We recently returned from a trip to the UK and Ireland, including London. Going on the cheap (nothing in London is really "cheap"), we booked the Marble Arch Inn, primarily due to its proximity to the Oxford Street area and Tube. That's about all that is favorable about this "hotel." We booked a double room-and got two singles squished together... More

The Marble Arch Inn hotel in London is by far the worst I've seen in Europe - and I've stayed at hundreds of hotels... The room was out of order when we came, so we couldn't check in. When we came back hours later, we were given a smaller room without WC for the first of three nights. This turned... More

The hotel has a great location for shopping but that's where the positive comments end. The whole hotel is painted in a horrible purple colour except for the areas they haven't bothered to paint at all. We entered the smoky reception to find three people behind the desk. Who all ignored us! We had to interupt them to try and... More

Friendly staff. Very cheap accomodation and excellent location, just off Oxford Street. Quite small rooms, and definitely no luxury but considering the price - why complain? I liked the breakfast baskets. I will stay there again.

The room was in the basement with a window opening onto a small shaft, fresh air was non existent. The bathroom is more like a plastic moulded thing from a caravan, there was no room for two people and luggage and no wordrobe or drawers. Satelite TV consists of standard terrestrial channels plus CNN news and two shopping channels. The... More

I got this hotel for £40, about a third of the price of the hotels in the area. It's just off the vibrant Edgware Road, about 5 mins from the West End. The rooms were shabby but clean, vermin-free and with a comfortable bed. The people were friendly and I felt I got a fair deal. Recommended for people on... More

I made a reservations, then cancelled it after reading the comments regarding this place on this website (a very useful website, I might add). Though they were canceled before the 'penalty period' this "hotel" still charged the credit card - and am still trying to get them to credit this unauthorized charge. Beware! - the reviews here appear to be... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
