We booked into the Ibis for the bank holiday weekend. It’s in a great position- overlooking the Royal Albert Dock and within easy access to all the sights of the city. We had a nice room on the 3rd floor, good firm beds with duvets, additional pillows, kettle + tea/coffee etc, hairdryer, small modular style bathroom with a great shower and 2 large soft towels. There were ample plug sockets in the room but none next to the only mirror. We did suffer a bit of noise from other rooms with late night returners and doors slamming. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss while we were there. They asked us to pre-book a time slot and gave us slips of paper to pre-order our food. Arrived on day 1 at the agreed time and there weren’t any free tables. We didn’t have to wait long but, despite Whatsapping our order they hadn’t seen it so we ordered on the morning and had a 30 minute wait. I think that was more to do with a staff shortage maybe. On days 2 & 3 we ordered on the morning and the food came quickly. I thought the food was ok. It filled a hole for me and set me up for the day. I did hear others complain but you can’t please everyone. My friend is a vegan and the choice was limited but they provided soya milk for cereal or beans and toast. The dining area is just next to reception with two double doors open to an outside area with plenty of seating and a partial view over to Albert Dock so lovely to sit outside (except for the smokers). The dining area doubles up as a bar in the evening - again, you text a number and a server comes to you to take your order. From a covid point of view - there are no suggested restrictions on numbers of people using the lift, so we mostly used the stairs. There are signs about using anti bac gel before touching the boiling water dispenser and orange juice jug and the lift button (although no gel provided outside the lift). Watch out for the gel dispenser inside the lift. It’s automatic so if you stand too close you get a delivery of gel on your back or feet. In addition, we had no service in the room for the duration of our stay. Didn’t bother us and we were only there three nights. I was very happy with my stay at the Ibis. Yes, there are areas that can be improved but it’s just a base to explore the city from (and what s great city it is). Enjoy :-)

The location of this hotel is great. So handy for Albert Dock and also the city centre. There is also a small Tesco next door for essentials. The rooms are very basic. The bathroom is ok with a power shower. No toiletries apart from hand wash. The rest of the room was tired and not overly clean. It was hot whilst we were there and the air con was not working. We had to have our window open. As we were facing the main road, the traffic noise was an issue. TV is basic, with limited channels. WiFi was ok. The hotel has Covid safety measures in place but there are issues with guests. We saw plenty not wearing masks inside, in the lifts and corridors. There is hand sanitiser available in reception and in the lift, but not in the corridors. You will also need to ask for toilet roll and replacement towels, rooms are not serviced during your stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a drink in the bar which was good value. We became aware that the hotel is being used to house homeless people. It wasn’t an issue for us. Everyone deserves a safe place to stay. The only trouble we saw was a row in the car park, apparently between “regular” guests who were plastered. We didn’t park at the hotel, we used Your Parking Space and parked at a casino, a short walk away. It was £22 for 4 nights. If you do stay and you like your beer, walk to Love Lane Brewery. It’s well worth it. We probably won’t stay at the Ibis again as there are better hotels in the same price range.

Only getting one star because I can't select 0. Upon arriving at the hotel the front of house staff were great (they seemed short staffed) but they were really friendly and helpful. I read a review below where someone said this hotel is getting used as a hostel and I have to say I agree with that. Our room was a family room on the ground floor (other families were here too) we got woke up three times throughout the night with drunken guests returning to their rooms, singing, shouting... At one point there was a woman knocking on every person's door at 4 or 5am trying to find her room... Not once did hotel staff come and sort this out or ask them to keep the noise down. It's quite scary staying in a place where this is allowed to go on? We saw two security guards sat at the door on their phones but they never came and did anything so I don't see the point of them being there? The room we stayed in had stains on the wall that looked like blood and some other bodily fluid. The ceiling looked like it had a patch of damp and the air con doesn't work. I've stayed in a few ibis hotels but this is the worst one ever. There is a general concern for safety on a night time it's like a free for all and the guests can just do what they like! I would never return here and I don't think anyone else will after staying on the ground floor this weekend.

Very centrally located hotel, ideal for Albert Dock, shopping and restaurants. Good to have on site parking for a reasonable price. Only stayed one night but was ideal for our needs. Breakfast was fine, plenty of choice. Staff friendly and helpful, and wasted no time in sorting out any potential problems (lads bringing bottles of beer into breakfast room were dealt with politely but firmly) Minor issue that only one lift in use and this was taken up by cleaning staff a lot of the time, but this wouldn't put us off returning. Oh, and the shower tray is very shallow and I flooded the bathroom floor - apologies to staff for the wet towels! Would definitely return.
