Easy to find on Southwark Street. Stayed for 2 nights. Very welcoming and efficient staff. Room clean, maid tidied room while I was out. Tea and coffee in room. Ideal location for Borough Market, I visited Tower Bridge, St Katherine's Marina, half an hour walk to Tower of London. 30 minutes walk to Imperial War Museum which was well worth...

We stayed for a long weekend. Great location - plenty to see in the vicinity, good access to public transport. Lovely staff. Nice room, good breakfast. Nothing to fault. Will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel for business visit. Very spartan looking - just as a working executive would need. Have all the comforts. The bed is quite firm - which I like. can't stand soft bed.spacious compared to what is available at London - which is space constrained. Then the reception - very receptive, and welcoming. Marco, Meritzell, Emanuel - you represented the...

Stayed there for 7 days. Mercure London bridge is all you need for a comfortable Business trip. Walking distance to London Bridge station, borough market, millennium bridge, nice restaraunt (Swan at Shakespeare's Globe). Breakfast is so-so. I went to The Table Cafe right next door, which is fantastic.

I was very impressed with the welcome from reception, as a silver member the welcome drink and personal note were well received. The room was very well appointed and comfortable, will definitely be back.

Nice hotel, rooms small, no more luxurious than a premier Inn really. Breakfast was cold, and waited ages for dishes to be replenished. Bar would only serve wine or beer after 12pm after we had come back from a conference.

An all round great stay. I couldn't fault this hotel. A good size family room for family of 2 adults and 2 young kids, and very well sited for Tate Modern, the Globe and the MIllennium Bridge. I'd also highlight the excellent service we enjoyed throughout the stay, and the yummy and reasonably priced breakfast. Very grateful for how well...

Have been travelling to London every week on business have begun to use this hotel now that I've started working on the south bank. It's quite modern and the room was very nice. I particularly like the fact that there is a hard pillow provided in the room as it's given me some of best sleeps I have had in...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
