This hotel really is all about location, location, location ... with The Tower of London & Tower Bridge literally next door. ran Having stayed several times before & on these occasions having been randomly allocated rooms with spectacular views, this time I specifically requested a 'view' - only to be greeted by a room looking straight at the building (hotel/restaurant?)...

Run down, tired, poorly managed and maintained hotel. I am stunned by some of the positive reviews I can see which make me feel rather cynical... The first room we were shown was a bizarre affair - two double fold-down beds which were built in to the wall panelling. My wife had booked an executive double. We asked to be...

I stayed here a few years ago and it was amazing and felt like I was getting value for money. This time there rooms ( group of 3 of us between 2 rooms ) lacked the extra touch of a 5 star hotel. It lacked robes. Slippers. There was 1 towell each. No spoon for coffee. No turn down. A...

Overnight stay in Central London. Had stayed here before but a few years ago. If you drive it's cheap to park at Tower Hill Car Park at weekends after 2pm on Saturday. Car park is only 200 yards from Hotel. 8th floor double room was well appointed and had a lovely comfortable bed. View was towards The Shard with a...

This hotel needs to up its game. The signage is poor inside the hotel, despite the hotel saying the restaurant was open, the girl running it told us it was closed, which is pretty frustrating. The other bar had half the lights off so was hardly inviting, and again a half hearted bar manager. The room was pretty small but...

I booked this hotel for a surprise couple of nights in London for my girlfriend's birthday, allowing her to pick one element of the trip - the hotel. For location, this hotel was perfect, the staff were friendly and the rooms were to a very good standard. We booked this about two or three weeks before our arrival date via...

I stayed for one night at the Grange City Hotel. The location is excellent, a 30 second walk from Tower Hill tube station. The service is first class, the welcome was warm and check-in was very efficient. I was given a complimentary upgrade to an executive suite. The hotel is very clean throughout. The room was vast, clean and had...

I had a quick drink with a colleague who was in from New York We were in the Isis Bar. This bar is devoid of all character and soul. It is a place where you go to die. We drank past midnight. As far as I am aware, the laws in the U.K. require a bar to be open as...

Stayed for one night. The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated and in a fantastic location. My husband mentioned it was my birthday when booking and we got a free room upgrade ! Room was large clean and the queen sized by was very comfortable. A complementary cheesecake was brought to our room when we checked in. We paid...

Lots of brass, inlayed wood and marble. Room was a good size for London. Great shower/bath! No car park but on-street parking v close by (not sure how possible this would be to use on a week day). Didn't eat in the hotel (breakfast wasn't included) so can't comment on that. Lovely spa facilities included in room price - pool...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
