorative.

The only negative point was the hotel take a £100 deposit per room on arrival, to be refunded after departure.

Apart from this we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Just checked out fm the Hotel where I stayed fr 3 Nights with a friend. Their Price is good and room OK compared to price, nice big bathroom but water system design bad, water leaks on the floor but shower is great. Breakfast is so so but ok fr price. Few things show cheap approach, they provide plastic glass only, shampoo in pouch like cheap south asian lodges. Male staffs are very nicer but Romanian receptionist is too rude n unfriendly. Best thieg is location, 2 minutes fm Paddington Tubd Stn and another 2 fr main. Kensington garden is just 5 minutes walk fr a lovely morning break.

Returned last night from a 3 day London trip with my 10 year old son. We stayed at the Lancaster Court Hotel and honestly had a really lovely stay. All of the staff were lovely and really helpful, the place was clean and our room was perfect for us (with the added surprise of a large balcony with lovely view)!
Luckily for us we were on the first floor (this appears to be the only rooms with balconies) as there were stairs to the rooms and we were unable to see a lift (although I didn’t ask if there was one, but did hear other people moaning about dragging cases up the stairs).
We didn’t book breakfast but were presented each day with a brown bag that contained a muffin, banana, apple and bottle of water each which was again a lovely surprise.
We stopped in the hotel on a ridiculously hot weekend (temps reaching 34°c) and were really happy to find a fan in the room. This made such a difference and made the nights a lot more bearable.
We found the rooms clean and the bed was freshly made each day. Bins were also emptied daily and towels were replaced. The coffee/tea facilities were topped up daily and were all sparkling clean. I asked for an iron throughout the stay and was presented straight away with an iron and an ironing board. Nothing was too much trouble.
One negative was a broken chair in our room (leg was broken) but my son was still able to sit on it (I didn’t risk it) so it worked out ok in the end.
I will be returning back to London with my other son in the not to distant future and will not hesitate in rebooking the Lancaster Court Hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed here for an orchestra concert at nearby St. James church. It was good for what we needed it for. Staff were polite and friendly. The room was clean and cosy.

Like most hotels in this area, for the upper floors you have to be prepared for 3-4 flights of stairs. If this is an issue, then best to choose some place with a lift.

Note that in spite of the photos of the breakfast room, the hotel has suspended breakfast. I am not sure if it is ever coming back. But there are many good breakfast options nearby. Lots of good and eating options, in fact.

There is a place on Praed St. called la Tazza, serving English breakfast for the low price of £3.95.

For coffee try the new Harrisons cafe, a nice place literally just around the corner.

Go a few streets further away to Craven Terrace and try the excellent les Filles cafe.

If you want fast food you can also find a;; the usual options on Praed St., but there are so many other places right nearby, that there is no reason to stick with KFC and McDonalds.

Not sure, but I think many of the previous poor reviews of this hotel come from a period before the renovation work was completed.

Btw. another nearby attraction: if you happen to be here on a Sunday and want to experience a traditional 'Evensong' at an Anglican church, try St. James, which is right out the door to your right.

We only stayed for two days but the place itself was clean, the room was small but also spotless. The staff were friendly, the continental breakfast was pretty poor, with just three slices of toast to share between the two of us and only cheese slices or jam to put on them, along with yoghurts and tangerines or apples. Overall I suppose you get what you pay for in London and at £120 for the 2 of us for two nights was great value for what you get. It's just a short walk to Paddington Station and easy to get to all parts of London from.

The rooms are small clean and tidy but if you get upper floor there is no lift to go up you have to use stairs and take your luggage by yourself. In the breakfast there is no omelet. Hotel is near to Hyde park and Paddington station. I like this area it comes in Zone 1 central London.

This hotel is a bit tired and dated , and yes the rooms ( or ours at least) are tiny. It needs some work and updating. The shower was a drip and bathroom very small. No plug socket where the kettle is? There is no excuse for this as if we had brought children we’d have had a boiling kettle on the floor. Put some extra sockets in!
We didn’t mind the stairs but again, a bit of decorating wouldn’t go amiss.
Positives- Clean room, very comfortable bed and lovely staff.
Big positive- The location!! You’re in the best location for So many things! We were at Hyde park in 5 minutes. The Paddington line is a 5 minute walk and will get you to central London in 20 minutes. We walked up to Notting hill gate , found some amazing pubs and a great band.
The owners need to invest some money in this place but we would go back, albeit for a better room.
There are also websites stating it does Breakfast, it even shows a breakfast room?
There is no breakfast! Again, if you are the owner or manager. Take these down.

Had a rather disappointing stay at this rather lacklustre hotel. Have stayed before in a number of neighbouring hotels in Sussex Gardens all of which were perfectly adequate. Booked and paid in advice but upon check in was asked for a passport. When I pointed out I was British and didn’t need a passport for a short trip in my own country I was then asked for a driving licence which again I didn’t have as I had travelled by train. The tone from the North American on the desk was rather rude. He then asked for a £100 refundable deposit as a damage waiver. I had no option but to pay this. Upon seeing the bedroom in the basement it was difficult to see how you could do £100 worth of damage. The room was tiny, airless, grubby, had a tiny flat screen tv on a pivot leaning into the shower (that has to be a health & safety risk). Bella Vista this was not! The view was of a small square yard with an open door to a cupboard storing wrecked furniture. Would recommend extreme caution on stays at this property. On the plus side the immediate area is really good with loads of restaurants and bars close to Paddington, really good transport links and close proximity to Hyde Park.

I was a little disappointed in this hotel. It is tired and the common areas are really dirty. My room had been refurbished and new bathroom fittings but things didn’t work properly. The shower head is new but does not sit on the pole correctly so you have to hand hold it to wash hair with one hand. The shower recess fills with water to the point of overflow into the bathroom. The hall and staircase is narrow and very dirty, stained carpet and walls. There was rubbish and dirty dishes in the stairway for the entire time of my stay. It’s like staff just walked past it and left it for someone else, who? I have no idea. It would be helpful to know ahead that there is no elevator and it’s a steep climb to the top floor with no assistance offered with baggage from staff. I know this is a budget accommodation option but it still wasn’t worth the money paid. My room was clean I will say that however the Mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable and the pillows were very flat and thin. I had a hole in my quilt cover. Not good enough.

I feel disappointed when getting back the 100 pounds deposit, they charge me 2 pounds for service fees, that means I can get 98 pounds only back which is very unfair. They didn't explain to me during checking in. They have replied to refund to me but finally didn't do that. And the bathroom provide cold water only, so I haven't taken shower for 10 days which is very terrible. And there is no individual water closet in the room which is inconvenient. I have to wait for a long time to use it every time. Also no breakfast is provided which is inconvenient as well. Therefore, I will not choose this hotel next time.
