I was recently treated by a friend to afternoon tea at the hotel for my birthday. The location is very convenient, being a stones throw from Piccadilly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the ambience was nice, if not a little too quiet, but that really is a minor thing. The food itself was just ok, I've had...

If you are looking for a hotel in a centric location, but at the same time noiseless, this is your hotel. The St. James is a small hotel next to the Ritz and Regent Street. The views of it are quite bad. The restaurant is very good, however, the breakfast (specially the Continental) is very poor. Good service and nice...

After good experiences at the Athenaeum Piccadilly and a poor one at Sheraton Park Lane, we went a little up-market for a one-night stay at the St James Hotel and Club. The welcome and lunch in the Michelin restaurant was superb and we could not fault the service in any of the public rooms. Evening cocktails could not have been...

Even before we arrived at the St. James, the Concierge, and lovely assistants, helped us smooth out our travel plans for a forever memorable first day in London. We acquired last minute tickets to Highclere Castle (where Downton Abbey is filmed). The Concierge suggested our driver, also an expert guide, pick us up at Heathrow, then drive us directly to...

We love everything about this place: Its quiet location, (but in the perfect neighborhood and easy to get just about everywhere;) the concierge service and gracious hospitality of the entire staff, ( and warm welcome back;) the elegant rooms, bar and restaurant; and the fabulous original art. We'd come here all the time if we lived in the UK! As...

Located on dead end Park Place, the hotel surroundings were quiet save for the construction down the street. We found the location perfect. Within walking distance of Bond and Regent Streets, the theater district and Buckingham Palace, we barely needed to use the Underground. The rooms were a bit small, but there was plenty of closet and storage space and...

We loved everything about the St. James's - especially the service and gracious hospitality of its staff. From John Hennessy's welcoming Reception when we first booked the hotel, right up to departure time when we received such kind assistance, it was a truly memorable experience. In addition to John, I want to mention the Concierge members: Madeleine, Cezary and Tony...

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. The staff, the rooms, the food..all amazing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London. The location was convenient. The breakfast was delicious and had a nice selection to choose from. We had lunch and dinner as well and it was just as wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were...

This is the perfect boutique hotel in one of the best neighbourhoods in London. Beautifully restored former gentlemen's Club with all modern conveniences. The rooms are fresh and nicely decorated with marble bathrooms and stunning art throughout the building. Rooms generally come with a nice breakfast buffet and the Hotel boasts one of London's finest dining establishments. The Hotel is...

This was our first time at the St. James Club in London and we couldn't have been happier. The hotel is beautiful--located on a quiet street in a very central location (a unique combination!). The staff was incredibly friendly and the rooms and halls spotless. Many of the rooms are pressed for space (as to be expected in an older...

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
