Following an Ocean Princess cruise that including 4 places in Iceland and 2 ion NOrway, we stayed 3 nites at this small b&b on a quiet residential street 1 1/2 blocks from the South Kensington metro. Our standard twin on the third floor (4th fl by european stds as ground is 0) overlooking the front , while small , was...

We have thoroughly enjoyed our four days at Aster House. Great location, wonderful staff, comfy beds. Would highly recommend and would love to stay here again. They arranged our transports from the airport and cruise terminal. Easy access to underground and restaurants. Very close to museums and shops. Quiet neighborhood. Thank you Rick Steves for this great find.

I have stayed here twice while traveling through Europe. Both stays have been great. You are going to pay top dollar for your stay but frankly the location is perfect for exploring London. I stayed in a single room which was small but the service was good and the room was clean. I would gladly stay a third time and...

I made reservations at the Aster House based on recommendations of others, so I am paying it forward. I made reservations several months in advance, called the last few weeks and ask to be picked up at Heathrow all five of us and our luggage. Aster House made the arrangements, a driver holding a sign with our name on it...

This must be London's best kept secret. On a quiet, residential, historical street in So. Kensington, Aster House is among a set of Victorian-era row houses. Leoni does an amazing job in every way. Our room was spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is in the bright and cheery conservatory on the second floor, with a lovely selection of...

Our room was very comfortable, the breakfast was tasty, fresh and something for everyone. The staff is so friendly and helpful, tried to make our stay comfortable. Will stay here again! there are stairs but the suitcases were helpfully taken care of. Nice wardrobe to unpack into-good bedside lighting and internet available. thanks

We want to add to the praises of this excellent B&B. So pleasant to be on a quiet residential street but close to Underground (including fast, direct ride to Heathrow) and many good places for lunch and dinner. Standard rooms were pretty, clean, and even if a bit small, very functional. Bathrooms had good shower pressure and room for toiletries....

Like most other TA reviewers of Aster House (AH), I was initially enticed to stay at this B&B based on props from Rick Steves and his team, both in his London city guidebook and a London episode of his PBS travel series where he is filmed descending the AH staircase. Although I am hardly the peripatetic European traveler the Steves...

We had booked our hotel for our 4-night London stay well ahead of watching a Rick Steeves program on PBS. Thankfully we did it through Booking.com and were able to cancel without a charge. Let me just say right off the bat that the Steeves recommendation was bang on! The room we stayed in (Garden Room) was down a short...

We were looking for a clean, well-located hotel at a good price (not a simple undertaking) and Aster House filled the bill perfectly. The management and staff were extremely gracious in accommodating our requests and in making helpful suggestions to enhance our visit. Help with luggage was especially appreciated. Armed with our Oyster cards we were able to use the...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
