What a simply wonderful experience from start to finish. My partner and I went for our anniversary and went to see The Beach Boys at The Royal Albert hall ( 10 min walk) . On arrival the door was opened for us by a gentleman with a natural genuine smile so welcoming. We then went to reception again very happy...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 3 January 2017 via mobile

I had previously stayed in the South Kensington area at another hotel and paid double the price that I paid here, and I thought the staff, room quality and amenities at the Grange were just as nice as the more expensive place. The lobby was a little old school, but once we got up to our room, it was very...

Great location and very quiet, and yet close to 2 tube stations (3 lines!) and many restaurants. Breakfast is delicious, even the continental one. Staff most polite and helpful. Bathroom well provided with luxury goods.

Based just of Crompton Road, near to Gloucester Road Tube Station, around the corner from the Natural History, Science and V&A Museums. A 20 mins walk from Kensington Palace and Gardens, Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park. Historically interesting hotel due to being the Queen's grandfather's house. Room was small but had good blackout curtains and heating, good TV, bathroom...

Stayed here with my mom for a few days. The twin room was cozy (small), but I feel like that is to be expected in London. The staff was very friendly and were quite helpful with anything we needed. The neighborhood was really the best part--so many restaurants and tea/coffee shops were right within walking distance. The tube station was...

Please beware: the so called superior rooms are in fact standard rooms as the helpfull hotel staff told us. After changing two unacceptable rooms though we were offered an upgrade in another hotel in London. It was o.k. although the "view" was the wall of another hotel building.

If you are heading towards a west London Georgian building, housing a hotel of some repute and some provenance (Once owned by the Earl of Strathmore, the Queen Mothers father), you have very high expectations. And indeed, once we had sighted the delightful exterior, with its rising stone steps and black iron railings, we felt sure that we were about...

Stayed here for one night after watching The Who at the Albert Hall. Decent sized room, clean and comfortable. Breakfast nice enough, bar stays open late and is reasonably priced, location is excellent.

So it's London and everything costs a fortune. This is a nice, mid-range hotel in a nice part of London. The staff are very friendly and the reception, although tiny, works well. But for a average London hotel cost the room I was allocated was tiny. I was way up in the clouds (roof space) and the room was literally the...

Thank you for your review. I am pleased you found our staff friendly and you enjoyed your breakfast. Rooms do vary in size at the Grange Strathmore Hotel. As the hotel is a listed building, the former home of the Earl of Strathmore, we are constricted by building regulations. The hotel does have many different room types available, including some...

Stayed for 2 nights, we were fortunate to be upgraded on arrival which was a lovely surprise. Room was modern, very clean, only thing was the TV was strangely positioned on the wall so you couldn't lie in bed and watch TV, but that's just a small thing. Staff very friendly. Continental Breakfast was included which had plenty of choice...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
