Located near tube station and the building itself has historical character. Nice ambiance. I just find the lobby a bit dark even in daytime. Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice. But they finish early. We got room on the higher floor so it was quiet and quite comfortable. But my bed lamp was broken. WiFi comes with a surcharge. A... More

The main problem with our fourth floor room was that it faced the internal quadrangle which housed a variety of industrial sized air conditioning units. Insulation from this din was minimal because the old sash windows offered little protection. Unfortunately worse was to come as a wedding reception kicked off in the evening with a very powerful sound system which... More

The hotel has a good location and impressive exterior. The staff are polite. Unfortunately the single rooms are very small and shabby. The quality simply doesn't justify the price. They are also next to a very noisy part of the hotel (next to the air conditioning units). The hum from these fans is pretty overpowering so I would suggest you... More

This conveniently located 100-year-old (updated) architecturally interesting building was designed by the architect of the Titanic. It is right next to the Russell Square Underground (tube) station and across the street from a pleasant park - Russell Square. Well-served by an efficient and friendly multinational staff. Rooms on the small side, but well equipped. If arranged for, an ample British... More

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. I am delighted that you had a lovely stay with us at Hotel Russell. My husband and I stayed on a Saturday night as we went to the theatre (Angela Lansbury in Blithe Spirit at the Gielgud). The concierge on arrival was pleasant and helpful. The double room was fine; bed was comfortable, bathroom a bit dated but fabulous shower. Downside was that the room had no view other than an array of air... More

what more is there to say... rooms are modern, although the building is very old and has character. Rates are not as bad as you might imagine and worth the position in town and the service you get. We will stay again.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
