The Leonardo Royal Hotel London City receives accolades for its warm atmosphere, exceptional service, and immaculate cleanliness, with guests particularly appreciating the well-maintained rooms and communal areas. While some guests find the value satisfactory, others caution against unexpected charges. The hotel's prime location near attractions and transport is a highlight, though some note room for improvement in facilities. Comfortable and spacious rooms are a plus, but noise from heating systems and elevators can be a downside for light sleepers. Amenities such as the spa, pool, and gym are frequently commended.

The hotel lobby and public areas were well appointed and beautiful. Staff was warm, friendly and helpful. Our King Superior room had a horribly hard bed that felt like we were sleeping on a very old mattress. All of the pillows were flat and hard making it difficult to get a good restful sleep. The duvet cover was barely wide enough to fit the bed without two people under it. Once we got under it, we struggled to stay covered. The bathroom was well appointed with soaps, lotions, all the extras you might need. The outstanding part of this property was they did have anything that you might have forgotten or that didn't work with your power converters. The had tooth brushes, toothpaste, hairspray, curing irons, razors, shave cream, the list was almost endless. The shower was stupendous and the tub was a deep soaker tub so after a long day of exploring London, the tub could be very useful to a tired body. We enjoyed the powerful shower head to relax our tired bodies. The location was just steps away from an Underground station that was convenient to lots of sights. There were lots of things within walking distance of the hotel and then when you wanted to explore outside of that walking distance the Underground station just steps way makes this property a perfect location. For first time visitors to London, we're so VERY GLAD we chose this property as our home base for our vacation!

We stayed here for one night. The check in process was ok, we had to wait a little while for the room to be ready, we had the early check in. The room wasn't the best but they managed to move us to a slightly better room.

The room was ok, quite big with two double beds in, a small table, 2 chairs and a small desk area. There was a good size wardrobe, a cupboard with the small fridge (which was the minibar which charges if you pick up any item in it) and above that the kettle with tea, coffee sachets, small milk sachets, etc. The bathroom was ok, walk in shower which didn't have a door so the water could get all over the floor, there were a couple of shower caps, tooth brush set, shaving set etc. The hand wash, hand lotion, shower gel and shampoo were good and smelt nice. The beds were ok, quite comfy and a few different pillows. The view from the room was ok but wasn't the best, we could see the shard if looked out at an angle and could see the old wall, ad a bit of the tower bridge.

There is a small gym, good size swimming pool, sauna, hot room, jacuzzi and a spa. The changing rooms were ok, you can get towels from the member of staff on the desk on the entrance to this area when you sign in to use these facilities. There is a restaurant just up from the main reception area which is only open at certain times (it is roped off most of the day). There is a cafe/bar area just behind the reception which you can get some food, cakes and drinks, which the drinks are ok.

We had breakfast which was a buffet breakfast. There was a wide choice of items to have and what we had tasted good and seemed good quality. The place seemed clean and the staff friendly.

Overall the location is good, only a short walk to a tube station, the 'tower of London' and 'tower bridge', the place seemed clean in the general areas. The facilities were good. The room was ok, beds ok, some maintenance work in rooms could be done (some lights not working, damage/worn bits especially in the bathroom etc), room cleanliness could be better (hairs on mugs in the cupboard etc. Breakfast is good. This is a nice place to stay.

We took a group of Cub Scouts (children age 8–11) to London for the weekend and stayed at this hotel.
The staff were absolutely exceptional. Even before we arrived the duty manager Robert helped organise the most appropriate rooms to meet our safeguarding requirements.
Throughout the stay every member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and spoke directly to the children, engaging with them and totally made them feel like VIP guest.

For breakfast the restaurant seated us in one large group which made it much easier to manage behaviour and monitor what the children were eating. It also allowed them the independence to choose what they ate from the buffet.

We arranged to use the swimming pool at a specific time which again, was fantastic as meant the children could experience the luxury of bath robes and slippers before having fun together, chilling out in the water after a day of excitement in London.

Overall, we cannot thank the management team and staff enough at this hotel for an amazing, clean, perfectly organised weekend which not only impressed us as adults but will leave a lasting positive memory on the children we took. thank you so much.

Came to the hotel after a week away in a remote lodge. Booked this hotel upon viewing rooms/views on their website via booking.com found a room with stunning views for £340 / 2 night stay.

We were absolutely disgusted with the first room allocated to us! (Room number 237) The room had leaking AC, broken iron which spewed hot/calcified water all over the dress my girlfriend was going to wear, the room had a very pungent smell and worst of all we were right next to a busy/noisy train station with clear view into our room giving us little to no natural light on the 2nd floor of the hotel.

After complaining we were shifted into the ACTUAL room we had booked in the first place with great views of London Bridge etc.. we were promised breakfast vouchers for the next morning but never received them.. I’d like to thank Savita, the manager who swapped our rooms however this review is of the entire experience we had here.

One of the managers told me there were no toilets on ground floor which was a clear lie. On Sunday 22/08/21 people from a running event were let in to use the ground floor toilets without even having a room on the property! I think this manager (European lady) should be re-trained as I believe using the toilet is a basic human right. Especially if you’re paying £340 for 2 nights and don’t wish to go up 11 floors to use the toilet in your room as you’re already downstairs and ready to go out.

We also asked her for a fan as the AC on floor 11 was not as good. We had to ask another 2 times for a fan to be sent up as the manager had not communicated with her staff.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Nothing royal about it. Not worth the money. Not worth the stress. There are much better value hotels with higher ratings meters away from this place.

Go elsewhere! ! ! !

The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the Tower Hill area. The underground is a 2 min walk from leaving the tube station.

The entrance and reception is welcoming and smart.

The first room we were given was on level 2 facing the back of buildings and looking directly at air con units. The worst part of the view was the pile of rubbish as the direct view from the window, which we felt was unreasonable. This should be cleaned up and not left for guests to look at, even if the room has a terrible view, it should be acceptable to leave rubbish to look at aswell.

The room was spacious but dark due to being at level 2 and having high buildings outside blocking light.

The room had two double beds closely positioned together with side tables to the left and right, and not one in the middle if you were sharing with a child. The beds were very uncomfortable and woke me up every time my partner moved. The pillows were like rocks. The sheets were stained.

The bathroom was tired, no plug, tap was very hard to turn on, the sink didn’t drain normally and there was nowhere to place your toiletries. The wall had damage from a previously hung toilet roll holder that was now on a stand blocking the sink, or entrance to the bath.

The soap dispenser in both the bath and shower were broken, and verging empty when we checked in. The toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet and was very cheap and nasty.

The hairdryer didn’t work.

There was coffee/tea facilities which was great and complimentary cookies which was nice.

We complained after the first night and the hotel agreed to place us in another room later that day after alternate rooms became available. They asked us to pack our bags and they would have them in the new room when we got back.

They did as agreed and gave us a room on the 10th floor with a great view and no rubbish. This room was the same decor, slightly smaller, but the bathroom was slightly bigger with room for toiletries. Still tired, but everything worked. The complimentary toiletries were White Company, so better than the previous room. In addition to moving us they offered us breakfast as an apology.

All in all it’s a nice hotel in a great location, but they should do some basic maintenance to make the hotel a little smarter.

The swimming pool area is ok, a little dark and the pool is divided into lanes, which doesn’t look great.

Breakfast was amazing with kind and helpful staff. Only recommendation is more gluten free pastry options. Thank you to Oscar for being super friendly and helpful

Leonardo Royal Hotel London City is conveniently located and is only a few minutes away from the Tower Hill underground station. We stayed there for 6 days.

On our first day, we were assigned room 717 but the aircondition was not working and there were already 2 electric fans provided so the hotel knew beforehand that it would be very warm in that room (it was the heatwave week in London during our stay where temperatures soared up to more than 30°C). We immediately contacted the reception and they offered several options (suggested an extra electric fan and a mobile AC which meant sleeping with the windows open and welcoming the mosquitoes in) We politely declined it as it was not workable at all. We requested to be transferred to another room and although it was already late in the evening, the housekeeping managed to get room 1111 on the 11th floor in order. Kudos to this excellent service!

Now, to the breakfast area.
The breakfast buffet offers an incredible selection of dishes that caters to diverse tastes and preferences.
Very special mention to the very friendly, most attentive and courteous and most accodomating Arnel who is always ready to greet the hotel guests with a smile.

All by all, we had a great stay at Leonardo Royal Hotel London City.

My recent stay at Leonardo Royal Hotel London City was marred by several issues, starting with the breakfast arrangement. Unbeknownst to us, not pre-booking breakfast incurs higher costs, a detail conveniently omitted at check-in, seemingly to capitalize on uninformed guests.

The room's air conditioning was stuck at a sweltering 25°C, and despite our complaints, the promised maintenance assistance never materialized. Our concerns were brushed off, leaving us in discomfort throughout our stay.

Moreover, the "superior double room" featured a surprisingly small bed, hardly matching expectations for its category. While the hotel's location is indeed favorable, it hardly compensates for the lackluster service and inadequate facilities.

This experience was far below the standard expected, marred by apparent negligence and a lack of communication. Future guests should be aware of these potential issues, as the only notable positive aspect is the hotel's convenient location. Disappointingly, it seems that Leonardo Royal Hotel London City prioritizes profit over guest satisfaction and comfort.

I have travelled a lot, I have been to many hotels and yet I had never come across a Leonardo. Here from now on I will not let them escape! 28 December-2 January Luxury hotel at no exaggeration price, with spa, swimming pool, concierge, super breakfast, beautiful and spacious rooms, upholstery and a unique ambient scent that I will not easily forget. The staff really friendly and welcoming (the metre that bends over backwards to quickly please everyone), the reception really added value. All very good but our absolute favorite was Marina (I know the name because I really wanted to ask her). We entered and his smile made us feel immediately at home. We always looked for her, it was like knowing we had a family member who could help us with anything. A sunshine, a real pleasure talking to you. I would like to thank the organizers for the bottles of water found in the room every day and for the wine we drank toasting you too. Congratulations! Lavinia

This is the 2nd time my wife and I have chosen this hotel, and we had already booked to stay in December 2023 too.
The hotel is conveniently situated about 250 yards fro Tower Hill tube station, so the rest of London is readily accessible.
The check-in was fast and efficient. At check-in we were told that we were "lucky winners" and had the chance to win a bottle of prosecco, a room upgrade, or free breakfasts. My wife chose the lucky card, and we won the free breakfasts. On a three night stay, with breakfast at £20 per person, a "prize" worth £120, which we made full use of. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed, apart from a view overlooking the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, which had been a feature of our 1st stay, but hey, we didn't go to London for the hotel view.
The breakfast, all self serve, was excellent with a full range to suit every taste; charcuterie, cereals, yoghurt, with an assortment of toppings, for the less healthy os us, fried eggs, pork sausages, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, bacon. Bread and toasters for toast, butter and spreads too. Fresh omelettes were available on request to the chef, who would cook them there and then in front of you, adding any ingredient you fancied from the available choice.
Coffees were served from machines, and tea bags, in multiple varieties, were available with the water to brew them. A great way to start the day, and was never really busy and was definitely not rushed.
The public areas of the hotel were immaculate and the staff were among the friendliest we have ever come across.
The pool area, I cannot comment on, as we never availed ourselves of it, a mistake we will not make on our next visit.
The bar area, and outside seating zones, were always clean and well maintained and outside was a great place to sit down with a cold beer and discuss plans for the rest of the stay.
We didn't use the restaurant, as I'm a rather fussy eater and, on the rather limited menu, there weren't really any dishes that took my fancy.
In summary, an excellent hotel, with really friendly staff, in a location that opens the whole of London up to you from on 250 yards away. Highly recommended can't wait to be back in December.
