Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely reception area, thinking 'this place looks posh'. After checking in with what could possibly be the rudest encounter ever with the male receptionist we made our way to the lift which looked like something from 50 shades of grey to the 4th floor. Leather interior, avoided touching at all costs! After exiting...

We checked in at 1.30pm on 12th April 2016 entered our room on 4th floor encountering a window blocked with blue tarpaulin on the way. The room was a box with a tiny bed no room to swing a cat! The paint was peeling away from the walls, it was damp mouldy and dirty. Moved to another room on the...

Don't know where to start with this review but let's have a go. Tiny cell like room. Broken mouldy shower. Broken toilet seat. Noisy. Didn't feel clean. Uncomfortable bed. Reception and other areas stunk and lift looked terrible. Staff on reception rude and unhelpful. Building in general poor state. Would never stay there again and would never recommend it to...

My wife and I entered the hotel in trepidation having read the many scathing reviews of the hotel on this site. It is evident from first observations of the reception area the hotel is in need of some major renovation, however, it was clean and warm and we were checked in by a friendly member of staff. The room allocated...

You read reviews and think that it can't be as bad as people say and you do get what you pay for. But this place is a complete dive. The window was covered up in the hall by a blue tarpaulin!!!! Iron but no ironing board?! The worst part was the rash I came out of the there with!!!!!!! Do...

This was supposed to be the delux room with robes and complimentary mineral water. Neither were included. The room and bathroom were very dated, the noise from the traffic was very loud. It said that the deal includes breakfast but what was confusing was that you still had to pay for it, this didn't make sense. You had to hold...

Whilst this Hotel is in a great location the room we stayed in was awful, you are greeted by staff that have no grasp of the English language and it took ages to get our pre booked room sorted. We stayed here for my birthday. My finace had planned a surprise trip to London. When I found out we were staying in Kensington, I thought "Ooh fancy!!" I heard it was a nice part of the city. A perfectly good hotel for a weekend stay in London. Close to Tube station and the classic tourist attraction. You get what you pay for in this case. Room was clean. Shower and toilet working. Staff helpful. Clean sheets. Maybe the doors were a bit "thin". A good place to stay if you are in town for the weekend.

I should have known better. For a budget hotel anything less than a Premier Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Ibis, and perhaps a Travelodge, just won't do. Rather use a hotel further out into Greater London than some of these that are in great central London locations but couldn't care less about the comfort of their patrons. Kensington Rooms hotel gives...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
