Stayed in a Studio for a week and it was a pleasant experience. Booked direct and managed to get an early check-in as an ASR Silver member.
Check-in was a breeze and the front desk agent went over the property, including the weekly housekeeping, complimentary Grab & Go breakfast for being Silver, along with the additional amenities located in the Laundrette.
The serviced apartment building was secure, requiring a key card to enter the lobby along with the lifts. My studio facing the rear was very quiet and featured air conditioning which was perfect for the heatwave where it got up to 30C during the day...
The studio was compact with usable water pressure in the handheld shower. There was a bottle of body wash cum shampoo along with a mini bar of soap inside the loo.
The closet featured a digital safe along with an extra blanket and ironing board.
The kitchen was fully equipped with crocket, hood, convectional oven, and mini fridge. There was also a glass bottle of water along with a small biscuit on the kitchen counter upon entry.
The staff also left a personalized computer typed note welcoming me along with a few mini packs of Jelly Bellies, a nice touch.
The TV featured mainly British channels with little to no International Business channels that I could locate. There was also Chromecast that was integrated with the TV.
The bed was comfortable with a relatively firm mattress. The windows were able to be opened and would disable the A/C.
Wifi was complimentary and reliable
The Laundrette in the basement was scheduled using the app and had wipes next to the washing machine. A £5 load of laundry includes detergent and conditioner dispensed from the machine. The dryer was £4/load. Reservations for the single set of machines are done via the WeWash app. There's also a laundromat directly across the street too.
The serviced apartment was very close to the Barbican tube station, a mere 3 minute walk. There are also grocery stores, cafes, and barber shops along the way to the station too.
The complimentary Latte machine in the lobby was convenient!

The neighborhood is not very glamorous, but the residence is rather nice and well located 3 minutes walk from Barbican Metro Station, 10 from St. Paul's Cathedral and 30 from the British Museum.
We were surprised to have such a spacious room (studio) with a quality bathroom (although the shower slips a little) and fantastic bedding. Everything is beautifully appointed. Plus: the TV is equipped with a chromecast that lets you watch whatever you want from your phone.
Breakfast can be enjoyed in the adjacent bar/restaurant and a free coffee, tea or hot chocolate machine is available in the basement.

We stayed 3 nights at the end of August in one of the studio rooms. The location was great with easy connections on the underground. Having a kitchenette was a real plus. Th ebed was firm but comfortable. The air-conditioning was amazing on a hot day. The design was modern and clean and the flooring in the bathroom was an old-timey map of London. Our room had doors between the hallway and the bedroom which kept hallway light and noise to absolute minimum.
The only downsides I had with the room. 1. The water pressure on the 7th floor was not great. It took a lot of effort to rinse the shampoo out. 2. If you use the cooktop, the ventilation hood did not extract enough cooking smells. We had bacon, and the room sort of had a bacon smell the rest of the weekend even with the extractor hood on full blast. You can not air out the room via the window because it only opened a crack.
If you are not cooking on the stove top or need much water pressure for cleaning your hair, it is a near perfect stay.

We are currently staying at Citadines Barbican with two more nights left, and our experience has been deeply disappointing due to unprofessional and disruptive behavior from the staff. Earlier today, when we returned from lunch, we were publicly accosted in the lobby by the senior receptionist, who shouted across the reception desk at us, demanding our room number to verify if we were staying at the hotel—presumably because we looked like we didn’t belong here? We’re not really sure why this happened, but it was rude and completely unnecessary. After confirming we were guests, she abruptly shifted the conversation to inquire whether we had signed the necessary pet paperwork—likely to disguise the rudeness of her initial behavior. This was not only embarrassing, as the senior receptionist was mid-way through serving another guest, but it was also unnecessary, given that all procedures had been followed upon check-in.
Since then, the issue has continued to escalate. The staff have repeatedly emailed us while we are trying to enjoy our stay, claiming they cannot find the pet agreement and asking us to sign it again. The Front Office Manager has acknowledged the missing form in an email, and while I understand the importance of this document, the way the situation has been handled—interruptions, constant emails, and a lack of discretion—has made our stay far less enjoyable than it should be.
Even if the form wasn’t signed, which I’m quite sure it was, this is not how these situations should be handled. I don’t work in hospitality, and even I can recognize how poorly and oddly this has been dealt with. We have two more nights here, and frankly, I don’t even want to leave the room because of the awkwardness of walking through the hotel lobby after these interactions.
I cannot recommend staying here, which is a shame because the 1-bedroom apartment itself is a 10/10. Citadines must improve staff training and internal processes to ensure guests are not burdened with such issues.

We had booked a double room for one night. When we arrived, we given a room with two unconnected twin beds pushed together with separate duvets. Obviously this is not at all what was booked or advertised. We tried to make do, but neither of us slept well as the beds were constantly pushing apart throughout the night.
Further to this, using the provided shampoo and conditioner damaged my hair to the point I’ve had to use multiple hair masks.
Would not recommend this hotel in the slightest.

Dear Ash, Greetings from Citadines Barbican London. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. Your experience during your recent stay at our property is of the utmost importance to us, and we regret to learn that your experience did not meet your expectation. It is my understanding that you were not happy with the room category booked, unfortunately because of the dynamic of our business, we are not able to guarantee bed types, hence the reason they are sold as double or twin subject to availability. I would invite you to book a studio next time where we have more availability for double beds and would be more suitable for your needs. I am surprised to read about the cosmetics at our guests disposal in our property as we did not encounter this situation before. As all our products are certified sustainable friendly, perhaps there was an ingredient that was not suitable for you, being our products being mostly plant based and we regret that we could not foresee this issue. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. Please know that we take all guest concerns seriously, and we are committed to addressing and resolving the issues you have brought to our attention. If you have any additional details or if there's anything else you'd like to share, please feel free to reach out. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we hope to have the opportunity to restore your faith in our services during your future visits. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we look forward to the opportunity to better serve you in the future. Kind regards Beatrice Evenor, Front Office Manager

I was booked into this property by a sister apartments reception as they had no hot water over a weekend. From check in to check out this place was fantastic. I was met at check in by Daniela, the General Manager who was absolutely lovely, even offering me a free breakfast and a taxi back to the other apartment as small compensation for the inconvience. Daniela and her staff were so welcoming and friendly, they are a real credit to this place. The room was well appointed and I slept well even though the room faced the road there was little noise. The bathroom was deluxe and the hot shower was most welcome after two days of not being able to have a hot shower at the other appartment. Although I arrived quite late in the day I found a pizza place quite close for dinner. Unfortunately I didn't spend much time in the area heading back to the other apartment the next morning but I really enjoyed my stay here.

Location is in local neighborhood with everything you need with walking distance or short tube ride. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops as well as a grocery store close by. Room was small, a studio suite? I’m guessing. Not enough room for 2 carry on suitcases to be open. It was immaculate clean, with shampoo/ body wash, but there is NO hair conditioner for us long haired gals, so make sure you bring your own. Water pressure was very low, took forever to get shampoo out of my hair. The restaurant at the hotel was closed ( permanently?) and something always seemed to not be working. The A/C was not working upon arrival was not fixed for several days, they gave us a room fan ( not the same cooling as AC), the self serve laundry wasn’t working, then the lobby coffee/ expresso machine was not working. Overall would probably stay elsewhere, but given the price point it was very good value for the price

Dear Katt, Thank you for your detailed review and for taking the time to write your thoughts about Citadines Barbican. Such comments are always very valuable for us and I can assure you that we have fixed the areas you have highlighted. Thank you for all of your positive comments and feedback of our hotel and its cleanliness. We strive to make our guests feel as if Citadines Barbican is their home away from home and feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Unfortunately, Sourced Market, our 3rd party food supplier, went into liquidation closing all their premises in London as a consequence of the COVID pandemic, and therefore resulting in our breakfast offering no longer being available. I do apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. In the meantime, we are offering a Grab & Go breakfast offering to all guests as a temporary solution for a nominal fee. And we are in the process of looking for a new partner to once again offer a full breakfast offering to ensure you have a convenient and comfortable stay. I sincerely hope you will allow us the opportunity to welcome you again in the near future. In case you would like to book further with us, please do contact me directly. Best wishes, Celia Bau Assistant Residence Manager

Friendly reception, rooms are modern furnished with a little kitchenette, also the angled entrance is a bit strange. For the take away breakfast, you should receive a paper to fill out the night before, which in my case did not happen, so no breakfast. It should be called anyway continental breakfast, so people know what they should expect.

room was spacious and clean, was put in a room looking out on the main road and couldn’t hear traffic very much if at all. Downside was that there is absolutely no noise proofing between rooms! My next door neighbour was playing music relatively early in the morning and I could hear every word of the songs and it actually woke me up. If you get a room with a shared entrance and the doors are angled together then you’re done for noise wise - was very frustrating. Bed wasn’t very comfy either, but if you like hard beds then it might be fine for you.

I would check this in advance - I don't know the answer to that. Once you are in, the room key opens the front door too. I'm unsure if there is 24 hour reception.
Barbican tube station is about 200M away which will give you access to underground giving you bucking palace within a complete journey of around 35 mins.
If you insist on walking, St. Paul’s is about 10 mins away, Tower of London about 35 mins.

It was a voucher that was included in the room rate and you could choose breakfast items to that value. I didn’t have cooked items but I think there was a reasonable choice. I had warm porridge with berries and my friends had mashed avocado on toast. Hope this helps
