I posted a very disappointing experience I had with the hotel due to an unexpected trip interruption - my father had taken very ill and I had to go back to Canada after the first night of what was supposed to be a 4 night stay. I had booked through Expedia and the hotel did not extend credit for a future visit. I then neglected to focus on any other aspect of this hotel, which is hugely unfair to them. I stayed in a single room with an ensuite bathroom on the top floor of what to me is a beautiful, spotlessly clean botuique hotel with an antique look to their furnishings, carpetings, etc. My room was very tiny BUT spotlessly clean. The ensuite bathroom was a good size with a large bathtub/shower combo and plenty of hot water in the sink at least. (I had no time to shower) The staff were all very lovely and accommodating, the bar was nice (25% off for guests) and the service very good. The room itself, although small, had everything one needs. A refrigerator, kettle with coffee/tea, hair dryer. iron and ironing board, TV. No laundry facilites but I believe there might be one within walking distance. I found the hotel quiet and in a great location. Gloucester Road tube station and a Waitrose are diagonally across the street where you can pick up snack items, wine, etc. for the room. I didn't have time to try the included breakfast but the lovely gentleman on the desk when I left asked if he could get me a coffee. (It was 6am) and he also followed up on arrangements for a taxi.

After an overnight flight, I was exhausted and eager to check into my room early. The staff at the hotel got a room cleaned as quickly as possible for me and I really appreciated the effort they put in there to make me comfortable as soon as they could. When I got to my room I was pleasantly surprised to see I was upgraded to a room with a bathroom en-suite - I had originally booked a shared bathroom room which I was nervous about but it didn’t end up mattering. The room was VERY small (the door hit the bed when you came in) but was functional and perfect for just needing a place to crash after exploring London. Did not try the breakfast or the Indian restaurant but both looked good. The only complaint I had (which was no fault of the hotel) was the Gloucester Road tube stop (literally right across the street!) was closed most of the weekend I was there. It was a little inconvenient to have to walk to and from the South Kensington Station instead, especially since I specifically booked the hotel knowing I’d be traveling alone and coming back late at night on the Tube. Still, overall a good experience worth the price and I’d stay here again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback on TripAdvisor. We are absolutely delighted to receive your appreciation towards our staff who strives daily to provide all our guests with an excellent customer service. Your comments will be surely shared with the team. We apologize whether during the time spent in London the closest tube stop was temporarily out of service, it’ s been an unfortunate coincidence. Sometimes, during the weekend, the TfL plans engineering work which may affect people’ s journey. We are pleased to hear that you will revisit, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Montana Hotel soon. Yours Sincerely, Maria Carlucci Operations Manager Asst.

I spend at least 1 night a week in London hotels and I have to say I really do like this one! It’s a quirky higgledy piggledy place with loads of character and a good range of room options at very affordable prices. Can’t say I’ll ever bring myself to share a bathroom but the option is there for more cost conscious travellers. The location is great being just over the road from Gloucester Rd tube station and loads of cafes, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are very clean and compact in my experience but have all the facilities you’d expect/need. The map attached to the keycard is a nice touch.

I’ll be back next week!

This hotel is in a great location and the rooms are fine, although the shower room was tiny! However there seemed a continual miscommunication between the reception and restaurant so that dinner and breakfast bookings were not shared. After our curtain rail collapsed we were phoned when out sight seeing and offered another room, but management were insisting on moving all our possessions to the new room. I had to firmly explain that I was not comfortable with that and would do it myself on returning later. It was only on the fourth statement to this effect that management accepted my position. The pricing of breakfasts on the menu was highly misleading regarding the costs. Finally the evening meal was spoiled by a waiter insisting that we should like most people avail of the more expensive tasting menu, the fact that the food was to be honest bland and without merit ( and this was an Indian restaurant), that when i asked re what I thought an inflated bill which I couldn't read due to the hand writing the waiter again dismissed this but asked me three times to write on the bill how much of a tip I intended to give. This did rather spoil my stay. Some staff in reception were I thought excellent at their jobs, but I certainly could not recommend the restaurant for meals and overall would never see myself staying there again.

Dear Guest, First and foremost, we would like to sincerely apologize for the negative experience you faced during your stay with us. Regarding your comments, we apologize for how the room changing procedure has been handled. We are sorry whether you felt under pressure, this was none of our intent. Our staff did their best to guarantee and provide you with another room although you were not in the hotel at the time and, as per hotel policy, room changes are not allowed after 2 pm. Please rest assured that we shall implement corrective training to avoid a similar situation to happen in the future. Moreover, we would like to know in which way you felt that our breakfast menu was misleading. As far as we are concerned, all the options are clearly described in the menu with relative prices. Your feedback is the most valuable help for us to address any issues and put them right. Please feel free to email us with more details. We are also disappointed to hear that our Indian cuisine did not meet your expectations and the service received was not of our standards. We shall address your concerns to the management to ensure that the high standards of our service in the restaurant as well as in our hotel, are always met by our team. Here at the Montana Hotel, we take great pride in the high level of customer satisfaction we provide, and we are terribly sorry for how we failed to provide you with a memorable and satisfactory experience. We take this opportunity to extend once again our most sincere apologies with the hope of having the chance to welcome you back to the Montana Hotel and restore your faith into our business. Kindest Regards, Maria Carlucci Operations Manager Asst.

The staff at this hotel were all excellent, very thoughtful and helpful. The room we had was getting a bit tired and the pilliows were like concrete but it was spotlessly clean everywhere and the facilities were fine with extra bedding, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, tea making etc. We enjoyed a drink in the bar which was very reasonably priced and cheaper than a pub. We enjoyed both the continental and traditional fry up breakfasts in the restaurant but didn't eat there in the evening as it was full. It did look very good if you enjoy Indian food.

We loved this place from the staff to the facilities were amazing.

This is my first choice when visiting again!

Staff were extremely helpful and polite at all times.

We dined in light of india restaurant and the quality was unparalleled.

Room was lovely tidy clean and beds were so comfy. Bathroom was great. It had a toilet, bath.....yes bathed shower sink and there was little dispensers of shampoo and conditioner, hand soap, and hand and body lotion.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Thanks again guys!

We were booked in for just one night and on previous visits to London had stayed further along Cromwell Road. Due to refurbishment our first choice was not available. However the Montana will now be our first choice. We were greeted courteously and immediately made to feel welcome. Due to Storm Dudley we were unable to travel home but the manager assured us he would do his best to provide us with a room for the extra night. This was done efficiently and added to the cleanliness and good breakfast we left feeling very content. Well everyone.

This was our third stay at this hotel. For the price, we think as a previous reviewer stated, this hotel is "a lucky find". We travel a bit and have stayed in a few hotels over the years. The Montana is a three star hotel and deserves all its stars.

The rooms are a little small, but we found these clean and serviced daily. We liked having a small fridge in the room. Not all the rooms have an Air Conditioning unit (but some do) we don't use AC anyway and found the temperature comfortable (we last visited on a sunny weekend in September 2021). The lift is small but ok for two people and luggage.

We saw that one recent reviewer complained about "staff rudeness" but in all our three visits, (which are usually for three nights each) we have always found the hotel staff friendly and helpful.

The continental breakfast was sufficient for our needs; fruit juice, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh bread, cheese, ham, salami, boiled eggs, croissants, Danish pastry and excellent coffee (as much as you can drink!). the waiter service and white tablecloths added to a relaxed breakfast. If you wish you can order hot food.

We also booked a meal with the Hotels Indian Restaurant, this was our second time at the restaurant. We love Indian cuisine and were not disappointed. The waiter service was very good and helped us choose the food we wanted. The price was very reasonable too. (we were celebrating having a trip out for the first time in a while and so tried the cocktails as something special, and they are too!, along with Indian Beer)

The location is excellent for us, close to the museums, Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park. The Underground station is on the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines so the centre of London is within easy reach . We also enjoy walking around this part of London.

Stayed at the Montana for 2 nights for our mini break in London. The hotel is conveniently situated 2 minutes walk from Gloucester Road Tube Station and also bars & restaurants.
We checked in early and our room was ready for us. We booked a double room and we were allocated a large room with a double and 2 single beds. Tea & coffee making facilities, biscuits would have been a nice extra touch, toiletries also provided. Room & bathroom were spotless with lovely crisp white linen & white fluffy towels. The room was cleaned & fresh towels provided on our 2nd day, the only let down was the bathroom, quite old & could do with a refurb, however this did not spoil our stay.
We didn't dine in the restaurant because we had made other plans.
The staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful, they explained that the bathrooms were due to be upgraded. Look forward to this as we will definitely stay at The Montana on our next trip to London.

If your looking at these reviews and wondering about this hotel wonder no more. Myself and my daughter stayed here for 3 nights last week and it was fabulous. The location is great with Gloucester Road tube station just a 2 min walk away which made getting about so easy for us . The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bar area superb and we had no complaints in the restaurant or with our breakfasts and the choice for breakfast is great. What really made our stay though were the staff. I have never stayed anywhere that the customer service was of such a night level with one man in particular standing out the lovely Campus ! He went over and above his job duties to ensure my both myself and my daughter had the perfect stay as he was aware it was her Christmas present and we were in London to see Harry Potter. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again .

There is a nightstand between the two twin beds. Not sure if it was affixed to the wall or not.

Each room has a combo desk/dresser, but one end of it houses the fridge, so 3 medium drawers. There is a large storage unit in each room where you can hang up clothes, with several shelves in it, although safe takes up one shelf. It was always plenty of storage for a one week trip. I can’t recall about clothes hangers so might bring a couple if you have room in your bag.
