We chose to stay at this hotel because, when it was County Hall, I had my medical to join the brigade here. Now I have retired and it seemed a fitting place to end my career! We were met by the doorman, extremely smartly turned out, who was polite and helpful. Check in was quick and the staff throughout the...

This Marriott was wonderful! From our room window we could see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, and the Thames River. These views were incredible! The Concierge was most helpful, not only in our plans, but also when I encountered a mishap while touring (I broke 3 bones in my foot!), they offered me the use of their wheelchair...

This hotel was the perfect base for our sightseeing in London. We stayed here for 7 nights in August during the busy tourist season. The central location made it very easy walk to many attractions and was close to the Underground/train stations for longer trips. Especially enjoyed the Jubilee Walkway outside the hotel that follows the river and felt safe...

Our recent 6 night stay at this hotel was a mixture of experiences. Frustrations associated with a hotel which Is badly in need of serious renovations and relief that the staff tried so hard to make our stay pleasant. The room was very dated and a very long walk from the elevators .....about 5 minutes to make it round. Air...

Upon arriving at the hotel at 11:00 am, I wad told my room was not ready. I didn't think I would have to wait 5 hours. At 2:00 pm, I received a call saying the room would be ready at 3:00. When I went to the front desk, I was told sorry, it's now 4:00. While standing in the lobby,...

We booked this Marriott for my 40th birthday as a treat but what I ended up with was a bad experience. We stayed on the 18th August 2014 and booked an executive room with lounge access. When it was time to go to the lounge for cocktails we couldn't get in as there were no more tables available and we...

My husband and I stay at this hotel for its location. It's in a great location, easy to walk to all the places we needed to visit. Our room was very large and spacious (didn't think that would happened in town) and had a fantastic view of the river Thames, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben the London Eye. All the...

My wife chose this location because of its location as in location, location location. She was spot on as the Brits would say. You are so close to everything. It's all in walking distance. As previous reviewers have noted, your room can be a long walk away. We had a room over looking the Thames & London eye. We were...

My room had a great view of London Eye and it was conveniently located near South Bank's cool pop up shops and atmosphere. Close to two tube stops, Westminster and Waterloo. Good hotel overall. This hotel used to be the County Hall of London from 1922-1986.

Great location and lovely old building. Our room view was the London Eye, which was really nice, BUT to get to the room took a long LONG time, walking through a maze of winding halls. WiFi was OUTRAGEOUSLY priced if you wanted Wifi in the room, but free in the common areas. That was a big disappointment, and would prevent...

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
