I've now been to this hostel on three separate occasions. The place is great! The staff is warm and friendly while the atmosphere is that of a backpacker's style hostel. I found it very easy to to meet people here and get find out about great places in the area.

The hostel is located right next to British museum in an excellent position and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and so are the toilet but most of them are located at the secon/third floor with no lift and just narrow stairs and I had very heavy luggage, in addiction the storage room was at the... I stayed here last year during my first backpacking trip to Europe, a friend of mine stayed along on my first night there and since we made our bookings separately, we promptly requested the hostel staff if we could stay on the same room by giving them our reservation numbers, eventually when I arrived in London my friend informed me... Astor's Museum Inn is in a fantastic location and well priced for a hostel. Yes, it smells a little and the shower pressure is non-existent. However, the bathrooms were clean, the staff were great, as were the people I stayed with. It's a short walk to the Tube, a longer walk to most major sights in London, and really close... More

My stay at the Astor Inn was a rollercoaster ride. I was staying for two nights and was really happy about the location, close to the City Centre, the British Museum and the underground. The price is really cheap. You can't beat £18 a night in London including breakfast. The rooms are basic dormitories but the bed were clean. You... More

An awesome hostel, great location, great facility, decent breakfast, all for under 20 pound during the offpeak season. Awesome party hostel and also can be very quiet at the same time. slept well. stayed in 3 different rooms because of how packed it was but Good location, near tube Russell Square & Tesco.

People were helpful. That’s about the best thing I could say about this place. Otherwise very dirty and smelly for hostel standards. Also if you pay with a credit card they determine the exchange rate which was a horrible rate and we ended up paying nearly 8 euro more a night. Kitchen was extremely small and it was nearly impossible... More

Good location, near tube Russell Square & Tesco. Not expensive / night. Room is big. Bed is comfortable. (I stayed in 14-bed room). Showers are clean. WiFi is free for 40 mins, then 8 GBP for unlimited hours within 7 days, so, not bad. Breakfast is good, staffs are very friendly. I stayed at Astor for 4 nights. No problem... More

This hostel was a nice place to stay. It was in a old building, but it felt clean and comfortable. I was worried about noise levels, but it was quiet at night in the rooms and the street it was located on was a small quiet street as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not a whole... More

Everyone here is so extremely friendly!!! We even spent a night playing Scrabble with the workers. It's great. There is a movie/game room for rainy days and a huge kitchen to cook in. Breakfast is included. The rooms are huge!! Each bed has a nice under the bed storage bin. And it's in a great location. Love it!!

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of the oldest low budget hotels in London, the Museum has been helping weary backpackers and travellers loosen up since 1977! The location of this hostel makes it one of the best value hostels in London central. Right in front of the British Museum guests can access Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Leicester Square in just 10 minutes. Definitely the best central London hostel.A cosy budget hostel split across two buildings near Russell Square, this low cost hotel doesn't feel much like it. With a recently renovated kitchen, new reception and revamped lounge. There are dozens of sights located so close to the hostel, and is best hostel to visit as much of London as you can take in! Otherwise stay indoors with your fellow residents and enjoy a good time in the kitchen or if weather permits on our small terrace. ... more   less
