Very friendly staff, very attentive - especially attendant Irena. Delicious and hearty full English breakfast at a reasonable price for London. So near to the tube and Kensington area sites for tourism, in a quieter area not overrun by tourists, that Gainsborough is worth considering. My family and I will stay again.

My partner and I booked this hotel for a 4 night stay and we cancelled and left after 1 night! We booked it months ago but was put in the room right next to the lift which was noisy until early hours! The room was run down and grotty more like a sub contractors hotel where you pay £25 a...

The hotel was not the swankiest, but it was clean, quiet, and friendly, all in a great location minutes from the museums and the Tube. The rooms are small but I just needed a place to sleep and shower, London beckons. Lara was a great help at the reception desk, booking me tickets for a tour and generally very friendly...

Generally agree with most of the comments here as the hotel overall needs some general attention, but also agree that Lara was incredibly professional and friendly and willing to help. Great location, but difficult to control temperature in room and card key consistently did not work forcing a walk up/down 5 flights numerous times (elevator too small and slow to...

Hotel looks a bit tired, but Lara and Virginia were very kind and helpful at the reception. The location is the best possible, just a block away from South Kensington tube station/Natural History Museum, and close to the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens. Recommended.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting, we went as a family for a child's birthday and the staff were really rude, ignorant and said rude words to myself. They told me I had something stuck up my back side as on the website it states it has ironing facilties I asked about a iron they told me they don't have one...

The hotel are located in a quiet and beautiful place, in one minute walk from the main museums of the city and five minutes walk from Hyde Park. Friendly staff who are ready to help if you have any problems, especially want to thannk Lara and Elena. Rooms are small but cozy. We spent not so much time at the...

Such a shame! Perfect location for sight seeing and shopping in London but the hotel itself is just disappointing all round! Took over an hour to check in as the staff were just so inefficient and seemed to spend their time bickering among themselves and making excuses about how busy they were. Had to move rooms after being put in...

The location was good and at a very reasonable price for London. However, the quality of the accommodation was not great. However, the receptionist Lara was extremely helpful with the booking and payment issues I experienced during my stay.

Generally average quality hotel and very simple breakfast but very helpful staff which I'd like to particularly thanks Lara for her help since the check-in up to the check-out, such a professional receptionist has been greatly appreciated !

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
