Hazlitt's occupies a group of historic Georgian houses in Frith Street, off Soho Square. In 1718 there were no modern conveniences, but we have updated the plumbing, installed bathrooms and replaced most of the candles with electricity. At Hazlitt’s our philosophy is simple. We have set out to create the kind of accommodation we ourselves would love to find in the heart of one of the World’s great cities. Civilised surroundings; old fashioned hospitality; friendly efficient service; a location away from the roar of traffic, but within a very short walk of the most important attractions.

Set in an historic 18th century building this is a delightful place to spend time exploring London's Soho district and further afield. Each room is wonderfully furnished with antique fixtures and fittings. We had a suite on the ground floor with a large lounge/reception room and then a walk-in bedroom that could be screened off ensuring our sleep was not disturbed by the nighttime revellers outside. The bathroom was on the smaller side but perfectly ok complete with roll top standalone bath and a copper shower screen.
Because of the age of the building some doorways are quite narrow, for example from the bedroom to the bathroom and some floorboard noise from upstairs guests is inevitable. The bed was large and comfortable with a reasonable size TV. The lounge area had a fully stocked bar and there is an honesty bar in the hotel.
The breakfast was good albeit, as others have noted, not included in the price, and is delivered to your room at the time you specify, starting from 7am. We found the staff to be very courteous and helpful.
My only critique is not to do with the actual hotel itself but the website which somehow manages to have only limited information set out on it, such as whether breakfasts are available.

Beutifully decorated and styled Georgian hotel that is a true home from home. If you like to stay in a property that feels as though you are actually at home, then stay here. Lovely period features, with the added benefit of having the heating at full blast. Breakfast is room service only, but with such a brilliant location, you have an abundance of choice in neighbouring locations. Rooms are quirkily named, and, considering the location, not noisy. This is how Durrants should be... I will be back soon !

What a wonderful experience! We had a truly fun evening at this hotel, which offers the perfect blend of comfort and character. The bacon sandwiches delivered to our room in the morning were absolutely amazing—quite possibly the best in town!? The linen was crisp, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the whole atmosphere of this boutique hotel was just fantastic. Located in the heart of Soho, it’s ideally situated next to a wealth of theatres, restaurants, cocktail bars, and more—lots to do on your doorstep. I feel this was great value for money (the earlier you booked the better value for money), the staff were friendly and attentive, and the entire experience was unique and memorable. We’ll definitely be returning!

One stay at Hazlitt's left me wondering why I'd ever consider a big chain hotel ever again.
Simply put, the experience at this hotel was flawless.
- The location is ideal, being in the midst of Soho and surrounded by restaurants, nightlife, theatres, shopping. Despite being so close to all there is to see and do in the surrounding area, we never found ourselves bothered by any street noise. Hazlitt's is a quick, short, and pleasant walk ( <10 mins, really) to Tottenham Court tube station, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, and countless other places, while also being a refuge and oasis from all of the hustle and bustle of popular sights like those.
- We stayed in the Teresa Cornelys suite, which was a wonderful place to call home for our several nights at Hazlitt's. The room was spacious, with a large bedroom, sitting room, and massive bathroom upstairs. As is the theme throughout the hotel, the room was packed full of antique and period decor that made it all charmingly eccentric and gave the room wonderful personality. The bed was a bit outrageous, but in a way that just worked for the whole room (and it was also, most importantly, very comfortable!). And the bathroom? Only the included photo will do it justice.
I've not stopped recommending Hazlitt's to every friend and family member who's traveled to London since, and am thoroughly looking forward to my next stay.

Stayed here for the night while in London to see a show. We picked Hazlitts as we’d stayed at the Rookery one of their other hotels previously. We arrived early, as our room wasn’t ready they offered to look after our baggage and call us when we could use the room. Our first room Major Roberts was lovely, although on the top floor it was well appointed, lovely large bed, shower over bath, and very luxurious. Unfortunately there was no cold water from the sink tap. The hotel was quick to resolve the situation and change us to another room, Thomas Clarkson, this room was also very well appointed and luxurious. Rooms are very quiet at night with no noise heard outside, considering the hotel is in the middle of Soho. Would definitely stay here again and look forward to another visit.

Unfortunately we only stayed for one night, whilst attending a concert at the Palladium, as from the moment you enter from the street it is like entering a luxurious Georgian Townhouse - the decor is excellent from Reception, The Library to the lovely Meeting Room. Our Room ( Sir Joseph Banks ) on the second floor was extremely comfortable and the decorations stunning. The bed was very comfortable and unusually for an old building we were not disturbed during the night. This could only have been bettered by the inclusion of tea/coffee facilities in the room. Breakfast was available to be taken in the room but we opted out as there are many eateries within minutes. The location in Soho is excellent being only minutes away from many West End sights. The staff we encountered were welcoming and helpful. When we return to this area of London we will definitely consider this wonderful Hotel and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Great staff, who could not be more helpful. Nice room, immaculate throughout.
You may need to be of a certain vintage to deal with the plumbing in a historic building (victorian chain flush etc) so if you want ulta modern then this may not be the place for you. However, if you want unique, quirky and classy then this place will deliver in spades.
Room service is swift. The food itself was very nice and arrives hot and with all the trimmings. Tea and coffee is a bit weak but I just cannot think of anything else they could improve upon, and I am sure that had I asked for stronger, they would have obliged without delay. Also, if you are staying for more than one night then a larger room than the Madame Kennedy may be best as there is little storage for clothing.
There was a blazing fire and complementary coffee cake in the communal drawing room with a well stocked honestly bar. Sadly we did not have time to partake.
We ordered a cocktail tray, which was really good value, as it includes a half bottle of spirit, a large selection of vermouths, bitters, mixers, garnishes etc.
The toiletries are lovely, the towels fluffy and they brought me two extra pillows to make 6!
The room itself was so cosy on a November evening. I won't ever stay anywhere else in central London again.

Such a lovely place, makes you feel a part of history and like staying in a upscale proper English home . We stayed in the Joel Johnson room which was lovely, but at the top of the building, so if you are not good with 4/5 flights of stairs do ask for a room on a lower level . The sitting rooms were great on the 1st floor and we brought in some take away food and had a drink made from the “Honesty Bar” they provide . You have to be Buzzed in the front door so that added security was also nice. The staff was amazing and very helpful with arranging car service to and from Heathrow . This property was ideal for reaching many sites of interest for us. Lots of pubs , and restaurants are very nearby.

Hazlitt's is a treat in every regard! Incredible location in bustling SOHO, but still quiet for a relaxing retreat from the city. The rooms and common spaces are expertly designed with a truly creative edge that makes the stay extra special. We loved how the history of the space was preserved while offering all the modern amenities you could hope for. Steps from tube stations, incredible dining and entertainment, and the incredible energy of London. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we loved taking tea in our room and relaxing in the common spaces. This was the perfect place to end our visit to the UK, and I HIGHLY recommend a stay!

The staff here are outstanding. Everyone was friendly, helpful and kind. The rooms are lovely and interesting if you like antiques. The reception area and surrounding rooms are beautifully furnished with antiques including lovely paintings and mirrors. I really liked the honor gin bar- so creative. The bedrooms also are piled with antiques. There are some issues though some of which are not the fault of the hotel but rather the location. . Our room was at the back of the hotel which is usually preferable. However, in this case, we overlooked one of the many late night bars. The drunken screaming and brawling starts around midnight and goes until 3:30 ish (the bars close st 3). I actually opened my window at one point and requested the intoxicated revelers to tone it down. You can guess how well that went. This happened both nights so sleep was disrupted. The other thing that is within control of management are the bathroom toilets. They have antique toilet stools that are fitted over a modern toilet. These are awkward beyond belief. The cabinet cover has to be lifted up and does not stay in place so it hits you in the back while seated. The toilet seat and frame are wood which is more porous and raises hygienic questions as it can apt to absorb certain things. While kitschy to have a “throne”, modern plumbing is preferred.

Bathrobes are included. I don’t remember about the water, but we were greeted with very nice tea. We highly recommend this hotel, it’s walking distance to the theatres and safe.
Our room, The John Snow room had a kingsize bed( 180 - 210 cm across). I guess the sizes varies from every country, but where I come from a kingsize bed is 210, but I notice that some places it's not the same. Anyway, the bed in the John Snow Room was in the middle of the room, with plenty of room for my boyfriend and me. It was not a tight squeez, but very roomy and comfortable. It was a spaciously room too, beautifully decorated and a wonderful sofa in the windowsill. Velvet curtains around the canopybed and the windows. I loved it there, and I hope you will too. We are going back in september, so I 'm looking forward too that. 👍
There are more places to choose from in the London area.
