I have just returned from a superb weekend in London, made all the better by staying at The Tavistock. Excellent family room for 4, with two sinks and four real beds (not a zed bed in sight). Bar prices reasonable, excellent concierge service. We will definitely be back. 10 mins walk from Euston, 15 min walk from Covent Garden and...

Just returned from yet another stay from the Tavistock hotel, could not fault it at all - great to see the lovely bar is now finished.. enjoyed having a drink in the bar - pure luxury!! While I was in there I could see a man walking through and he asked everyone in there if they were ok, he even...

We were all staying different lengths of time but we all got booked in with no problem via their on web page....

As we have visited this Hotel 4 times we know what to expect, good staff and comfortable room. They have refurbished the lounge and got rid of the wine bar. This review is to inform the guests who receive a free evening meal with their booking, go to the President, the carvery is brilliant, hot food, yes hot food at...

I have stayed at the Tavistock now for the last three years when visiting London and keep coming back due to its location and price. Sure, some of the rooms can be noisy and there's no air conditioning but what do you expect for 83 pounds in central London. The buffet breakfast is adequate and has a good selection of...

Disappointed! Although the area of the hotel is very good, near to all transportation services (underground, bus station), the service of the hotel was not good at all. The check-in was at 2:00pm but they let us have our rooms at 5:00pm due to system failure. So, we were sitting at the lobby for 3 hours doing nothing. They couldn't...

Stayed one night in a single room. Cost less than 100 which is great for Central London. For this I got a room plus breakfast. Overall cleanliness and quality is OK but I would say down on Travelodge etc. But as I said, cheaper. The room was very hot which was not controllable so had to open windows. A bit...

The Tavistock is excellently situated in a quiet, yet central area of London. On the Corner of Woburn Place and Tavistock Square, the hotel partakes of the calm Bloomsbury atmosphere; and is very handy to Euston Rail station (as well as nearby St. Pancras for Eurostar service; and King's Cross to the northeast and Scotland), as well as the 91...

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located on Tavistock Square Gardens the hotel offers stunning views as well as offering remarkable value for a historic Bloomsbury hotel. A great choice for business or leisure guests. You will find the Woolf & Whistle - a friendly bar nestled in the Art Deco ground floor of the Tavistock Hotel. Retaining the hotel's original 1920's features with a modern and elegant twist, Woolf & Whistle takes its inspiration from the famous 20th century writer Virginia Woolf, who once lived and worked in the neighbourhood. Providing a welcoming haven to our guests, locals and visitors to the area; our pub serves classic cocktails alongside traditional pub favourites in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. After all, a wise woman once wrote, ‘’One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.’’ The Tavistock is perfectly located for the health club and American style bowling alley as well as the exciting sites of the capital. ... more   less
