I stayed here with my partner in March 2016 for 2 nights as a birthday treat. All the staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming. Our server was very polite and asked us about our plans while we were in London. The room was very clean and with modern furnishings. We returned to the hotel in the evening after...

This is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is located across the street from Trafalgar Square, and next to the Charing Cross tube station. It is a stones throw away from The National Gallery and only a brief walk to Piccadilly Circus and most of the West End theaters, and yet still within walking distance of St. Paul's Cathedral...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Amber Hotel for ten days in December, 2003. Originally, we had a twin room (two beds), which was quite spacious. We then moved to a double room, which was much smaller. Each room had its own bathroom and TV. Also, the rooms were clean. Breakfast is included in the morning (tea, coffee, toast,...

I stayed at the Amber in November 2002. It was about a 10-min. walk from the Earl's Court tube station. Staff was friendly and efficient. Room tiny, but for about $40/night, who cares? My only criticism is that interior walls could have used fresh paint. Breakfast was plentiful and included in the room price.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
