We stayed here for 2 nights recently for a wedding from 11/09 to 13/09. We stayed in Charterhouse. The room was very nice and the nespresso machine a nice touch. The rainfall shower was fantastic. The food was great and Lee the manager was very hospitable and a great host.

A real hidden gem of a hotel. The rooms we stayed in were large and really well furnished with an amazing bathroom. Higher than the quality one would expect from a normal hotel. The staff were helpful and obliging. I would highly recommend the fox and anchor.

Great rooms with good TV, sound system and nespresso coffee machine. Cast iron roll top bath at the foot of the bed. All very nice. Freindly and helpful staff in a great pub with panelled walls, leather chairs and several private cosy hideaways. Went for the City boy breakfast the next morning. Nice sausages and black pudding. The chef obviously...

An excellent place to stay if you want a change from your average hotel. The room I stayed in was the Barbican. Quite small for two if you wanted to sit and lounge around but with London out there why bother. Good large comfy bed , big TV , bath with shower. Pub charming and traditional with pleasant staff and...

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Fox and Anchor. We booked it for an anniversary theatre trip to London and were not disappointed. We arrived early hoping to leave our luggage whilst we went to the matinee and planned to check in after the show. However the manager very kindly gave us our room early. Throughout...

The Fox and Anchor is a Pub/Inn with 6 rooms located above the Restaurant/Bar. Our room was spacious, king size bed, sitting room and small outdoor patio. It also had the best copper bath tub and separate large shower. The room was surprisingly quiet. We enjoyed all of our breakfasts and many dinners in the Pub. Good food and atmosphere....

Just returned from Fox and Anchor after a weekend in London . Bedrooms very nice and comfortable although access to rooms is quite narrow , up steep stairs . Stayed a Saturday night and due to our tiredness this was not a concern however there was loud music playing in the local vicinity,on the same street until the very early...

Stayed last weekend in the fantastic suite and had a wonderful time. Lots of space plus looks lovely and comfy bed plus big and tasty breakfast. Not cheap, don't want to sound like a tourist, but everything nice in town seems to be getting more and more expensive! However, a great experience and such great people.

We had a wonderful weekend in St Paul's. We had been warned that it could be noisy due to a nearby club but I have to say it did not interfere with our sleep. The bar/hotel is very accessible from the Barbican underground station which made visits to other parts of the city painfree. A little oasis just up the...

I used to regularly pop into the Fox after weekly meetings in the area, it has been a few years since I've been and when I found myself close by recently I decided to swing by. I've always found the bar comfortable and welcoming with lots of little nooks to hide away in and enjoy a pint or some always...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.

Nestled deep in the lively & exciting Smithfield area, the former original London gin-joint has been lovingly restored to its former glory and a whole lot more as well. The Fox & Anchor originates from the late Victorian era and has been serving the traders of Smithfield market for years. Grand mahogany doors, etched glass and heavy brass, we serve great British food alongside our favourite cask ales & craft beers.
