even with the curtains , everytime somebody goes in, you will be notified either because of the horrible noise that the door makes, the light from the corridor, or the bang of the door on the bed... very sad experience.

Firstly the pie and mash was excellent but what a journey we had getting there...
We were in London for the weekend and decided to try out the Meerkat 2 for 1 voucher and looked at the list of nearby participating pubs and this place came up, we checked the conditions and noted we had to phone to make a reservation so I rang them at around 8pm. Despite what was said on the Meerkat website we were told that we had to make a reservation on their own website, I pointed out that this was not what was instructed. The same lady then told me that I could make a reservation over the phone but that it had to be at least two hours again, again this was not in the terms and conditions as set out and I pointed this out together with the fact that I was considering reporting them for breaching the terms and conditions as I felt they were just batting me off with excuses. All change, yes we can accomodate you and I arranged a booking for 9pm. The wife and I turned up, said who we were and after several whisperings amongst the staff we were show, n to our table in a completely empty restaurant, we elected to eat outside and enquired what the 'pie of the day' as advertised was. A quizzical look followed from our waitress, yes a blonde who then ran back in to the kitchen to ask (wouldnt you have expected her to know?) Anyway, steak was the answer so we ordered2 pie and mash and a couple of beers please. Immediately on doing this another waitress came out with the card machine to take our money without us even seeing or tasting our food! Maybe she thought that although we are both in our sixties we were going to leg it. I was then given the option of leaving my credit card and running a tab which I did. Our food came and we asked our blonde friend if we could trouble her for some salt and pepper, whilst our meal went cold for a few minutes she came back with pepper and white sugar which thankfully I noted. I went back and politely pointed out her mistake and eventually some sugar was found in just in time before our meals went stone cold. As I said the pie and mash were delicious though, we had another drink and a lovely chat with an Italian waiter who seemed absolutely great before leaving. So, St Christophers, if you do an offer then stick by what it says on the tin, employ sensible people like your Italian chap and at least let your customers taste the food before trying to charge them.

Friendly and organised pub; well setup for the April-May restrictions around outdoor eating and drinks. Plenty of staff, good signage and communication also. The pizzas were very freshly made and cooked; super impressed with them! Definitely recommended for a meal and a pint

I stayed for one night (originally planned for two but cut it short due to our experience) in August at this hostel and when checking in it seemed fairly decent. However, when a fellow traveller was sick from the top bunk down into my belongings (filling my shoes and splashing my towel, water bottle etc) in the middle of the night, the staff didn't have the amenities to disinfect the floor adequately. The staff member in the middle of the night was helpful and moved us to a different room, and washed the shoes, but stated we would have to return to the same beds the next night. Breakfast was a plain slice of bread with jam and an option for sliced cheese and warm tomato. You could have a dry bowl of cereal too. After speaking with reception about the incident, they refused to look at the availability of their other rooms/beds even though there were numerous empty beds in our room of 21, stating they were fully booked without looking at the screen. Upon returning that afternoon to the hostel to collect our things, the room still reeked of alcoholic vomit after 'housekeeping' had visited.
Overall, you get what you pay for with this place, just hope you get a top bunk.

This was a great hostel to stay at. The staff were super super friendly and the location was great. I stayed in a 14 room female only dorm. The bunks were two beds high with a curtain that you could draw for privacy. They had lockers downstairs for £.50 an hour or 4 pounds for the whole day. Great restaurant/bar right there. Bathrooms clean. Lounge area downstairs with the big TV and comfortable couches. Free wifi that worked great....even in the rooms. The upstairs chill room could use a bit of updating and cleaning as we saw a little mouse there. Overall I would definitely recommend this hostel. Staff helped me print out my boarding passes for my flight for free and we’re super friendly. I definitely would return.

Second time going to this pub near Borough Market and it was very pleasant - again. The waitresses are all very nice and welcoming, offering additional drinks without being too pushy and often asked if we needed anything else. Food was great as well. I had the vegan burger which was delicious, however the burger bun left me a bit underwhelmed. The chips were undercooked, not very nice, and a bit too salty. Good thing they had vegan mayo available on request. Very nice atmosphere even though not very busy but we all know who is to blame for that. Would recommend and will return!

We booked this pub due to the reasonably priced Sunday lunch they serve
I booked online, preordered and paid £10 per head.
When we arrived we liked the look of the pub as it was old fashioned and had character. Very few tables eating.
Unfortunately the part of the pub we were in was quite cold /draughty.
We ordered drinks and then waited around 30 minutes for our meal.
When our Sunday lunch arrived all 4 were cold. We informed the waitresses who repeated twice ‘they’re cold’ which we reiterated yes they are.
They took our meals away and we waited around 10 minutes for replacements. The waitress sarcastically commented ‘be careful I almost burnt my hand as they’re hot now’. I asked on two occasions for more gravy to which the waitress said ‘it’s just being warmed so it’s not cold’
Meals appeared to have been microwaved (evident in the beef being very hard to cut and chewy) however we were hungry so tucked in.
Carrots were salty +++ and green beans were tasteless. Beef was chewy and over cooked (from microwave probably).
Once finished we decided to leave due to waiting initially for our meal and still feeling hungry.
We went to the bar to ask for the bill. The waitress stated an amount which I informed her I had paid £40 deposit however she said no that’s right. We asked for an itemised bill to which she then said oh yeah i haven’t put the deposit off.
She informed us of the total bill which included a service charge. She said we can remove it if we wanted to which we politely asked her to do. She then nodded and commented ‘it’s just a measly tax tip’, took our payment and walked off without a thank you or a goodbye
Extremely disappointing meal and poor service from the waitress (unsure of name but mousy brown hair and wearing glasses)
Sometimes the customer isn’t right however there is no need to be rude and sarcastic with customers
Will not return and wish we had asked for a refund as we spent £14 on a meal and was still hungry

We left the bar and went to McDonald’s for more food due to still being hungry.

The rooms were clean, the bedding was pristine and the bathrooms too. I want to leave a special thanks to Mami that kept everything clean for us even though people are not as clean as one would like. The staff has been very welcoming in general, Gigi, Ale and the rest.
If I had to say something negative is that the bouncers at the pub entrance are really rude they shout and cream at your face and also use a WHISTLE to kick everyone out. I personally believe there are better ways to do that. Once the bar closes you are in for a very rude attitude from the security.
I may also leave a Suggestion. Ask your guests what's their business there, travel, work or leisure because when you share rooms with people who work you can't even turn the lights on if you needed. So it would be nice for instance that people who came for work had a room to share among them so the rest can chat, move things around, etc.
Breakfast was good, lots of options.
It is a lovely gesture to give out ear plugs for the ones who want to sleep through the live shows.
Location wise is great. Central London and you can get anywhere taking the Jubilee or Northern line. As many combinations as possible.
750mt to the London Bridge and The Shard and literally in front of Borough Market.

I have to assume good reviews for the pub are inflating the overall score for the hostel. It's cheap and that's about it.

Pros: Price and location. Both EU and UK outlets in the bunk.

Cons: Everything else? Reception literally said to me "I hope you didn't plan on sleeping" and she was right.

My room was so dusty and smoky that it brought back allergies I forgot I had. I know it was the room because I was fine a few hours after I left. I literally wound up sleeping with my mask on, not for covid but to block out the smoke from the alley.

If you get a bottom bunk, you can't sit up without smacking your head (and I am not a tall person). There was one stool and one shaky table in the room, and that was the only place to sit in basically the whole hostel because there is no common area on-site. And don't assume they'll let you into the pub at night just because you're staying, either. At 11:30, the bouncers were reluctant to even let me into the hostel entrance (and no, I hadn't been drinking, I guess they were just at capacity)

I know how the place is advertised, so I wouldn't take points off for this, but I needed both noise-cancelling headphones and ear plugs to block out the noise until 1 am. I naively thought a Wednesday wouldn't be too raucous.

In Sum: If you don't plan on sleeping much, working, or socializing, and literally just need a bed, this is fine. It was relatively quiet until around 22/23:00, then it was loud until 2.

Note: Some of the older reviews are outdated re: reception. You can check in at the pub now and *cannot* check in at the other location. I went there first by accident and wasted 20 minutes in line.

In sum, my staying at the hostel was okay.
It would surely have been better if it had not been for the night I washed my clothes and they got trapped in the laundry because nobody had told me it would shut at 23h, despite buying soap at the reception, and I had not seen the poster as the door was open. To make matters worse, it should open at 8h the next day, but I was told by the unlikeable and unhelpful Dutch staff member Alice that I'd have to wait for the owner who had the key and would arrive between 9h and 10h, which would spoil my plans for that morning. Fortunately, I met the Brazilian staff member Artur upstairs who kindly took me to the laundry which, to my surprise, WAS OPEN!!! In addition to this episode, it's worthwhile to point out about some staff members that:
* Bangladeshi Hassan: very professional and helpful, but never smiles;
* Brazilian Talita: very professional;
* Argentinian Nicolás: friendly and helpul;
* French Ewran: unlikeable, unhelpful, never smiles;
* Italian girl: friendly and helpful;
* Australian Michael: by far the best staff member. He is pure positive energy, smiles and willingness to help.

Booked here to stay 1 night I had tried calling multiple times to get no responses. They insist they man reception 24/7 and pick up every time I have 6 calls on my phone of under a minuet. Got there and I believe the issues started because I am disabled they would not take my ID card which is government issued even though slightly out dated (which according to the lady they could ignore it’s date) because it has no date of birth. None of their websites say date of birth on them. Kept asking for a manager to be told no we don’t have one here asked for a phone number to call them again not allowed.

Reception staff are lazy and ignore basic manners. I believe all of the behaviour is because they didn’t want a disabled person staying with them. Bar manager was gotten eventually and he at least tried but no one would take my government issued ID. The term and conditions of having a date of birth was made up and not a genuine rule. They kept claiming I would cost them their license if I stayed.

Never got to stay had to make a 3 hour train journey back home.

The one above the Pub is mixed, I stayed there recently. I think you'll be placed accordingly when you check in at the office, about 50m from the pub.
