We enjoyed a fantastic weekend staying in this well located, small and friendly hotel. On checking in, we were upgraded to a small suite, a very welcome surprise indeed. We had an issue with the fans in the room, this was dealt with swiftly by the very helpful reception staff. We enjoyed the breakfast in the hotel, plenty of hot...

Stayed for 1 night using a travelzoo voucher. B&B + glass of wine, excellent value. Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving advice on bus routes etc. Room was compact but fine for 1 night, very quiet, clean and comfortable, free wifi. Breakfast was outstanding, continental meat /cheese options, fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, juices, teas + coffee all regularly refreshed...

Upmarket area ,very safe good location for shops ,parks, restaurants, & pubs...plus tube station Gloucester Road on the door step. Stayed here for 1 night and would not return. Staff were rude and more interested in finishing their conversation before helping us. The room was dirty, the floor was stained and is in need of a decent clean. The safety fire doors were always left open, I watched a staff member go through them and not even care just left...

Location is really convenient. Hotel reception is sufficient, not big, but inviting and nice. I stayed in an individual room and it was really small and not very comfortable: the entrance door leads directly to a wall, which makes it very difficult to get into the room (considering that there is a double fire door). On the right side of...

Location: A couple of minutes walk from Gloucester Road station so really easy to get to. Hotel: It's a nice building and looks inviting. Reception: Staff we spoke to were all polite and helpful. One of our room keys stopped working but they replaced it straight away. We got a free upgrade to a king room which was a nice...

My wife and I were "doing" the West End and needed to get our heads down somewhere. Rydges provided all that we needed: it was clean, it was comfortable and it was one minute from Gloucester Road Tube Station on the Piccadilly Line. Brekkers was more than adequate, though a little expensive if it wasn't included in your bill. The...

Very nice hotel in an excellent position with nearby tube station and many local amenities. Superior room decent size for London and proved quiet and relaxing. Staff very helpful throughout. Breakfast very good, catering for cooked and continental tastes but the big let down was the Jam Cupboard restaurant where we had a very poor evening meal. Would happily stay...

Booked a deal on travelzoo for £99 per night including full English breakfast and a glass of wine. All the hotel staff were friendly and we were upgraded when we arrived to a larger room . First impressions were of a dirty lift and dirty corridor carpets . The room was clean but the wooden window frame had an inch...

Like the previous reviewer we were upgraded on arrival but we too found our room to have a strong smell of cigarettes. When we woke in the morning the smell was even stronger, especially in the bathroom. It was a real disappointment as the room was comfortable, had all the facilities you would expect and the hotel was in a...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
