The hotel entrance hall is fabulously opulent in marble and we were not surprised to learn that the interiors had originally been designed by the same man who designed the main rooms on the Titanic. It all dates back to a bygone age of elegance. Our room on the fourth floor was a reasonable size with a good sized bathroom....

Dear Guest Thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. I am pleased that you had a fantastic stay at Hotel Russell and enjoyed the building’s Victorian grandeur and opulence. Charles Fitzroy Doll had designed the lavish interiors of Titanic and Hotel Russell remains a statement piece of one of his favourite designs where original marble and chandeliers can still be...

We booked a jr suite when we shown to our room it was not even close to what the pictures showed. I called down asked to be moved, the manager was right up. She agreed room needed attention moved us to room 211. The room is ok. But they really need to focus on small details. The bathroom with the...

Dear Guest Thank you for you review on Tripadvisor. I am sorry to learn that you were disappointed with certain aspects of your stay with us. I do apologise that initial room did not meet your expectations fully and you encountered a few maintenance concerns in your room. First time in this hotel although I have a friend who stays here a lot. First impression is one of old-fashioned luxury, with lots of marble, dark wood and polished brass. I had an economy double, right at the top and at the back, but that simply meant no noise and I couldn't chase anyone around the room. The queen....

We had two nights in the Russell staying in Room 660 on the sixth floor. The room was a good sized twin with flat screen TV, two arm chairs, tea & coffee making facilities, ironing board, hair dryer and room safe. Internal entrance lobby to the room lead directly onto a large bathroom with a powerful & hot shower over...

Stayed on 24 April for my husbands birthday. You cannot help but be blown away by location, appearance and fantastic decor. Reception staff helpful. That's where it ends. For £200.00 the room was disappointing and was premier inn room, nothing wrong with premier inn rooms, but they are what they are. The room was small, although very clean, but needed...

Spent 2 nights here while on a family holiday, and we all had a great time. The room was immaculate and, despite being on a main street, was surprisingly quiet. The entire building was beautiful, the staff were friendly and served us immediately, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Would definitely come again.

I chose the Hotel Russell because I love opulent old hotels, but there are three other reasons to recommend the Russell. A tube station for the Piccadilly line (has all the most famous attractions) is right around the corner, it is a block from the British Museum, and leafy Russell Square Park is across the street. After reading through the...

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
