Just paid a brief visit to join members of my bible study group who camp there for a weekend in September most years recently. Impressed by the lovely trees, nature generally, great layout and decent loos.

At last a campsite with excellent facilities, no embarrassing dirty toilet block or 3rd rate shower facilities. Showers great cleaned regularly along with everything on site. A great deal of thought has gone into the planning here with many additions. Children's play area away from most pitches. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly a great place to stay. The only one...

What a little gem just outside the city of London. Couldn't fault it. Welcoming, perfectly clean. Shower had shelves, hooks and impressively 'stay on showers'. Extremely quite apart. Only let down - not much in Abbey Wood but 10 minute walk to main line train station.

We stayed here for 3 nights to visit London. It´s a great solution for that, the train station is close by and the site is just amazing. Generous spaces, lot of grass, trees, nice toilets. I´ll be back!!! ;)

Just back from a 6 night stay (over Bank Holiday weekend),at Abbey wood Caravan park. We stayed here a few years ago when going to the O2 for a concert, and thought then that it would be a good site for sightseeing. The site is always well maintained and clean, the wardens/staff very helpful, pitches are quite large and hard...

We stayed here for 8 nights in two tents. Shower blocks, washing and laundry facilities were immaculate and always had plenty of hot water. Site is very well maintained and shockingly peaceful for somewhere so near to the centre of London. The staff are very helpful and polite, there when you need them and in the background if you don't....

A lovely site, quiet, well laid out, tree-lined and tranquil and yet only 30 minutes to central London. The staff we encountered were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. There are rules, as with all CC sites, and some foreign visitors, of which there were many many, might struggle to understand or follow them but it's well managed by the staff....

The site is an oasis of woodland in an otherwise urban location. It's so peaceful (we visited on August Bank holiday weekend) that it is a genuine pleasure to return to after sightseeing in London. Access to London is easy via a short 5 minute walk to Abbey Wood station which sees you into Waterloo, London Bridge, or Charing Cross...

A truly stunning campsite given its location in the middle of The Royal Borough of Greenwich. The site must have been a garden or park for centuries before as there are some ancient trees on this gently sloping site. Upon arrival with our campervan we were given a map and told to look around for a nice pitch among the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Abbey Wood Caravan Club Site is a Caravan Club Golden Jubilee Site and feels positively rural when you reach this gently sloping verdant site. Its mature tree screening and spacious grounds making it a secure site. Good railway connections are within walking distance of the caravan site and will get you into Central London in just 35 minutes. Alternatively, nearby Greenwich offers its own blend of fascinating attractions, including the famous observatory. River cruises operate from nearby Abbey Wood Caravan Club Site between Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Westminster, Kew, Richmond and Hampton Court. Open all year, this is a busy caravan site and is very popular with European visitors during the summer months. There are good reasons to visit Abbey Wood throughout the year though. The Christmas Lights, shopping at the January Sales, the London Marathon, Excel Centre and the Chelsea Flower show can all be enjoyed from this scenic, yet well placed, site. ... more   less

“Booking in advance is a good chance to get a plot, but when in a big party, wanting to stay together and wanting good reception for satellite, you should state this to the person on the phone when booking, so that there is no complications.”

“If you have a pitch choice and like the sun try for a pitch lower down on the site, we were up nearer the woods which was shaded but it didn't bother us.”
