I have to eat my words, I previously left a 1 star review when I was chasing a refund due to lockdown but this was due to incorrect information from Booking.com (they claimed it was hotel to refund me, when in fact it turned out Parkwood hotel hadnt received any funds from them yet). I eventually got payment back from booking, com and have had some nice discussions/emails with Parkwood which, as a result, I have retracted the negative review and turned it into a positive. When our plans are re-arranged, I will be staying here and giving them my business.

2020 has been a challenging time for all travellers around the world- especially if all your plans are cancelled. Thank you Parkwood Hotel for refunding our full amount, despite me booking a 'no-cancellation option'. Your compassion and generosity has not gone unnoticed and I will definitely return to your hotel when the world settles and we travel again.

I was looking for a hotel near a tube station which wasn't fiendishly expensive, rated at least 4.0 on TripAdvisor and hopefully included breakfast. I knew I would have to be lucky. I didn't expect to be this lucky. First, the two minor drawbacks. Not all rooms have an ensuite, and there is no lift. The property is a pretty townhouse in a nice part of London and that's just what they are like. If either of these things give you cause for concern, talk to the hotel directly, and I am sure they will do their best for you. Forewarned by reviews on TripAdvisor, I took a lightweight shoulder bag rather than a wheeled suitcase, and there was always a bathroom free when I wanted one. As for the good points? Everything else. Room 6 was tiny but cosy and I could open the window. Everything was spotlessly clean and there were ample supplies of tea and coffee. I slept really well in a comfy bed. In the morning I had a fantastic breakfast and chatted to friendly staff. On checking out, I was able to leave my bag and collect it later, just as I had done the day before. On a miserable Wednesday night in January, every room in the hotel was occupied, which pretty much says it all. Would I stay again? I'm already trying to find a reason.

My partner and I stayed at the fantastically well-located and comfortable Parkwood Hotel last winter. We enjoyed the quiet and clean room, the delicious breakfasts, walking in Hyde Park, and all the conveniences of Marble Arch, including the proximity to public transport and all that London has to offer. Most striking, though, was the amazing kindness and care when my partner became sick and had to go to hospital. The proprietor, Gail, and all the staff were beyond fantastic. The Parkwood is truly a home away from home.
