The Mercure London Paddington Hotel garners accolades for its service and cleanliness, with guests often mentioning the attentive housekeeping and friendly staff, despite occasional mentions of unresponsiveness. While the historic charm and cozy atmosphere are well-regarded, opinions on the rooms are mixed; they are praised for their cleanliness but criticized for being compact and somewhat outdated. The hotel's prime location near Paddington Station is a highlight for many travelers, although views on value and amenities are polarized, with some guests questioning the balance of cost versus room size and functionality.

I stayed 6 days during Christmas with 30% discount and breakfast under global sales. It doesn't matter not to be any next level upgrade for my Platinum level, but there is not any online checkin email.

Staff for housekeeping are really work hard to clean my room under 4 luggage in the 10 sqm room.

The rate includes breakfast. I can choose Hotel Indigo London Paddington as alternative for some days. Indigo has more choice especially vegan. Anyway, you must taste both if there is the chance.

Stayed there fore 13 nights after coming back to the UK.

The hotel's location was really nice and just a few steps from the Covid test centre which was really convenient for the UK arrival tests.

The staff was all nice.

However, there were quite a number of constructions around the hotel which sometimes caused too much noise during the day; yet, the dust was all around the area.

Also, the wall was a little too thin so you could hear when people fought or talked in front or next to your room.

Shampoo and shower gel were provided BUT not together.. some day there were only 3-4 bottles of shampoo and some day were tons of shower gel.

Would recommend for a short stay if you happen to have business around there but for a long-stay, you might wanna look for some places more quietly.

Stayed for a few nights in a high floor for business. Elevator was not working but guests were offered to take luggage up and down by the staff on check in which was a plus, as I struggle with steps they also managed to find me a room on a lower floor the next day.
Rooms are smaller than they show on the pictures on websites and a bit dated, but its not the staffs fault. Room had everything I needed, mini fridge, kettle, and I really enjoyed the bottle of shower gel/shampoo as it was a bottle attached to the wall, no fear of running out.
Quick call to reception on departure and a few minutes later my bags were taken down. All staff I met were friendly regardless of the hardship and treatment received by other guests.
I will come back here when in London again.

Convenient hotel, close to Paddington Station for easy and quick access to tube and rail services. Despite being on a busy road didn't notice any traffic noise. Given late evening departure flight, Bogdan at reception organised a late checkout which meant we could freshen up before leaving for our flight - luckily the room hadn't been otherwise booked.

We booked this hotel based on the photos and proximity to Paddington for a one night stay in London . We checked in with our daughter in the morning but could not see our room as it was too early , not a problem .....until we got there at 9.30pm ! Some very clever photography had made a shoebox ( family room , don`t make me laugh ) that overlooked a brick wall at the back of the hotel look like a suite ! Not only that but the room stank of silicon , the result of recent building works . The manager at the reception accepted that he knew previously about the problem but also said that no other rooms were available .... he did remember after 10 mins that they had a sister hotel next door and showed me to an unexciting room there . Needs must , we said yes . At that point , we discover that the receptionist had just let the room to someone else , brilliant ! Ultimately we paid £20 taxi fare to go to the lovely Exhibitionist hotel in South Ken , should have gone there in the first place !! It has taken six weeks to get a refund through Booking.com , and numerous phone calls and emails . It is only thanks to Lourdes at the hotel that this happened, whilst the hotel were originally at fault , Booking .com have been shocking. Impossible to get through to anyone and have a rational conversation .
At some point, hotels have to take sensible photos of what they are offering , and not offer the Hanging Gardens of Babylon when they are offering a flower pot !

It's now been quite a while since I visited a Mercure Hotel, with COVID-19 putting the brakes on most forms of travel. Certainly, with this location, I was missing a treat. I checked in around 9pm and was informed by the incredibly courteous receptionist that I had been upgraded, which was much appreciated after the long day. The room was spotless and came with the vast majority of pre-covid amenities, including the Nespresso machine, as well as a beautifully hot rain shower which was also much required after a long day of travelling. For the £72 paid for the night, just a day before visiting, I'd say that the value for money in terms of being right on Paddington's doorstep is nigh on unbeatable.

Stopped at this hotel on 25/01/20 for one night. Instead of staying at an Hotel at Heathrow Airport, I boarded the Heathrow Express, for a 15 min journey into Paddington Station. The hotel is 2 mins walk from the station. Exit the station by the large roadway exit, walk to the top of the road. Turn left, cross the road staying on the left hand side, and its there. If you reach McDonalds, you have gone too far.

The Hotel is a compact design, very clean and the check in staff where very helpful. Bogdan and Gabriel could not do enough for us to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible.

The room was very clean, well presented and offered all the amenities you would need.

I found stopping here gave me a larger option of dining facilities as opposed to being stuck at the airport.

Bonus feature was, as we where not flying out to much later in the evening, the hotel very kindly lets you leave your excess luggage, free of charge, for 24 hours. This is cheaper than the £30 being charged by the kiosk on Paddington station.

Hotel room was very small and standard for the price, the double bed was very small and bathroom.
I stayed for two nights and outside our window was building works, work men were drilling the ground and being loud from 7PM- 5AM onwards.
Opposite our bedroom was a staff room, could hear the staff taking loud early in the morning, on a positive note the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

It is difficult to find the correct rating for this hotel.

Is it downright bad? Perhaps not, but it does fall below the minimum standard one would expect of a hotel of this category. To be fair, we did get a good nights sleep (but see below); the room was clean (but see below); and the plumbing mostly worked (but see below).
It’s hard to know where to start with the long list of shortcomings of this hotel, so I will start in chronological order. The receptionist who checked us in was offhand and casual, did not acknowledge me as a member of the hotel’s loyalty scheme, and did not give us the breakfast vouchers we had asked for. The room was clean but very small, even by London standards. It was fitted with an air-conditioning unit that was visibly filthy on the inside and caused the room to smell of sweaty socks when turned on. Usable air conditioning would have been useful, as the hotel is on a busy street adjacent to a building site (not the serene location promised in the hotel’s blurb). After the first night, housekeeping did half a job, replacing some towels but not others, replenishing some hospitality tray items but not others, and not making up the bed. We had three lots of shampoo but no shower gel. On the second night there was no hot water. Overall, the staff, none of whom wore name badges, gave the impression that they were poorly trained, poorly managed, poorly motivated and just didn’t care. Breakfast was better, with friendly, efficient service and nice food, though several breakfast items were unavailable.
